Caffeine.
It's why I stumbled into that sidewalk cafe in Sicily.

And without my triple espresso.
Since I met her, she's been the star of every single salacious fantasy.
With a body built for sin and heart of gold, I knew I had to make her mine.
Except she's a princess and,
I'm no knight in shining armor.
A fact her ruthless father made pretty damn clear
When he ordered me to stay far away.
Now Serena and I share a common enemy,
One that won't rest until we're both eliminated.
I know I can save her.
Her father knows it, too.
And he doesn't care that sparing her life means giving up my own.

I mean, comparing this to some other mafia romances I've read, this was quite wishy-washy.

It was an enjoyable story, talking about a boss (who's not even really a mafia boss) falling in love with a girl called Serena, the daughter of another mafia boss.

It was not by any means gripping. I thought it would have been interesting to introduce more themes, such as enemies-to-lovers, seeing as the romance didn't really have a build-up.

The actual plot is just men who are targeting Serena and Diego has to keep her safe, basically.

I was left with the feeling of wanting more, and didn't really feel a sense of satisfaction I wanted from a good romance novel, it just fell short.

DNF.

ENJOYABLE TO READ, BUT SINCE I PREFER AN ALPHA MALE LEAD AND A TRULY DARK MAFIA ROMANCE WITH FUCKED UP, TWISTED SHIT....THIS DIDN'T MAKE THE CUT FOR ME WHEN IT'S ALL HEARTS AND ROSES.

Not that it was a bad story, it wasn't. It's just hit too close to insta-love for me.

Wanted is fresh, exciting and really really good!!!

The Mafia drama is intense, the Marcone family camaraderie is hysterical and the passion between Serena and Diego is alluring! They made such an impression on me. I love Serena and Diego! These two are so alike in their stubbornness and antics I was captivated.
I learned that Wanted is a spinoff from a past series, but I was never lost, all it did was make me want to read every book having anything to do with these mafias.
I really enjoyed the suspenseful storyline of Wanted. I really fell in love with the characters and am so looking forward to more Men of Mayhem. SO Thrilled I read it!

I'm a huge fan of this author and of mafia romances so when I heard about this book I knew I was going to need to read it.....and I was so right. This book had a little bit of everything. It was dark & full of suspense but also had some lighthearted moments & a bit of humor. Kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time.

Wanted by Kristen Luciani is the first book in the Men of Mayhem series. I expected a well written edge-of-your seat dark Italian mafia romance story, and that's exactly what Ms. Luciani gave me. You are taken through a roller coaster of emotions with the perfect amount of suspense, danger, heartache, and so much more.

I volunteered to review an advance reader copy of this book.

I liked the action and the chemistry between Serena and Diego. However, chapter 12 didn't work for me (that's strangely specific, I know) and Serena irked me at times, particularly her giggling (giggling's for girls. She's a woman).

This was a good read. Diego meets Serena and I'd instantly attracted to her. Problem is that her father is a top boss in the mafia. Someone is after her and her family. When trouble comes Diego is there to help. Everything is well for now but the bad guy is still loose and we have to wait for justice.

Diego And Serena's Story Is Surprisingly Sweet In This Plot-Driven Action-Packed Mafia Novel About The Sicilian Marcone Family.

This is book one of the Men of Mayhem series, which appears to follow the powerful Marcone family of the Sicilian mafia. The series is a spin-off of the Severinov Bratva series about the Russian mobster Severinov family. The families intersect in books three and four of that series, with Tali Severinov marrying Cristian, the loose canon of the Marcone family, in book three, while the emotionless Russian mob boss Alek finally gives in to his feelings for young Gianna Marcone in book four. The fathers in each family were murdered, leaving their children scrambling to take control of the resulting chaos. This book is Diego Marcone and Serena Vitale's story.

There is a short prequel, Mayhem, which is not necessary to have read first, but it is a very quick read and sets up book one of this series.

