The Playroom #2

Mine, Body and Soul: Part 2

Rate this book
Can the way you view your body change, when all you see are scars?

Nathan Bridges is an exhibitionist who loves his life as a Dom. Then one fateful day, that all changed and Nathan has spent the last ten years hiding from what happened.

That is until Lenny shows him what true bravery is.

The feelings he has for Lenny give him back what has been missing from his life and allows Nathan to truly embrace the present and let go of the past to see that beauty is more than just a body.

But life is never that simple, as forces beyond their control work against them.

This is the second part of the Mine, Body and Soul trilogy in The Playroom series. It is an MM age gap gay romance with aspects of BDSM, and a sexual awakening that has the power to free both men from the chains of their past and drive the true Dom inside Nathan to reappear.

This is the second book in the trilogy and the author advises these books should be read in order to be able to understand the storyline. This book ends on a cliffhanger with the HEA coming in the third and final book.

Warning - This book contains some violence and touches briefly on past traumas and childhood issues

Where does one start with about what I do?
I’m a writer, but I’m sure you guessed that by now if you’re reading this, hey? What you might not know is I’m a little quirky, live in my pj’s most of the time and have cake Saturdays with my sisters every week. I dedicate a little of my time to taking care of my grandbabies and on the dedicated writing days I like to write an eclectic mix of romance, suspense and paranormal fantasy. In the main I’ve written gay romance but I’m branching out under another the pen name in the future, so watch this space.
I’ve a passion for books like you would not believe and it led me down this path and now I’ve over 29 books released and heading towards releasing a whole lot more. The way my head is I never know where I’ll be headed next. I hope you’ll find a little joy in my words and follow me to see where the journey takes me and you.
If you’re interested at some point in 2021 I’ll be writing under the name JP Paton which will be F/M crime and Fantasy two of my favourite things. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled 

Great story, and surprisingly full of action.

I honestly thought that, as soon as Nathan and Lenny got together, that would be it. Classic romance. I'm so glad I was wrong. This becomes more interesting the more I read. I can't wait to read the next one.

Oh my god JP is in so much trouble! How could she do that to poor Lenny and Ferron. And to leave it on that cliffhanger - what kind of #evilauthor shenanigans was that?!?!?!
That whole thing with Devon took me by surprise. Knew we hadn’t seen the last of him but damn had not seen it coming that he’d be part of Nathan and Lenny’s story.
The tension at the end of the book wow- I'm sure my fellow readers will also be biting off JP's hand for book 3.

Meanwhile I loved see Lenny and Nathan's relationship developing. I adored how Lenny gives Nathan a run for his money and stands up for himself. Like seeing the Dom having to work for his partner's submission. Nathan can be a bit full on at times to the extent that he annoys me at times. But I like that. I want MCs that aren’t perfect and who go on a journey. And in this book we get to know why Nathan is like he is. Love seeing Lenny smooth out his rough edges.
When Lenny kisses Nathan’s scars *sob* 😭😭😭😭😭. And the line about their scars uniting them - perfect.
I am so in love with Lenny. There were so many times I just wanted to give him a hug sometimes to sooth his pain and others cos he's just so adorable. The thing with him snuggling under Nathan's T-shirt - all the feels!

This was a super second book to the series. I’m fully on board with them as a couple and felt like I’ve gotten to know them better now and can't wait for book 3.

Left me wanting more (an audio review)

I listened to the first book in this trilogy and enjoyed it. I specifically liked that one of the heroes has a major medical illness but that it, for the most part, doesn’t stop him from moving on with life. He has a job and his adoptive mother Nellie. He has a few friends and he exercises to take care of himself. He also faces what life has thrown at him with as much dignity as his illness allows. After all the books I’ve read with healthy, muscular, gorgeous men, frankly, it’s nice to have someone more real. Both types of heroes have their place, to be sure. It’s just that Lenny is sympathetic, and I rooted for him the entire book. Felt his embarrassment. Honored his pain. Cheered for his relationship with Nathan to succeed.

I also fell a little bit in love with Nathan. He stepped up to the plate and accepted Lenny for who he was. He even became a little high-handed, but, frankly, Lenny needed that in his life. He’d have remained forever stuck if not for Nathan’s encouragement to reach for his dreams. Okay, so this book picks up where the other leaves off. I suppose it could be read without the having read book one, but I highly recommend reading them in sequence.

Lenny is closer, in this book, to moving past his illness. He’s facing a Herculean task he’ll have to endure, but there might be a light at the end of the tunnel. To be clear, this book offers no easy answers that’ll be wrapped up quickly. It’s a process and a slow one. Meanwhile, Nathan is pursuing Lenny. Oh, he’s happy to take on the role of caregiver when needed, but he also wants to be Lenny’s Dom. Again, this works. And shows that people with chronic illnesses can enjoy healthy BDSM relationships. I’ve seen this myself in various different forms, and I’m always happy to see friends finding someone who accepts them for who they are.

