3.75 Stars. This was a feel good erotic-romance with some real heat. Considering it has been around 5 degrees here the past couple of days, an enjoyable romance with some heat could not come at a better time. While I would not call this a holiday romance, it’s still perfect for this time of year. I’m a Jay fan, I believe I have read all of her lesfic writings and I appreciate that she doesn’t disappoint.

This is a story about two people that meet at work, have an instant attraction, but don’t know if they will ever see each other again. While the beginning of this book almost had a perfect porno set-up, if you know Jay you know she writes erotic-romances which means romance not just great sex scenes. And encase you are unfamiliar with Jay most of her works, like this one, includes BDSM.

If you are a little on the fence about BDSM or are new to it, Jay’s books are a great way to see if it might appeal to you. Jay always writes consensual play with agreed upon limits. The scenes never feel like they go overboard and they feel like they are done by two people in a loving relationship. I always praise Jay on this but her characters are always realistic everyday people not porn stars and it makes the stories more approachable.

The romance itself was a feel good romance. There is a little angst but it’s not too much. It was just enough conflict to keep the story moving without it feeling overdone. The characters had some good chemistry together and it kept growing as the book went on. And like in all of Jay’s books the sex scenes are hot and well done. There is enough variety so that they never feel repetitive and considering this is an erotic book, the amount of sex scenes is perfect. Not too much but just right for the story length.

If you are in the need for some heat for this already cold winter, this book should warm you right up. If you are a Jay fan already chances are good that you will enjoy this one too.

An ARC was given to me for a honest review.

CEO and cleaner.

This one caught me completely by surprise. My fault for jumping in without researching the author and for not reading the reviews beforehand. I just assumed this was going to be the usual power imbalance type workplace romance I usually thrive on. I didn't expect an erotic romance and certainly not one that has a hot and heavy starting chapter that felt suspiciously like porn. That really threw me off by a mile and it took me a while to recalibrate my brain before I could continue.

The storyline felt a bit thin at first. The ice queen CEO broke after just the first encounter with the office cleaner and the MCs got it on quick. But the real deal turned out to be the BDSM. I don't pick out BDSM stories to read but I think Jay made it a point to deliver a pleasant experience to people who are not quite in the game so that turned out to be surprisingly enjoyable. It's light and there's some discussion on safety and consent, mostly due to Simone's vulnerability in the bedroom. I love that Simone and Nadia fit very well sexually and I also think their chemistry does show outside the bedroom too.

It's my first book by Jay, and yes, she has won me over to explore more of her books. She tweeted that this book is only going to be on KU for the next couple of months, so I guess now would be a good time to get to it if you enjoy some light kink.

5 stars - kinky and I liked it

Oh so bear with me a sec. I am not the type to ick other people’s yum. Seriously, you do you boo. However, for myself, I find a lot of romance with bdsm elements to be to much for me. I am not sure how to explain it but it doesn’t seem…fair? Do you know what I mean? The dom seems to have all the power and sometimes it’s hard to see where the love comes in. I am a Libra and if I can't see the balance in a relationship it really bugs me. 😂

Donna Jay writes this story in such a way that I can see that love. The dom character is much more real and playful and relatable to me. Being able to relate and even if I still don’t understand why someone would want to be spanked with a paddle until it leaves marks, at least I understood the underlying trust and love and that was sexy. To basically hand over your safety to another person and trust them when you are at your most vulnerable and then read how that trust makes the dom feel? Ok that was hot and sexy.

TLDR if you are a bit ambivalent to bdsm romances you might want to give this one a shot.

Possibly my least favorite by DJ.

The plot. Instalust strikes again when Simone lays eyes on a seemingly new cleaner who is not shy at all about returning her interest.

The characters. The main characters I suppose were fine but did I really like either of them? Nope. There was nothing that really made them stand out. I do have to place a massive question mark next to Simone's character however. A CEO at 33 and at a company that doesn't seem to have more than a dozen employees?

