Are you ready for the big show? Maisy and her friends show little ones what it's like to attend their first live performance.
Today, Maisy and her friends are off to the theater to see a show starring Flora Fantastica! First they line up to show their tickets. After the usher helps them all find their seats, the lights go down, and Maisy and her friends take in a feast for the senses: dramatic flashing lights, colorful costumes, amazing songs, and lots of exciting characters. From the rise of the curtain through intermission (and snacks) to a standing ovation at the end, Maisy takes her fans on a trip to the theater that makes a new experience familiar and fun.

okay so i have many thoughts — maisy was a show , was it a show first ?? idk. but this wasn’t my fav maisy first experience book but i think it is cool how they do so many different things! i think it is just harder to follow along with in this way, but like episode this would’ve been great. maybe after they had been reading the Maisy books for awhile or watching the show bc in this book they didn’t point exactly who was who in characters so that would be great for recall to see if they can remember the repeating side characters even if they aren’t addressed in the dialogue. def still tons of potential in one book, which is incredible to me, but i would pick the kitten one first. onto more maisy books.
Maisy and her friends are excited to attend a live show in this Maisy First Experience Book. The familiar characters lead children through a typical night at the theater – the anticipation, being seated, enjoying the show, intermission and talking about the show when it is over. Cousin’s signature bright, chunky illustrations are well-suited for the excitement of a show. The show’s stars – a flamingo and other animals (including scenery changing kangaroos) are eye-catching. This is a perfect read to prepare children for a trip to the theater.
Maisy and her friends go to their very first musical! Using characters familiar to kids, this is a great way to introduce children to live theatre: the sequence of events (ticket taking, overture, intermission, etc.) involved with attending a live Broadway show.
Super colorful book about going to the theater for the first time! The preschoolers I read this to were interacting with the story all the way to the end.
