When the clans go to war, will the true light be enough to save everyone?
G. Bailey is a USA Today bestselling author of books that are filled with everything from dragons to pirates. Plus, fantasy worlds and breath-taking adventures. Oh, and some swoon-worthy men that no girl could forget. G. Bailey is from the very rainy U.K. where she lives with her husband, two children and three cheeky dogs.
Okay so I am mixed about Shadow Kiss. It is the last book in the series, and I am sad to see it end. As always Gem does an excellent job of finishing a series on a good note. That ending was just what was needed.
The story felt fast, I don't know if that is because I read it fast, or it was shorter, but it seemed like in no time I was done. But overall this series is one that I would definitely recommend for any paranormal romance fan, and a must read for a G. Bailey fan.
Also, I know Gem has amazing covers, but can I just give a shout out for this sereis covers. As always they are eye catching and beautiful.
It has been a long time since reading the last book in this series so I had to do a reread beforehand, which I was glad to do because it meant falling in live all over again.
Shadow Kiss is the last book in this trilogy and whilst it is bittersweet to say goodbye to these characters I glad to see another HEA.
I will say though the only reason why I gave a 3 ⭐️ rating is because I felt that the story was to quick not sure if I feel like it was rushed or just fast paced but it is slightly shorter than the others and I also feel that the battle could have been a little more epic but it was over very quickly.
Shadow Kiss is the final book in Aura and Maxx's series, From the Stars. This conclusion was very fast paced and honestly, I was a little lost at first because it's been a little while since I read the previous books, but once I got a few chapters in everything came flooding back. I just feel like I didn't quite connect with this story as I have with other stories of Gem's in the past.
I did enjoy the story premise of the light and dark clans and learning more about the true light in this book. We finally get a greater understanding of what the true light is and how it really affects Aura and Maxx. The responsibility thrust upon them is great and leads to a very difficult decision.
I also enjoyed learning more about Aura's family. At the end of the last book, we are left believing that Aura is mostly alone in the world, with only one psychotic relative and a reappearing mother who she doesn't quite understand anymore. But it turns out Aura has more family than she knew, which was a very nice surprise.
While this book did seem very fast paced, I was quite satisfied with the ending. Okeken, our evil dark tyrant, is defeated- and the one to land the killing blow isn't quite who you'd expect. Twists like this are why I keep coming back to Gem's books!
The end of the journey for Aura & Maxx, do they get their HEA? Like all of G Bailey's books, they do get their HEA, we meet some new characters, & in typical Bailey style there would probably be a spin-off within the universe.
I think this is a new genre for G Bailey as I don't think there is any sci-fi books that she has written, in all honesty, From the Stars could have been written as a duet instead of a trilogy. I gotta admit though that these covers for the series are so pretty.
This trilogy ends on a HEA, which is never old with all the feel goods of everything working out seamlessly for the characters involved. The True Light was accepted wholeheartedly by the Light Clan as they prepared themselves for the inevitable war with the Dark Clan while hoping for a lasting peace. This book felt too fast paced, nothing with other character interactions and the whole feel felt very immature. The characters inner monologues short and childish sounding, they didn’t show any qualities that proved they were capable of leading an army along with no preparations or strategies being discussed. This was more of a quick novella that tied the ends quickly without much care, which is unfortunate for the previous books were good and this series had decent potential. Aura’s life has changed drastically and after her daring escape from Austin and his torturous plans, and heartbreaking truth of losing a loved one, Aura begins to barley process such life altering emotions when more exciting revelations are given. Aura adjusts to the news of her new family beginning the healing and accepting process while navigating her place among the Clan and the leadership role she is forced to bare. Maxx has accepted his new role in life effortlessly and immediately sets to work securing their safe haven and accepting new members into the Clan while gently and patiently guiding and teaching his mate the ways of their world and new given powers. The romance between the main characters is very sweet and innocent, as they grow in trust and love they begin to rely and depend on one another for guidance and strength in all their decisions. The supporting characters are interesting though their interactions are limited, their journeys all end on happy peaceful fulfilling moments in life.
**SPOILERS**
Besides the story being a novella, too fast paced that made it seem it was done without care, the war between the Clans was very unsatisfying and how the peace was brought about absolutely ridiculous. I didn’t agree or like how two individuals were given the choice and deciding to strip their alien race of people of half their identities by absorbing all the uniqueness that makes them who they are. Taking all of their abilities and powers and forcing the Clans to change without giving them a choice, the concept was absurd and cowardly. I would image a lot of resentment from the Clans as their identity was stripped and forced to conform to others around them that are all the same yet witnessing two individuals with their abilities and passing such genetic gifts onto their offspring only unjust. Thought Maxx and Aura accepted and took the responsibility of caring for an entire race of alien human like people, their rule of King and Queen was unsatisfying in how they obtained such power. A disappointing read for what could of being a good series.
Maxx and Aura's story has come to an end. The true light has been united and it's up to them to take care of the magic and world from now on.