The writing. Though the story towards the end kept me turning the pages, I almost gave up on the book in the beginning. It felt like such an obvious and convenient plot device to have the main characters not know who the other was. Why didn't Helen just tell Simone the truth about Nadia?

The special. Sorry, I'm drawing a blank here. If you're looking for a reason to read this book, this is not the review to help you find one.

The negative. Aside from the story dragging a little in the beginning and Nadia's cousin being an idiot, I wasn't a fan of Nadia pushing Simone's limits so soon after her confession of how awful her ex was. (Book contains triggers!)

The verdict. I forgot all about this book immediately after I read it. I can't pinpoint exactly what it was but I just couldn't get into the story for some reason. Not my favorite by far by Donna Jay but I still plan on reading her next book. This one just wasn't for me. Overall rating is a 2,75*.

Sometimes I just want to read a book that starts with the good bits, where it skips the process of the characters getting to know each other and the drawn out recognition of feelings before anything happens. In this lovely erotic romance, that’s exactly what you get: the good bits. But there is also a tangible connection created so that it doesn’t feel gratuitous. I’m not going to rehash the story line because one of the things I really enjoy about Jay’s novels is the element of surprise.

This felt a lot like Mistaken Identity in my response to it but bears no resemblance in story line. I was fully engaged from the first chapter and I think it’s the book I’ve read the quickest this year (not that that is saying much). I’ve mentioned before in reviews that the moment I realise a book is an erotic romance I stop looking for realism but in spite of the erotic nature of this book, it is still grounded in the reality of ordinary women with a liking for power exchange and some kink. It’s on the light side of BDSM with lots of discussion around safety and consent.

I love the pride Jay has in her country so you can also count on the setting being accurate and interesting. This is exactly the book I needed at the moment with its fast pace, little bit of intrigue and steamy scenes. Oh, and an ice queen. Four and a half stars rounded up.

Donna Jay's latest, "Corporate Lines," was another delightfully written and told erotic (light BDSM) romance between two women who met under some strange circumstances one evening. A circumstance that I thought was unique, in that, I'd never read anything like it before. So, that was refreshing! Jay wrote this story in a dual-POV format, where every chapter denoted each MC's POV, albeit, told in a third-person narrative. I thought it was a good move to do so in light of the unique dynamic they were in. So knowing about their state of mind separately allowed me, as a reader, to be invested equally in both MCs’ stories.

What's unique about this insta-attraction, "office"-ish romance was that it happened at the least likely of situation because, don't know about you, but for me, my whole perspective has changed after reading this book, and from now on, I'll be looking at office cleaners in a whole new perspective! Anyway, there's also an ice-queen persona added into the mix, although, Jay didn't use it as a proper trope in this story, only a passing thought, really. Might as well because in this story, Jay's primary focus was the D/s dynamic between Simone and Nadia, both of whom, weren't the typical D/s characters that we are (at least I am) used to reading about. I loved it that Jay portrayed their initial meet as a typical boss-meets-worker scenario. And then, we discovered that nothing was what it seemed, which made the story more interesting than it already was! Boss and office cleaner?

Full commentary here.. In Bugs' Own Words

**I was given, with much thanks and appreciation, an ARC of this book, by the author, in return for an honest review.

.I’ve read some of Jay’s books before and enjoyed them and will read her coming books.
This book was an okay read which I enjoyed well enough, but it’s not my favourite. It was well written, but I did miss more of a story and insight in the characters beyond their sexual preferences, so I couldn’t feel a connection to them. My rating is 3.4 stars.

Do not let yourself get fooled by the cover: this book in no way is a grey mouse. I am a sucker for light power play in books, so this book was right up my ally. When it comes to topics, this book is not as unique as other books by Jay. Despite that, it is a lovely and sizzling hot read.
A romance about two women finding the perfect mates in one another. In life and the bedroom.

As I always do with Jay's books, I devoured it. I recommend reading this if you are up to a romance with a little bit of kink. If you have never read a kinky romance, this is a great one to get acquainted.

Thank you, Jay, again a great read!