The Marconi family, a Sicilian powerhouse, has worked for three years to rebuild their family empire following their father's murder. Vince, thirty-nine, took over as boss. He doesn't trust anyone. He sees the big picture and runs a tight ship. Cristian, twenty-six, went to Monaco to run the highly prized shipping business alongside Alek Severinov following Alek's father's murder, who was their partner in the business. Anthony and Tommy, the barbaric brothers, run the specialty foods company as well as the imports and exports to sustain it in addition to nightclubs and bars. Finally, there is Diego.

Diego Marcone, twenty-seven, was groomed to be the floater in his family's crime empire. He isn't driven by emotion and thinks logically. He is the enforcer that ensures business runs smoothly. In the wake of their father's death, he took charge of several smaller scale businesses, too. Once level-headed, after leaving Monaco where he and Cristian took down their father's murderer, he fell into a pit of anger and guilt for failing to prevent his father's death. He and Cristian thought they got the person responsible for their dad's murder, but he soon discovered there were many more involved. One by one he quietly took the men responsible out. The last was six months ago. He decided then to put his anger behind and focus instead on helping his family. And no women - he hadn't yet recovered from falling into Via Fortunato's trap. He began Eventi-X, an event production company that became in instant success and money-maker for his family.

Serena Vitale, about twenty-four, is a mafia princess and fashion icon, followed and photographed by paparazzi. Straddling the limelight and her notorious father's reputation is complicated, to say the least. But lately she has wanted more. She wants to use her degree and be a designer in Milan, but her father, powerful and absolutely ruthless mob boss Franco Vitale of Naples, refuses to permit it. He has too many enemies and threats to even consider allowing her to leave home. Since her near abduction six months ago, though, Serena has taken up the cause of sex trafficking victims and started the Rizierio Vitale Foundation. Despite the anger it causes his peers, and the added danger to their family's lives, her father reluctantly supports his daughter in her cause.

When Diego and Serena lock eyes from across the room at her fundraiser, both feel the connection. Diego, who has followed her online and lusted from afar, is inspired by Serena's impassioned speech and impressed with her as a person. After hearing her speak, he wants more from life. Following a brief meeting, though, Franco warns Diego off, and Diego knows better than to cross Franco. But their families cross paths again in a crisis, and when Diego and Serena finally meet again they know they've found their happily ever after - if they live to survive. Both families have enemies who have quietly plotted and are ready to take them down.

Diego and Serena's story is surprisingly sweet given the lives they live in the criminal world. They both have been impacted by a night they hadn't known linked them together (from the prequel). That night Diego put his anger behind and became a hugely successful businessman. And Serena found her calling as an advocate for young women, victims and potential victims of trafficking. She bravely spoke out against her father's peers and hoped to curb the practice with her plea. Though much work remains, the couple eventually finds their happy ending.

There are some issues that merit mention. First, there is some redundancy. Second, the timeline is a little confusing in the early and middle part of the book. In the latter part, two days are conflated into one. Next, Serena's speech in Vince's office is long-winded and calls for unnecessarily rash action. Her tone seems different suddenly, out of character. Fourth, Vince repeatedly reminds Diego of his failure to save their father, then suddenly contradicts himself when in a heated argument he tells Diego he has to stop blaming himself. Fifth, the dialogue and action in the violent dining room scene don't feel realistic, particularly with a roomful of mafia bosses present. The failure of security is shocking. Despite these points, it is still a great story about family and worthwhile for fans of the Severinov Bratva series.

Diego and Serena's story shows how well the Marcone family sticks together in a crisis. This book is complex and plot-driven. It may help to have read books three and four of the Severinov Bratva series and Mayhem, the prequel, but it reads perfectly as a stand-alone. The characters are nicely developed. It is written in first person. The POV alternates between Diego and Serena, but has a small scene near the end in a new character's POV - Elia - as well as a snippet from Anthony's POV. I rate this book 3.5 stars.

