In the northern reaches of Eon, there lies a city cast in shadow, a place for the outlaws and the rogues of the realm to dwell. Free from the reach of Eon's mighty guilds, it is a place where adepts come to live by their own rules and test their strength with techniques long forbidden.
The Sky Wolves are no different.
Pursued by a group of ruthless killers, Roy and his guild of mavericks have set their sights on the city of Shadowreach in hopes of finding refuge. However, not everyone in the guild may be strong enough to withstand the many threats that lie within the city's walls...
In pursuit of greater strength, Roy will attempt to transform his body into a weapon able to withstand the strike of a soulblade or the burn of a mystic's spirit flame. The question is, will it be enough to ensure his survival in the city of rogue adepts?
****This is a cultivation novel with wuxia / xianxia and LitRPG elements.****
First, my review: “This was a fun book. I am glad that I read it. You should try it too.”
Over the past year it has become apparent that my reviews are somewhat antagonistic and I apologize to those of you that have taken offense. I think I had hoped to change peoples’ minds about reviewing works of art and that seems to have backfired spectacularly. However, I am still going to be true to myself and write what I believe.
To the author: Thank you for this chance to escape reality and enjoy the world you created! Keep up the good work.
To my fellow reviewers: Messaging me and reviewing my reviews is as productive as trying to shovel water out of the ocean. Stop. I get it. Let’s just all live peacefully.
To potential readers: Art needs to be experienced at an individual level. You are the only one that can determine what you like and don’t like. Don’t let others make that decision for you. You should definitely read the book and completely ignore all of the reviews. You are a much better judge of what you will like than anyone here.
At first I was ignoring the typos, the misspellings and other grammatical issues. I try really hard not to be the grammar police but this was a little much. With a degree in Elementary Education, I would think you would know how to spell your own characters names. Hire an editor or do it yourself thoroughly.
Another amazing book this has amazing character development and an even richer world. Darren Hultberg has done an amazing job he leave you intrigued and mystified with what's going to happen next. At the same time he does not leave it to the point where its future creeping it's a very complete second book. I can't wait for the next book!
I didn't love the first book in this series but figured I'd try the second. Needless to say, it didn't really capture my interest. Characters feel pretty dull, the plot and world didn't really capture my imagination, and the LitRPG system can't carry it on its own. Only made it about 30% of the way through.
A liked the first book and this one has more of everything I liked from the first. Lots of development, new powers, new friends and villains as well as some plot progression. Can't wait for next book.
This was another good addition to the series but the editing could use some work. It was just small things where the words sound the same when spoken but are spelled differently.
Greatly enjoyed this book. Wish the author and or editor took a bit more time proof reading as the number of mis-spelled and incorrect words takes away from what is an overall amazing story. I'm looking forward to book three and hope these errors are corrected.
An okay followup to the first book in the series. I did feel like there was a lot of potential to build out the world the story is set in that was just squandered. While the action scenes were described decently well the transitions felt extremely rushed and basically ignored.