So, all that being said, this was a binge-worthy book and I plowed through it in less than a day. I was pulled into the story, especially the scene in the club where both men were on full display – scars and all. I know how hard it is to be undressed in front of strangers, but there is also a sense of accomplishment when you do manage to do it. Then the book ends on a cliffhanger. Man, my heart was squeezed with worry. But I know it’ll all work out in the end and I can’t wait for book 3.

Matt Haynes again did a great job of narrating this book. He has distinctive voices for each character and has a good rhythm for each. He provides a solid performance and I wouldn’t hesitate to listen to him again in the future. So I’m happily waiting for the final instalment of this great trilogy.

Nathan and Lenny become even closer in their second installment. They open up more about their individual pasts, their demons, and they talk more about the lifestyle. Lenny obviously isn't entrenched in the lifestyle, so he doesn't know all the ins and the outs. But he's slowly but surely coming around to Nathan's way of conducting a relationship. And they come to some serious realizations about their feelings for each other.

And then that dang cliffhanger, and now I'm on the edge of my seat, waiting impatiently until the next part comes out so I can find out what happens!!

Mind, Body, and Soul is the second book in the Playroom Series by author JP Sayler. This is more like the second part of a book. I am not a fan of how this book is broken up into three separate books. It is written serial style and for me, I am finding that style is not for me. There is a cliff hanger at the end of this story as well.

Warnings for this story are traumas and childhood issues this story touches on are not for everyone. If you are a sensitive reader just be warned there are touchy topics in this story. I personally had no issues with this, but you should be aware before you read this story.

This story is not standalone. Is an ongoing storyline and the middle of the series. You must read this in order if you do not want to get lost.

Nathan loves being a dom. He is an exhibitionist, and he has been hiding from who he really is for a long time now. He has PSTD and flashbacks. He is a very layered character.

Lenny has agreed to be his. He has to reluctantly reveal some of his own issues. For years he has avoided being totally naked in front of others.

Overall a good storyline, nothing is really resolved in this installment of the overall storyline. I am okay with it but wished there were more connections and closure.

Two men who have been through physical and emotional hell have survived and built lives for themselves. They have also built walls to keep their emotions in and other people out. One day, they meet and the attraction is instantaneous. The first book in the series covered Nathan and Lenny acknowledging their attraction and agreeing they wanted a relationship. This book shows just how hard tearing down those walls can be, even when both partners have love and the best of intentions on their side. The torture Nathan endured was referenced in the first book, but it is vividly described as the very first thing in this book. It is not gratuitous or lovingly described as it often is in current popular serial killer books but because of our connection to Nathan and how much we are rooting for him to heal it is painful to read. Be aware that this book could be much more triggering for some people that the first one was. Then, there is the cliffhanger ending. I am still shaking from where this left off and I dare not even hint at a spoiler. I thought I knew how it would end but I was completely wrong. How can we wait until Valentine's Day for this conclusion???

Thank you for the ARC read, I voluntarily give this book an honest review. Starting right off with past trauma from Nathan time in war beings back the issues of why he hasnt taken a sub fully. Nathan is trying to do this relationship with a contract but it seems to be difficult to follow through-with Lenny's request sometimes. Taking care of his sub/boyfriend is all Nathan wonts, but can he prove as strong as Lenny when it comes to trusting with his own body issues? After all both are learning something new in this whole relationship department. And what is really eating at Paulo? Will one night of drunken stupidity push Nathan to far when  dealing with a wilful drunk sub or prove he is just the man for Lenny. Just as the club scene is getting good a douche shows up to ruin Lenny's and Nathan's feel good vibe.
Who has their hands more full the Sub or Dom in this equation of the strong will battle? On pins and needles waiting to see what else is in store for Nathan with his little Naughty Sub warning is a big freaking cliff of hanging for the next book, but so worth the read.

This book needs to be read in order to know what happen previously.
The story picks up from the last book with Farron a sub that's been badly treated was staying briefly with Nathan.
A beautifully written story for this couple and it's said the subs have most of the power with Doms. In this case is Lenny testing the barriers with Nathan. This story has lots happening within the book that it kept me reading in one sitting to late at night. The ending is a huge cliffhanger which had me needing the next book asap. Nathan and Lenny relationship is not an easy one but together they get through it... so far..

Nathan was an ex-military and a Dom and had been through as trouble past of physical violent attacks which he still has nightmares.
Now he had Lenny to teach about submission but Lenny's health comes first.

