The latest addition to the Steven Gordon series sees the crew captured by the Albany, as divine retribution for the thwarting of their plans of conquest. The Albany Emperor believes it fitting that they should pay for their crimes against his race by supplying the serum that will take his people into the human solar system. With two of his Royal Household missing, the Modloch Emperor finally unleashes his fury directly at the Albany, in a war the likes of which the galaxy has never witnessed before.
I think I enjoyed this book more than any of the others in the series so far, that doesn’t mean it’s without faults, but these didn’t really detract from the story. The story isn’t always well organised and sometimes incidents and sub-plots seem more like after thoughts. However I found it very easy to read and even though the ending was a bit of a disaster I have still given the book four stars.
An excellent sequel to this series. I do enjoy the way Charlie sorts things out. The dealing with the Albany threat was very unique to say the least. I have most of Mr. Murison's books. Hopefully in the future, maybe the Kilted Coyboy could pay another visit to America. Lord knows there is enough foolishness there for 4 books. Hearing about the ACVs would be nice too. Doesn't matter,Mr. Murison writes it, I'll read it. Bill Hodges
Another book ruined because of what the author thought was an edgy way to resolve a story arc.
What happens at the end of book 6bhas really ruined this otherwise great story. It almost makes me wish I had never bought and read the first 5,95 books. As it just hasn't been the same since that ending and what has happened to the character since then. A truly idiotic way of furthering a story. Rape or in this case forced rape by extenuating circumstances in this story is just wrong.
This story was a very entertaining fast paced action story that I really enjoyed reading. The story of Earth trying to get into the Federation of Planets that consist of a large group of Herbivores was quite fascinating. The bastard Author left this book on a cliffhanger with one of the MC’s turning into a cow person. Please hurry up with the next book.
Two and three quarter stars. More of the same really, inane dialogue, sub-plot detours to nowhere (Station Nine??), and choppy pacing at best. At the core is still a really good story. I kept turning page after page just to follow the next adventures of Steve, Charlie and the crew. If Murison could team up with a decent editor to chisel off all the rough spots, there would be a fine gem of a series left over. It would be much smaller, but stunning, I think.
Reading the series back to back and none have scored less than 4* for me Characters are fun to follow, the stories are a stretch, but it's science fiction, so why wouldn't they be One thing with this sort of thing always seems to paint humans as the new kids on the block with a point to prove and the aggressiveness to do it. This is similar, but for once a few other races are just as aggressive
Mistakes: This book has the same type of mistakes as all the other books. Plot: Very simple war and politics. Old friends and new. Characters: Charlie just keeps getting more interesting. 8/10
Maybe the best book of the series thus far, and now the wait starts all over for the next one. And still Kimora annoys the shit out of me, I honestly can't see what she contributes to the storyline except for a lot of whining and disapproving looks etc.
This book was so complex I'll have to read it over at least twice to begin to have a handle on it. Fortunately, I enjoy Murison's style and Scots accent so much it will be fun.
If you have a chance to read this, it would be a start from the beginning and go to the end. That’s what I’m doing right now. These weren’t books weren’t on kids bookstore but you can buy them now for Kendall. Have fun great read.