I was hoping that this would be just a bit longer. I was happy to see more one and one time between Maxx and Ura. More tender moments that made us readers remember why we cheered them on for so long. I was also thrilled to see that there was a support character who really stepped up and took their chance. The twist in the war was a pretty great one and made it a bit more dynamic.
I give major credit to G.Bailey for tying up all of the loose ends- we are often left with them and it's refreshing to see that that is not the case in this series. I loved this series because it is such a different twist to the true mate dynamic and it really showed the struggle of getting on the right page with your partner. It was compelling and frustrating and hard to put down!
The only reason it's a 3 for me is because it was so short. I feel like the war could have been a bit more. It seemed to happen quite quickly. I feel like this series could have been a duology rather than a trilogy and it would have been just as dynamic and impactful.
Well the end has come and I'm so sad to have read those last few words! I was hoping that this would be just a smidge longer. I would have loved to see more one and one time between Maxx and Ura. More tender moments that made us readers sigh and remember why we cheered them on for so long. I do give credit to Ms. Bailey for tying up all of those loose ends!! She did that just beautifully! I loved this series because it is such a different twist to the true mate dynamic! It was compelling and frustrating and hard to put down! The series also has the most gorgeous covers!!
Such a great, but short ending! Everything wrapped up well and happily ever afters for everyone! I think the section where what happened to the original true light was explained was a bit rushed. I think it could have been longer and more detailed.
I am so glad I read this series! It was a great as I thought it was going to be and I loved everything about it. Maxx and Aura are great characters and I'm glad they finally worked through their problems and admitted how they felt.
I loved this ending to an interesting series. The author did an amazing job of wrapping up what is an original and interesting twist on a fated mate story. Maxx and Aura compliment each other and challenge each other in a way that makes you want to know more about them and what they are trying to do in order to save their people. The ending was unexpected, but fantastic. I rather enjoyed this series and am sad to see it come to an end.
I loved this series! It's on of my favorites. I love G. Bailey's work so much. However, this book was shorter than I expected. I'm not sure if it was just me, if it's because I'm reading super long books, or if it was KU but I finished this book very quickly. I wish there was a bit more to it but I'm glad about the ending. Maxx and Aura are great. The ending, I didn't see coming. It was a great series! Sad to see it end.
I am so sad to see this series end because I have loved the story and the characters. It's always a bittersweet moment when a series you love ends. I wanted to know how Gem would end it but I also wanted to keep the story going. This author is always fantastic at endings and this one was no different. I am going to miss Aura and Maxx. The only thing that was a negative about this book was how fast it went. It felt extremely rushed. You still get the story but it was forced.
Such a wonderful series!!! I'm really sad to see it end. It had such a good ending . I was definitely happy at how everything was wrapped up even though I wanted more. This was a unique series that sucked you in from page one to the last page of this book.
I'm a huge fan of G, Baileys books. I really enjoyed reading this series. Shadow kiss ideas a great final. However... I felt Bailey could have taken the book a lot further. This particular story felt rushed. But that being said I still loved it hence the 5 stars! As always pick up G, Baileys books if you can their addictive and fantastic.
Maxx and Aura show love in all they do especially together. Being the True Light is one of the hardest things that is set on their shoulders but together they fight against loss, anger and towards happiness
And it's over!😭 G. Bailey wraps up Aura and Maxx's story in Shadow Kiss. I hope we get a follow up on them in the future. I loved the soulmate/true light dynamic. But we also have lost family reunited in a big way! No spoilers but I will say you'll get teary eyed for sure!
I really liked all the tied up loose ends. Max and Aura are great and I liked the dynamic with the newish family members. The pace of the story was a little too fast maybe?? But, it was a nice ending.
I feel like I have been waiting forever to find out what happens to Maxx and Aura. I loved this series but wished this ending would have been longer. Everything does get resolved and as always leaves an opening within Gem’s galaxy. All in all a good series.
Epic love with great weight on their shoulders. I couldn't put the book down and loved the way it ended. Wish there more one on one love or a bit longer but it was out together amazingly
A wonderful conclusion to a fantastic series! Maxx and Aura’s story is brilliantly written, it’s sweet, full of challenges and a great twist on mates. The story is fast paced and G Bailey doesn’t fail to deliver on pulling the whole book together. A great series!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Choose 5 stars because i thoroughly enjoyed this series. Although im not sure how i feel about all the powers being taken. I would be pissed if i was the clan lol. But regardless, it was another good book /series!!!!
Say it aint so! 😭 i cant believe this is over! i will forever remember this sweet stars!! Maxx and Aura for ever!!💕! I loved it from start to finish! its a really fast pace story with enough romance, friendships, family heartbreak and action pack! I loved the story so much and the covers are beautiful! i purchased all three books tru amazon!! woohoo! Im seriously thinking of dying my hair Pink 💕🌙#PinkHairDontCare
I waited for the ending story of this book a few months. It was a beautiful tale spun to take us into the future, showing that in the end, love always wins.
I was so entranced by the story that it just flew by. I really like the characters and I couldn’t stop reading about them. I was bummed that the story ended.