The addition starts with the book cover….yeah…yeah…yeah don’t judge a book by its cover they say ….well we all do it and this one here it is the scratch to your itch or better yet the filling to your oreos! Speaking of filling…..wait, that’s for later. Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with!
Bad boy….check
Bod boy’s crazy brother/friend…check
Bad boy’s Kryptonie…check ….check and check
By the time you’ve figured out who is who and what is what, you’re already hooked, and you may as well give up the fight and prepare yourself for an all-nighter!
This is book is part of the Mafia Men of Mayhem series why just read one when you can start at the beginning and keep reading through the series it won’t be a waste of time. Okay a little back history on what’s going on the father/head of the Marconi family, Sicilian was murdered, his sons have worked for three years to rebuild their family after their father’s death. Vince being the oldest took over as boss. He doesn't trust anyone, can see the big picture and rules with an iron fist (sort of). Next in line is Cristian who moved to Monaco to run their shipping business with Alek Severinov (whose father was also murdered) making him the surviving partner in the business. Up next would-be Anthony and Tommy they work the specialty foods, imports, exports and nightclubs/bars. Leaving Diego who can do it all which was his training he make sure all business are running smooth as silk, level headed and headed home after taking care of ensuring their father’s murder was taken care of permanently and oh yeah no women (yeah right). Serena Vital is a mafia princess, known as a fashion icon followed by many young girls, lives life with the paparazzi but she isn’t happy because she worked hard for her degree in fashion and want to be a fashion designer but daddy says no (in not a nice way either) Serena has heart starting a foundation to aid in sex trafficking bring awareness upsetting his business partners but he stands behind in support of his daughter. While attending a fundraiser Serena and Diego see each other and it is like a lightning bolt the chemistry is instant and intense, the magnetic pull can’t be ignored. Her father isn’t having any of it when it comes to the two of them warning him to stay away but after a crisis bring them together will they continue to fight the attraction, is there trouble headed their way, will her father agree to allow them to be together, will their enemies come for the two of them and can they have happiness?

Slow burn that delivers a lot of satisfying fireworks

Wanted is the first book in the new Mafia Men of Mayhem series. This is a darker story about Diego Marcone and Serena Vitale. Diego is twenty-seven years old and a dark, dangerous and deadly man. He works in the family business....the Sicilian Mafia. He and his brother now run the family with death and destruction following in their wake as they have exacted vengeance on those responsible for their father's death. Serena is twenty-four and was brought up as a spoiled and isolated Mafia princess. She does have a brain though also as she has a degree in fashion and wants to become a designer in Milan. But her father refuses to allow her to leave Naples as he wants her close to keep her safe, after all she was almost kidnapped six months ago. So instead she has started a foundation to help fight sex trafficking of women and children. This puts an even larger target on her back by her father's partners and enemies, as it is going against some of their business. When Diego and Serena first see each other at a fundraiser it is fireworks and explosions. But when her father warns Diego to stay away from Serena will he be able to? Or will he risk his life to get the woman he is obsessed with?
This book is nicely written and has a wonderful story-line and characters. It is a bit Romeo and Juliet with a modern spin and some dark Mafia based twists. My only issue is that the story was a bit confusing a few times. But overall this was a great first book in the new series and I am looking forward to reading the next.

I received a copy of this book and am leaving my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

Whew! “Fanning self here” These Moreno men are hot, sexy, and very dangerous. Antonio and Tommy are the comic relief as well as being dangerous, but Vince and Diego are dangerous and lethal. Diego acts on instinct and his actions after the death of his father has left him in the crosshairs.

Diego is mesmerized by the woman speaking at the fund raiser. He’s always been intrigued by her but seeing her in person is not at all what he was expecting. She’s more beautiful in person and he knows that it’s dangerous if he pursues her. Little does he know that his actions six months prior has put his family and hers in direct paths and he will become her savior, again.

Serena has a secret that she doesn’t want to share with the world, but her new path in life has brought more danger to her family than they were expecting. Serena’s new foundation is in contrast to her family’s business, not hers directly, but the mafia’s.