• Corporate Lines
• Donna Jay
• MC Nadia & Simone
• New Zealand

The story takes place in New Zealand. Simone a CEO ice queen and a Nadia and new cleaner at Simone’s company. The romance part of the book was amazing. Nadia and Simone are wonderful
together. This is a work place love affair. They have a hot instant connection.

Simone has scars from her last relationship, physical and emotional. She has trust
issues. Nadia comes along and provides her with emotional support and kindness she didn’t know she needed.

Nadia has a kind heart. Which pours through the story in the way she takes care of her friends and family.

I love the romance and the connection of Simone and Nadia. The love scene were amazing as always there is light BDSM but it was done tastefully and just the right amount for these two main characters.

I recommend this book. Donna Jay is one of my favorites.

Aw dear. Not my taste I'm afraid, so no offence meant. I've read a couple of well written lesbian romance this past month and maybe it's spoiled me. I know romance stories have a fair chance of being cringy but this made me cringe many times. Eek! One point was where they saw a NewZealand bird, a 'pukeko' and Simone said "stunning. Like Nadia". Oft. She met Nadia's family before she knew her last name. I know lesbians are infamous for their fast moving romances but jeez. I think it will appeal to some if you want easy to read and a fast, very fast, moving romance. Sorry.

I must first say that i really like Donna Jay’s romances. Many of them have some BDSM in them and normally they stay on this lighter side. I would say that Corporate Lines is the same. Overall I did like this one but didn't like as much as her previous romances. This one just seemed odd and slightly off. What do I mean? Well, from the meetup until they finally got together for a date seemed thrown together. Sure there was attraction but it didn’t flow well. I think after that the book came together better, but still left me feeling at odds. Anyway, i am rating this one 3.5 stars.

A good story dominated (sic) by S&M with good secondary characters. No real angst, more real than usual, a story well told. Recommended.

I really enjoyed this book. It started out comical, a saucy cleaner, who would of thought but it then turned into a story of love and trust. Donna Jay always writes very good BDSM erotic romance, this story is no exception and also has a really positive message about consent when playing.
An added bonus is the New Zealand back drop, this beautiful country adds to the story.

Simone is a corporate CEO who works late every night. She comes off as icy, even intimidating the nightly cleaning lady, Helen, who can’t work one evening because of her sick child. Desperate not to lose her job, her best friend, Nadia, masquerading as Jane, fills in, stuffing her voluptuous body into a too-small cleaning uniform along with high heels and lace topped stockings as part of a totally inappropriate outfit for a cleaning lady.
Simone was definitely distracted and found herself lusting over this woman. “Jane” was having fun with Simone, knowing how rattled she was. She massaged her temples, passionately kissed her and even straddled her. However, the potential, agreeable encounter was halted by the return of another employee entering the building.
Simone, unable to forget the deep blue eyes, primped herself up the following nights, hoping to see “Jane” again. When she didn’t return, she set out to find her.
What followed next was a delightful story where Donna Jay, with her sexy and sassy one-liners, charmed me. There was some BDSM that was tastefully done with the mutually loving and caring people. The steamy intimate scenes were also well received. I loved this book and easily gave it 5 stars.

Yummily Ever After
Simone is a busy CEO who often works too much and refuses to delegate. When a VERY sexy new cleaner arrives one night, overtime doesn’t seem so bad. The second time they meet, sexy cleaner easily learns Simone’s secret, she’s a total sexual sub, which is great because the other woman is a total top! The problem is that they are at work and when the cleaner disappears, Simone has no way to find her… Nadia is the busy owner of a lingerie company. When her best friend needs help Nadia covers her cleaning shift… Never expecting to be so taken with the lovely CEO, she pushes the limit and then flee. Unfortunately, she can’t get the woman out of her head and she doesn’t even know her name…. Whatever shall they do?

