The memories of my childhood are sharp and clear. I came from an impoverished family of seven. When you have very little, the library can become the source of joy and adventure. As a child, we never lived anywhere longer than two years, but I always found the local library or haunted the book mobiles that came to our schools.
I told my mother I would one day write a book. Unfortunately, she died when I was 25. I went to college as a young adult, and published my first book through Putnan/Penquin/Berkley when I was 31. I am so thankful for my childhood. It taught me the value of so many things. These books I write, Mom, are for you!
Love, love, love this book as well as Courting Season. Actually typed it all up for my personal use. The book I must say was in terrible shape. I can't wait til they come out, if they come out in ebook format.
An adventurous, heartwarming story that takes a pinch of mountain magic, a bit of mountain lore, a whole barrel of humor, and a big Missouri Moon to illuminate the path to Johnnie's and Adam's journey to love and trust... A "Rita Finalist" classic!
Oh, my goodness! What a sweet story! I really felt like I was a part of this small-town, tight-knit community. I loved Johnna Mae's sassy, tomboy spirit, and Adam's calm, caring demeanor.