This story was suspenseful, dangerous, and kept me on the edge of my seat towards the end. I loved every bit of it and I am so excited for the next story. I love watching these men who are so dangerous fall to their knees when their soul mates come into their line of sight. Watching a big, dark, dangerous man get taken down to a softy is so entertaining. I give this story a 4.5-star review and encourage readers who like mafia, dangerous men, and strong dangerous women to read Kristen Luciani’s books. They are great and you will not be disappointed.

This is the first book in the Marcone mafia family. This is the story of Diego and Serena Vitale. Serena Vitale is a mafia princess who was kidnapped and almost sold in the sex trafficking ring one of the other mafia families was running. After that, she wanted to fight for all those other girls and women who were forced into sex trafficking. She started a foundation to help the victims of sex trafficking. She wants to do more and doesn’t want to be helpless anymore. Diego is the enforcer in his family. He let his emotions rule him when he wanted revenge for those responsible for killing his father. He started his own event production company and has vowed to stay away from women. When Diego and Serena meet, they are both instantly attracted to each other and feel a connection when they start talking. Of course, Franco Vitale will put a stop to anyone he doesn’t feel is worthy of his daughter. When Diego hears Serena talk about her foundation, something changes in him and he just wants to protect this woman.

This is filled with deception, betrayal, revenge, tragedy, passion, trust, family and loyalty. I am looking forward to reading more of this series and will definitely be going to purchase the other books to find out what happens with Anthony, Tommy and Vince Marcone. Great start to the series! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This was such a great read and action packed from the beginning. Diego is the enforcer for the Marcone family and Serena is the princepessa and only child of the Vitales. Diego has been taking out the people responsible for his father’s murder. Serena is now a voice for women being trafficked. She wants to help stop it and has a new foundation. She is a very strong-willed and feisty woman who speaks her mind. In their quests, both have managed to catch the eye of a certain man and that man wants to put an end to all of them. We met the Marcones in Vengeful, the Severnov’s books. However, you don’t need to read those to understand these. Diego and Serena are cut from the same cloth. They are both in mafia families and they both have guilt a mile high. These two had such a strong and instant connection. They were fated to be together. This has suspense, lots of action, deceit, trust and twists and turns. Diego is willing to put his life on the line to keep Serena safe. This is another great start to a new family and I can’t wait for more. I love the story and the characters are fantastic. War has started again. Who will come out on top?

Wanted is the first book in the Men of Mayhem series by Kristen Luciani, and is a love at first sight, mafia romance. There was plenty of drama, suspense, deception, chemistry and steam to keep the story intriguing.
In Wanted, Serena is the only daughter of the most powerful mafia family in Italy. Her beliefs and work ethics has stirred up the unwanted attention of another mafia family, causing the death of her mother. Tired of hiding, Serena risks going out for a coffee, only to be nearly taken out by a would-be assassin.
Diego is from the Moreno family. After the death of his father, he blamed himself for missing all the signs and went on a violent rampage, seeking revenge on all those responsible for his father's death. He's always had a crush on Serena, and meeting her in person only heightened those feelings. But he never saw or heard from her again after the gala, until two months later he feels her in a coffee shop and stops the attempt on her life.
This story was everything that a mafia romance should be, while also relaying a message on human trafficking and the dangers as it is real and a lucrative business in the black market skin trade. I'm intrigued to hear about the rest of the Moreno brothers now after seeing how tight and family oriented they are.

Serena is determined to make her own way, without the influence of her mafia boss father Franco. But being a Vitale, she knows there are dangers. The big night of her charity event proves how close the dangers truly lurk.
Diego sees her in person for the first time at her charity event. When she comes to him, he is taken - knowing they have a connection, but her father makes it clear that he should keep his distance. Diego’s brother taking over the family business after their father was killed, he can understand Vitale’s protectiveness since he and his brothers are the same.
After months of hiding, Diego and Serena’s paths cross once again. Little do they both know, it happened sooner than planned. As they grow closer, the danger escalates and when Serena is taken will Diego be able to save her?

