"Shog's best friends" is a bright, fun way for younger children to learn about finding friendship. Shog desperately wants friends, but he only wants to mix with other dogs. When Shog has an accident, Lilly Frog and Piggle come to his aid and he learns a powerful lesson. A true friend doesn't have to be a dog, just like him! A true friend is someone who is kind and caring, and there when it counts, even if they are "that shade of green!"
Combining wonderfully vibrant illustrations with the power of rhythm and rhyme, "Shog's Best Friends"is a perfect bedtime story and a must read for kids starting their reading journey. If you love read along children's picture books this one is a must.
Shog was a dog in the forests and all he wanted was another dog as his friend. Unfortunately there were no other dogs in the forest and Shog does not even look at all the other animals in the forest. He in grumpy and angry and does not make friends. That is when Shog breaks his leg. What happens after that and whether he makes friends after that is the story. Lovely illustrations and cute book for children in the importance of making friends no matter how different they are from you.
This book has a great moral. It shows in a fun way that the little ones can relate to and short enough they will not lose interest. The illustrations are whimsical and happy. Shog the 🐕 was lonely but the sign on the door said, "Welcome, Dogs Only". He wanted a 🐕 friend that would be around day after day. I don't like 🐪 or 🐟 or 🐦 or 🐄 or 🐅 🐈. One sunny day. Shog went shopping. Piggie the Grocer thought Shog was strange, but he kept on smiling. He walked tearily home alone. What could he do different to find a friend? Does he already have some and just not realize it? You get to listen/read to find out what is going to happen next. Yeah!!
Shog’s Best Friends is an engaging story in which Shog learns a valuable lesson about friendship. The illustrations went perfectly with the story and I recommend this book.

The book is about Shog the dog, who was feeling lonely and wandering to get friends who are dogs. He disapproved all other animals to be his friends. One fine day he was hurt and the frog helped him and the piggy took care with grocery and food items. Then Shog realized his mistakes and accepted his folly.
This is a fantastic book to read in the classroom, this shows students that they can create a friendship with their classmates. Showing students they can create close friendships with the other students will make them feel that they are in a safe and comfortable environment. This is a really cute book to read:)
Shog (dog) lives in the woods by a pond. He didn’t like the camels, fishes, birds, or the cows in the field. & the cat well does anything more need to be said. Shog decided to go shopping. So did the squirrels. Shog wants to make friends, but there are no dogs around. Piggle (pig) checked him out. Lilly (frog) watched as Shog tripped/fell in the pond. He lost all his groceries. What did Lily Frog & Piggle do for Shog?
I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.
A very awesome book cover, great colored pictures & proper font & writing style. A very well written children’s educational adventure story book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great children’s educational adventure movie, an animated cartoon, classroom PP presentation, or better yet a mini TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is a very easy rating of 5 stars.

Isolation is not just caused by others but also by yourself. People want to help and if you refuse to let them you can hurt yourself more. A good read.
This is a picture book that is written by Lisette Starr and illustrated by Gustyawan. I haven't found any awards about it, but I believe it is a worthwhile read. This book is appropriate for kids ages 3 to 8. The story tells us about Shog, a puppy who is trying to make friends among his kind. One day, an accident occurred, Lilly Frog and Piggle helped him, not other dogs. This taught him that a true friend is someone who can help him and is kind, not necessarily someone who is exactly like him. The book's character descriptions and plot are both fascinating, and the book's theme is fairly obvious. This book employs rhyming strategies to make that each line of text reads easily. The book's illustrations are also quite concise and straightforward. Through its content, this book demonstrates to children how to find friendship in fun ways. This is a novel that should appeal to a wide range of children. The content and illustrations in the book can provide positive and interesting information as well as the opportunity for children to think. This is a wonderful bedtime story and a must-read for children who are just beginning to read.
Shog's Best Friends is a very poetic style of writing that kids can easily follow along to and maybe even finish the sentences before the reader would. It also has a great plot that can be interpreted in many ways including making new friends no matter how they look. It's a great life lesson that young children would love! It also shows how friends are always there for you no matter how your days are going or how you've been treating them. It's overall a great story that teaches the reader to be nice to everyone and to not single anyone out because they're different, a great life lesson for the coming generations.
Shog the dog, is in a fog, because he is lonely and can’t understand why no one will visit him, despite the fact that he has a sign on his door that says only dogs are welcome. Unfortunately for Shog, no other dogs live in his neighborhood. His xenophobia causes him to rush through his day so he can minimize his interactions with other animals. As he rushes home, though, he breaks his leg. Another animal comes to his rescue, although Shog is reluctant to take his help at first. His pig and frog neighbors bring him food while he is recovering and they quickly become his friends. As you can probably guess, Shog changes the sign on his front door after that, and he is no longer a lonely dog.
Shog is an introverted dog who has no friends. This situation is his own fault. Shog hangs a sign on his door that says only dogs are welcome. Frog and Piggy ignore his boorish behavior and try to be friendly, but Shog rebuffs them.
When Shog has an unfortunate accident, he learns that it is no fun to be isolated. Having empathy for others is the way to gain true friendship and acceptance.
This book contains cute illustrations and sweet rhymes. I would especially recommend it for preschoolers and primary grade readers.
The author has quite the talent for rhyme and storytelling. I found the story a bit uncomfortable at first, when dog couldn't see the potential friends all around him. When he has no choice but to accept help, his heart and mind are opened and changed for the better.
The friends do not hold Shog's actions and thoughts against him. He did not know any better. When he finally discovered that help comes in many forms his mind and heart are opened and changed for the better.
My grandson and I enjoyed how this author is able to pack humor, an interesting story, and life lessons into a book, but not in any heavy-handed way. Learning to appreciate the kindness of others, to be accepting of others' differences, and how to be kind to others can solve the problem of loneliness and help kids grow into happier adults. The illustrations are very cute, too.
This book was a great book. It teaches kids well and adults too that to have friends they do not always have to be just like you. Dog thought he only wanted other dog friends but there were none where he lived. One day he goes shopping runs into all kinds of animals but no dogs. Dog I'd rude to others that are not dog's. Will dog ever learn? Read this book to find out.
This book should be read by every parent to their children. I believe it sends a great message to us all. We all should learn a thing or two from reading the book. It reminds us to stay humble and be nice to others, simply because you never know who might be there when you need just someone to lean on. Great book.
What a cute book about friendship! I absolutely adored the illustrations. I thought they were silly. The book covers a dog that wanted another dog friend, but there were no other dogs. It used rhyming strategies, which helped guide the story, but in some parts it was a little confusing. Overall, a short, fun read.
Nice story for children. Teaches inclusion and not to be so quick to decide who your friends are. Friends come in many different shapes and sizes and just because you are different don’t mean you can’t be friends.
Show the Dog only wants dog friends in his life. He doesn’t believe any of the other creatures are worth knowing. But throughout all his cruelty and rudeness, he still makes friends with two new creatures and undergoes a change of heart.
This book teaches students about friendship. Students will want to read this book again and again. It can also encourage students to be nice to others so they can make more friends. A wonderful and positive message.
I love this book, it is a cute dog about a dog who just wanted another dog as his bestfriend. This book is perfect for the classroom because it teaches friendship, diversity, and just overall has a cute story behind their adventure.
