Perform your best and feel your best by keeping your body flexible, strong, and mobile.
Myofascial Intelligent Movement for Mobility, Performance, and Recovery will show you how to reset your network of fascia, the connective tissues that support and protect the muscles and bones that facilitate every move you make. The result? A toned, balanced, relaxed, and coordinated body.
Following five fundamental strategies—feel, mobilize, stretch, move, and release—you will learn specific exercises for the fascia throughout your body. The movements are simple, and most require only your own bodyweight. Expert instruction will lead you through sequences to improve function, enhance performance, recover from injury, and release tension. More than 600 color photos show the correct starting position and technique for each movement to ensure optimal results.
In addition, you’ll find dedicated sequences and programs for specific situations and conditions. Constantly working at a computer? Focus on relief for the shoulders and neck or for carpal tunnel syndrome. Standing all day? Try a program for healthy feet. Looking to improve a personal best? Employ techniques to help improve running form.
Whether you want to improve your functional daily living or enhance athletic performance, the benefits of mobilizing the fascia network are significant. With Myofascial Training , you will learn to truly listen to and feel how your body moves as a functional unit and how to incorporate the right training exercises to feel your absolute best.
It is not clear to me what body parts this book addresses, but the figures are clear and certainly anyone can do them, so I would say that already that is a plus.
Non mi é ben chiaro quali siano le parti del corpo a cui si rivolge questo libro, ma le figure sono chiare e certamente le possono fare tutti, quindi direi che giá questo é un vantaggio.
I received from the Publisher a complimentary digital advanced review copy of the book in exchange for a honest review.
I was supplied this book for review, but in no way does it impact my thoughts on the work. This is a well written book having to do with training yourself ways to treat myofascial pain. The illustrations are clear and helpful. The color themes make it easy to find your way around, and even the authors ("Coach") way of teaching is explained. With the many variations of the exercises you will be able to increase or decrease the intensity, so I believe this book would appeal to anyone who has pain in their connective tissue. It's a great read! Do a few stretches 2-3 times a week and you'll be feeling and moving better in no time.
Many books emphasize how to train muscles for strength and fitness but very few mention the importance of caring for the fascia. These connective tissues surround the muscles - thus the term "myo" and various exercises like yoga and pilates incorporate training these tissues for optimal performance. The title might scare off some readers, but this is still a good addition to any library that encourages stretching.
Supported by solid scientific research, I appreciated the inclusion of biology and anatomy. However, it made the introduction rather heavy and more suitable for practitioners and teachers, rather than those who want a simple exercise routine to help with pain. As with any book on exercise, it is sometimes difficult to figure things out from photos.
I frequently reference this book. Myofascial training isn’t a new concept but a lot of people have kind of dismissed it for more popular workouts and theories. Our musculature is all connected so it makes sense that the webbing that holds us together needs to be flexible and strong. A really good read