Holy crap - Kristen will take you on a ride with this fantastically written mafia romance. Once I started reading I couldn’t stop until the end. It has all the nail biting suspense that I love, had me questioning who sold out to who, and the chemistry between Diego and Serena is off the charts! I loved how Kristen pulled me in and kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end - the cherry on the pie was the lead in to Ant’s story. I can’t wait to see where Kristen takes her Men of Mayhem series.

(3.5 stars)

Serena is the princess of a crime family and Diego is a son in another family; the two are in the same circle but don't really have anything to do with each other. Diego has always been attracted to Serena and at an event he does actually get to speak with her for a very short moment. Months later (I believe its months, was kind of not clear) Diego ends up saving Serena's life in a coffee shop, from there its a fight to stay alive for both of them and as they are unsure as to who is hunting them they aren't even sure what direction to look. Will Diego and his family be able to keep Serena safe, or are they all in danger?

Seeing as this is a mafia style story, I expect the H to be the uber alpha male type. Diego was not this type, in fact there are times where I felt that Serena was more alpha male than he was. I found this to be missing something, I can't even tell you what, I keep wracking my brain as to what it is that I'm not getting. In the end I found this to just be an ok story, and give it 3.5 stars.

Although I am normally not a Mafia romance reader, I am well acquainted with the work of Kristen Luciani. I decided to give Wanted a try. I was not disappointed just on the edge of my seat for the entire ride. Serena is a mafia princess however she has a heart for the every day woman after experiencing fear and pain at the hands of the scum of the earth. Diego and his brothers are putting the pieces together of their shattered family business after the death of their father a couple years ago. When they are at an event sponsored by Serena's family and foundation, Diego falls under the spell of her laugh and her smile and her spirit. Sadly both families have their enemies and they have vowed to destroy both their families. It's so difficult to live a life on the edge, constantly looking over your shoulder, trying to protect the ones you love. I loved this story even though the anxiety level is high through the entire book. Be prepared for a marathon read.

This is the first book I've read by this author, and I was so captivated by all of the twists and turns, the betrayal, the suspense, and of course the romance!

Serena is a mafia princess, but she has such a pure and open heart. She's determined to make a name and life for herself outside of her father's legacy. She works with women who are victims of sexual trafficking, (which is a topic that needs to be discussed more and more, because it is such a large issue in today's world), and while she's hosting a charity event, she meets the handsome, breathtaking Diego. These two have such an intense connection, and you can just *feel* their chemistry! With danger lurking in the background, can Serena and Diego keep their love, and themselves, alive?

WHOA. This was such a rollercoaster romance, and I'm so glad I was able to read this book!! I will definitely be reading more of this author!!

sweet steamy and suspenseful- mafia light rom

I really liked this mafia romance by KL. While the story of Diego Marcone and Serena Vitali is set in the mafia world and we see a fair share of violence, their story was actually very sweet. These two practically fall for each other at first sight. Complications arise that keep Diego and Serena from each other, but a chance meeting in a coffee shop (where Diego saves Serena from a hitman) brings them together again. The spark between them is instant. They come together to figure out why Serena has a price on her head and end up completely falling for one another.

I found myself flying through this book because I wanted to know who was behind everything. Diego and Serena were so cute together and had definite chemistry. The ending is an HEA, but it also leads into the next book in the series. If you're looking for something in the mafia-light category, this one's for you

This book is a dark roller coaster of emotions. We get action, suspense, mystery, and of course some hot chemistry between the two main characters. Serena is smart, classy, and a little bit like a lost cub in the woods. She is determined to make it on her own, and to stand on her own two feet. She has been through something horrific that her family has kept under wraps. Diego has demons of his own. He carries the guilt of past actions, and is just as determined to right his wrongs. When he meets Serena the instant connection they both feel can not be denied. With constant outside forces determined to not only tear them apart, but possibly kill them they need to stay ever vigilant. Follow along on their journey to see if they can overcome the malicious forces out to destroy them.