JP Sayles is a very talented writer and her books have a way of drawing you in, falling in love with her boys and hanging around to read just how each of their tales will evolve to their happy ever after. I just love these boys, these two beautifully broken men deserve each other because they each have know great pain and survived. Nathan and Lenny have so much to give to someone they care for, but it is going to take time to figure out the best way to do it. The biggest gift they have going is being able to talk to each other, with time, lots of effort and patience they will have to decide if they are worth all the effort it takes to build a long lasting relationship, I can't wait to find out how this story ends!

In this second part we witnessed how the D/s relationship changed and we now have a Lenny trying to understand his role while struggling with his own doubts and his growing feelings for Nathan. We also got some backstory that helped us to understand the issues Nathan had that avoided him to get a sub before and how they were affecting his relationship with Lenny. But in this part two we also got a danger lurking underneath until an unexpected cliffhanger end. More amazing characters, plot being more intense as the story advances and a a D/s relationship in the making... these are the elements for a wonderful reading. Book three is going to be a blast!!!
I received this book as an ARC and this is my honest opinion.

This storyline continued on from the 1st part, Nathan and Lenny learning more about each other, in this story we got an insightful look at Nathan’s background and what he endured my heart went out to him, such pain. I love the secondary characters getting to know more about them, I kind of hope they have their stories, there is humour, some spankings and I didn’t see the ending that came, I balled my eyes out. Wow.

I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book for my honest opinions of which I’m under no obligation to do so. I really love this authors writing style and definitely recommend this book.

Part two picks up immediately from where book one ends.
Nathan the experienced Dom and Lenny the inexperienced submissive have a connection that just cannot be denied.
Lenny has issues stemming from his childhood and Nathan has his own issues due to his previous work.
As they figure out what works best for their D/s relationship, they learn they are better together.
The plot is engaging, with characters from previous books, Lenny getting much awaited news and Nathan finally facing his fears.
Unbeknownst to them, danger lurks which leads to an epic cliffhanger. I’m so eager for part three now.

Amazing second book

I am really enjoying the story of Lenny and Nathan so far.
Potential spoilers in the below review.
I loved the dynamic that develops between Nathan and Lenny, how they both push boundaries to test the limits of their new relationship. It was great to read. Some development outside of this made the book all the more interesting as it shifts the dynamic some more.
I did expect an HFN but definitely not the cliffhanger :-) :-( especially when it happens. I was happy with the last little scene we got after, as it eased my mind but won't make it easier to wait for the next book

In any case, that was a great book that I couldn't put down and really recommend

I was looking forward to this book and I wasn’t disappointed, but you do have to read book one first and warning this book ends on a cliffhanger.

Nathan and Lenny are working on their relationship which was so good and so well written. I really do like this author style as you are drawn into the world that she has created, there is plenty going on in this book, which will keep you reading, I personally couldn’t put it down and I really can’t wait for the third part of the series. Well worth reading.

I loved Lenny and Nathan before but after reading this I just love them so much more., seeing Lenny grow and mature in to his own. which just so beautiful to see, and to see Nathan deal and heal with his truma and old wounds, which was just so well done

It does end on a cliffhanger, but that just makes me even more keen and excited for the next part, I cant wait to see what happens with Lenny and Nathan

Mine, Body and Soul: Part Two is the second book in The Playroom series by JP Sayle. It is a contemporary m/m romance with kink, an age gap and love. Nathan and Lenny are fascinating characters who have experience great trauma and have scars both physically and emotionally from their pasts. Together they find so much and they are beautiful and strong and I am enjoying their journey together. This story has drama, humor, sweetness and heat... and that cliffhanger has me anxious for book three.

Lenny and Nathan have both some issues to dig through together, and they are also learning together.
I connected well with them both, and I also liked the flow of this story. The author has down a great job with her characters. Im definitely going to read this again.

Wow!!!

It was so beautiful to see these two get closer and open up more for each other. I love how we get to watch every step as they progress. This is a hard cliff hanger! We are left with no clues to what the outcome will be at all. Not only that but we have a month to wait for it. A MONTH!! This is going to drive me nuts. I can't deny that I'm hooked though. I'm going to need to read it asap. Yes I am going crazy wondering but I have no doubt it'll be worth it.

Mine, Body, and Soul is a multipart series with each part ending in a cliffhanger. Read the first part first before starting Part 2. Part 2 picks up immediately from where Part 1 ended. This book has just as much drama and action as Part 1. There are a lot of sweet and sexy moments between Nathan and Lenny that are wonderful. I became invested in their relationship and was rooting for them through the highs and lows.

Wow! This was a gripping second part of this trilogy...I so need part 3 very soon to know what happens! The author does warn that it's a cliffhanger at the end of this part6, but gosh... it's very dramatic! Lenny does get his op, but then he proves to be quite a bratty patient! He certainly keeps Nathan on his toes! LOL ;)
