After leaving the big city to start a new life in a charming small town, Victoria Cross has a problem. She’s in love with three men at once—a fun-loving faerie prince, a sophisticated and alluring vampire master, and a sexy-as-hell alpha werewolf. Now that all three of them have proposed marriage, Victoria must make an impossible choice between them. As the writer of the worldwide bestselling Victoria Cross romance novels, Linda Bunbury has a problem. She’s in love with all three of her fictional heartthrobs—a fun-loving faerie prince, a sophisticated and alluring vampire master, and a sexy-as-hell alpha werewolf. For Linda, these characters are much more than words on a page, or the models on her book covers. These men literally inhabit her dreams. With the supernatural gift of lucid dreaming, which makes her dreams indistinguishable from reality, Linda has been living the life of Victoria Cross in her sleep. In this alternate reality, magic is real, monsters exist, and the men are straight out of a romance novel. But now the Victoria Cross series is coming to an end. Not only is Linda contractually obligated to deliver a finale, but her fans all over the world are clamoring to see which man Victoria will choose for her happy ending. With a deadline just three days away, Linda only has time to spend one more night with each of her men before making the fateful decision, knowing that if she chooses one, she also loses the other two. Urban Fantasies is a stand-alone novella (short story) celebrating the genre of Reverse Harem, and the fantasy of having our cake and eating it too! Because why choose?
Jackie May started out writing young adult and contemporary romance under the name Kelly Oram, but she can’t seem to stay in one lane and loves all things paranormal so Jackie May was born. She loves playing RPGs and has her own set of dice that no one is allowed to roll but her. Unfortunately, those dice are cursed and only roll high numbers when she’s taking damage. Since that usually doesn’t work out so well for her, she has to achieve her victories and happy endings through her books. (After torturing her characters for a while first, of course.) She lives in Phoenix, Arizona with her husband, four children, and her cat, Vader. (Yes, as in Darth.)
interesting concept, but too short and doesn't make the jump into real life, which was what I wanted. She still only has the relationships in her lucid dreams. I was hoping this world would be the same as in the Nora Jacobs world and the FMC just hadn't discovered that she was a Dreamwalker. It would have been great for her to find out they were all real people and she could have a real life relationship with each of them.
I couldn't even get past the first chapter. Going back and forth between the story the author is writing to what the author is thinking and doing drove me crazy. Yeah I have always wondered what goes through an authors mind but it's not something I want a book about.
A thrilling concept. This dynamic duo write some of the best UF, RH. Their characters are either very endearing or repulsive and their plots are always thrilling. If you love these genres these books are for your entertainment. Enjoy!
It's a cute novella, I really like it. It is fun to read and I like the characters, how each chapter is dedicated to one of the guys with a drink for them each. I also like the thinking behind an author, it was really an interesting novella.
**Audio book Review** I did not think I would be interested in this, but I tried it anyway. It was different. It gave me a glimpse of what authors mean when they say "the characters are talking to them". I totally get it now. It was ok overall though.