This book is SCRUMPTIOUS!!!! It is full of wonderful power play and ever so delectable sexy bits that go on and on… YUMMY! The story is great and I love, love, love Simone and Nadia!!! They are so interesting, warm, seductive and I adored that they are able to play with each other, teasing and joking… the power play/BDSM is for the bedroom only (or scenes wherever they take place) and otherwise they are just a beautiful couple falling in love and dealing with all the problems that come with that like family, friends and misunderstandings. There were lots of awwws and warm fuzzies in this tale and it was just a wonderful book! Another great read by the incomparable Ms Jay!

I was about to rate this 3 stars. Something in the instant love and the writing didn't sit well with me BUT I enjoyed it, so I couldn't in good conscience rate it lower, because I really liked it.

The Nadia in my imagination is just lust personified and that's a must in an erotica book. The way she's described and her personality is just what I need it and didn't knew it.

Simone was supposed to be a super boss in comand person and sorry but I didn't feel it. She came across as just plain rude and indecisive, and that doesn't screams the head bitch in charge attitude she was suppossed to have.

BUUUUUUUT I liked them as a couple. I'm not sure if it's just me being horny or if the social distancing is getting to me, but they where cute, and hot, and I wanted more. So go and read this. In private. I was reading it on my parents living room. Not a good idea.

How does overtime go from ho-hum to exciting? Add one sexy office cleaner with a pair of lacy top stockings and killer heels! Simone is in her office minding her own business, catching up on paperwork. That is until she’s distracted by the cleaning lady “Jane”. One interesting encounter in her office leads to some fun adventures in New Zealand and the bedroom. Well, not just the bedroom, but I’ll let you find out where the sexy times play out! Donna has written another story full of humor and steam. This book will have you chuckling and fanning yourself, it’s that good!

Corporate Lines is my first read of Donna Jay and won't be my last. I really enjoyed reading this, especially due to the chemistry between the MCs. I typically find steamy lesfic novels have little substance to their plot or characters, but I thought this went against the grain in that regard. One other aspect I particular enjoyed was the novel's setting of New Zealand - one of my favourite places in the world.

Many thanks to Donna Jay for gifting me a copy of this novel

I really enjoyed this book. This is my first book by Donna Jay, and I know it is an erotica story with BDSM focus, which didn't do much for me, but I LOVED the romance! The chemistry and connection between Simone and Nadia is super sweet, sexy, and full of love, it just melted my heart. If all of Jay's character connection like this, I cannot wait to read more!

SAPPHIC BOOK BINGO: favorite trope, full-time writer, out of your comfort zone, meet-cute, unusual job, erotica, dare; UNICORN: BDSM, safer sex (possibly other categories)

BDSM is out of my comfort zone, but Donna Jay is a great writer, and I've enjoyed her stories. I barely have any other stories of that genre to compare them to, so I'm not exactly a reliable reviewer. That being said, I enjoyed the book. Not only was it entertaining, it was enlightening and educational because it gave me another peek into a world that I rarely visit while reading. There was a lot of trust and respect between the two women, and that was how they had a solid relationship. The HEA was a treat for me, as well.

A happy story about two gorgeous business women, kink, and finding the loves of their lives. Well written with great MCs, this tale takes place in New Zealand. One women, Nadia, covers for her best friend (who has a sick child) at her job as an evening cleaning lady at a kitchen and bathroom remodeling store. The CEO of the remodeling business, Simone, is working late and the women meet in the CEO’s office. Immediately taken with one another, Nadia recognizes Simone as a submissive to Nadia’s dom proclivities. It’s more romance than a BDSM tale, but if kinks your thing you’ll get a good taste, if not (like me) you can enjoy the romance. HEA all around.

The cover lies. The characters spend more time outside the office. It's even a plot point to get Simone to stop working so hard. Heck, the two characters don't even work in the same place.

I can't think of anything too special about this one. It has light bondage theme which I wasn't a big fan of. I suppose the meet-cute was unique and the two characters felt completely different from one another. Nadia was blunt and always went after what she wanted, whereas Simone was more uptight.

Aside from the fact that the cover picture has haunted my brain since the moment I saw it, this is a well written story. If you like lesbian romance with a touch of Ds, you will find it here. Jay does a nice job making the protagonists come to life.
