These weren't the Christmas surprises they expected... Christmas chaos at the Melson house usually involves wrapping paper and toys, not a broken window and a bare space under the tree. After a morning of questioning officers and chattering children, Amanda resigns herself to a very un-Christmasy day. But can the heroes on the Pineville police force find a way to save the family's Christmas?
Rebekah A. Morris has lived her entire life (as of now) in Missouri. Being home educated during her school years was great, except for writing. That was the worst subject (along with math) that she had to do. It wasn't until after she graduated that she discovered the joys and wonder of writing. Now she can't write enough. After spending six years in research and writing, she completed her first book, "Home Fires of the Great War," a 500+ page, historical fiction about home life in the United States and Canada during the First World War. Since then, she has been an avid writer and always has more than one story going on at once because only one story at a time got tiring and dull.
Such a sweet story! The big-family chaos was perfectly spot-on, and I loved the kindness and understanding of the police officers, not to mention the focus on first responders in general. I also loved the way the family found to show their gratitude. <3 Two thumbs up!
I wrote the summary for this book and received a free copy from the author. A positive review was not required. All opinions are my own.
4.5 stars & 5/10 hearts. I loved the plot of this story! Such a good reminder about what the police force does for us. The kids were precious and I loved their interaction! ;)
A Favourite Quote: “She realized for the first time that the officers who had responded to her call had all been working on Christmas Day. They hadn’t been home enjoying the holiday with their families. And they weren’t the only ones helping keep the citizens of Pineville safe.” A Favourite Humorous Quote: “‘And here comes Captain Reagan with your children.’ “Amanda looked up, and a slight smile crossed her face. The captain looked more like the Pied Piper than a police officer, as, with a twin in either arm and the other five children tagging along behind him, he stepped into the kitchen.”
This is such a lovely little christmas-y story! The children in it are so sweet! Also, despite the serious situations there is still some humor in it (see quote below😉). The story made me aware once again of the sacrifice police officers / doctors / bus drivers etc. make Christmas, by working instead of celebrating with their families.
Quote: “Merry Christmas. I hope the rest of your day is – boring?” What did you hope for a police officer on Christmas Day?
A quick holiday story to make your spirits burn a little brighter. A story of how a mom and her kids turned Christmas around after all of their Christmas presents were stolen -- right from underneath their tree!
The audiobook narration is done well. Would recommend if you're a listener.
Super quick listen (great narrator) about a family who is robbed on Christmas Eve and the police force that is determined to save Christmas! Also shares the importance of giving back to those who serve our communities.
A Police Force for Christmas is a wonderful short story about a mother and her kids following a break-in that occurred in the wee hours of Christmas morning and how the local police force rally together to make it a Christmas that the family will not soon forget. This story is sweet and touching, and I love the support for our officers that shines through the story, showing how human they are when that often seems to be forgotten.
I love Christmas and appreciate the police who risk their lives even (or especially) on holidays! Combining the two was a great idea and made a nice little story. But I do want to know what happened to the original presents....;)
