Her mother dying in a poisonous plot of power. An instrument of peace threatening destruction. A warrior determined to uncover her secrets.
Piper Akins has lived her entire life in the clutches of an evil cult and yearns to run away. But with her mother’s life at stake, she is forced to follow the leaders’ demands to search for the supposed magical trumpet of King Tut—knowing the power it will give them once it is in their possession.
Math might be the smartest warrior in the force, but the only way to prove himself is to work with Piper to find the missing trumpet of peace and defeat the evil cult before they can destroy the world. However, Piper has secrets, and the fulfillment of her quest means the failure of his.
While she and Math circle around each other, pretending one thing, believing another, Piper finds herself falling for the brave warrior. But her mother will die if Piper doesn’t betray him. And Math must offer more than muscles and brains to win Piper over. He must offer his heart.
Can both learn to trust each other in time to stop mankind’s annihilation?
Allie Burton has always been a reader and writer. She wrote her first novel at the age of twelve when she was stranded at a hospital by a snowstorm. Receiving her first romance from her grandmother, she fell in love with the genre. As an adult, she read young adult books with her own teens and was excited to find something fresh and new. Now, she writes both.
Having so many jobs as a teen and adult became great research material for the stories she writes. She has been everything from a bike police officer to a professional mascot escort to an advertising executive. She has lived on three continents and in four states and has studied art, fashion design, and marine biology.
Allie is a member of several writing organizations. She splits her time between Arizona and Colorado where she skis, golfs, and bikes.
What would you do if you were a teen, and forced to choose between your mother’s life and doing the right thing? What if NOT doing the right thing could unleash a hellish evil on the Earth? Piper’s life has been one turmoil filled day after another, the life of a prisoner, a pawn in the mystery surrounding an ancient Egyptian trumpet said to possess magical powers and the daughter to an ailing mother who belongs to an age-old Egyptian cult.
The Ancient trumpet of peace is missing and the ancient Soul Warrior, Math is assigned to find it. Together Piper and Math will brave dangers to uncover and retrieve the trumpet, but are their goals really the same? Piper must have the trumpet to save her mother, Math must have it to save the world. Neither planned on the attraction they share or the betrayals that may come. Piper never planned on learning her life was one lie after another and that she had inherited her own powerful magic. Will her duplicity cost her a budding romance and still not be able to save her dying mother’s life?
Peace Piper by Allie Burton is a contemporary fantasy steeped in a distant past’s legends and curses. Ms. Burton’s characterization of the evil characters is sinister and slimy, while the Soul Warriors give off an aura of good, honor and duty. Poor Piper, a brilliant and clever young girl who is caught in the middle, alone to make decisions based on her limited knowledge and a loss of trust in those in authority.
Allie Burton has kept her tale age appropriate, filled with action, intrigue and richly detailed scenes and emotions. Piper’s inner turmoil feels like another character, it is so well described! Are you looking for a fantasy that ties the secrets of ancient lore with contemporary times? Want a hero who is capable of over-the-top deeds, but still has a sweetness that is captivating? It’s all here from start to finish, thanks to Allie Burton!

Piper is sent off to retrieve an ancient trumpet that is intended to save her mother from a sickness that doesn’t have a name. So when it is stolen before she can even get her hands on it, she is forced to work with Math, a Soul Warrior. Soon she starts realizing that all she has ever known may very well be a lie. And that she is more powerful than she ever believed.
What started off a tad rocky for me (probably because I haven't read the first 2, but was told this was a standalone) soon became a book I hated being away from. I was really, really enjoying what I was reading. So much so, I cannot wait to read book 1.
Yep, it didn't take long and I was jiving along with this storyline and wondering what would happen between Math (adorable name, right?) and Piper (equally adorable). I also wondered if Piper would be able to save her mother from the clutches of Aaron and whisk her off to find healing. Would Piper be able to sort through all the questions weighing down on her before time runs out? All these will be answered before the end of the book. So don't fret.
I think readers who read the first 2 books are really going to like what they read in this one. I mean, I loved it and I am eagerly awaiting a free moment to start the series from the beginning. The characters are fun, flirty and mysterious. The storyline is engaging and wonderfully paced. Oh yes, I am digging these Soul Warriors and their history. 5 Magical Stars!
I enjoyed reading this book. It was interesting. I liked the first book in this series as well. I have not read the second book at all but I was able to read this one as a standalone. I liked the characters and the story line as well. I thought the struggle Piper was going through was tough and it was easy to see why she made the choices that she did. Math was an interesting character as well. I think his backstory was intriguing. The two of them together was magic. I like how they brought out the good in each other. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys paranormal YA romance reads.
I must confess that I was expecting Piper to play the trumpet all through the book like Aria did in the previous book with the Trumpet of War. However the story line here is very different and way more fun. Piper goes to her Uncle's pawn shop to retrieve the trumpet which has been smuggled in to the country on behalf of the Order of Crucis. Only to find her Uncle trying to double cross the Order by selling it to someone else. Only thing is, they steal the trumpet and walk out with one playing the trumpet and putting everyone to sleep.
Everyone but Piper. Now she knows the head of the Order Aaron will never let her hear the end of it should she reveal that she had not fallen asleep. Now the Soul Warriors show up at the pawn shop and she's forced to reveal that detail to Aaron as well, who decides she needs to keep them distracted while the Order retrieves the trumpet from the thieves. The only reason she's doing this is so that she can help cure her mother and take her away. Escape from Math, the reanimated stone warrior is not going to be quite as easy.
Forced to work together Piper falls hard for Math, but then she needs to bring the trumpet to Aaron. Will Math get over her betrayal? Will they be able to survive the fight against the members of the Order? And most importantly, will Piper escape a fate worse than death by being tired eternally to do Aaron's bidding in Pi Day? If you still don't want to read this book to find out, you obviously are strolling the wrong genre aisle!
The silver trumpet! What happens with the other trumpet? That's what you were wondering in the end of the last book right? Well here it is in its very own story!
Piper in some ways has lived a shelterd life, but in others it's been hard getting by every single step of the way. With her mother being a former junky and now deeply involved in a culy she has to figure out a way to get them both out and free. The only problem is her mom is dying and she just HAS to find a way to save her.
Magic trumpet? Yea right, but it just might help free her mother if she trades it to the crazy cult leader. But what about when she starts beliving that magic is real and she happens to have a bit of it in her?
He will do what it takes to prove himself as not just as the brainac of the group, but a strong capable person too. The girl though, she was not part of the plan. He knows she's lying about some things, but can he figure out what in time to get the trumpet, save the girl and maybe get her too?
Math is a sweet adorable nerd, who might not know how to say things sometimes, but he does his best. He cares about the cause, but also about the people around him as well.
Piper has had it rough, but shes done what she had to, and when she couldn't go to school she read book to learn things showing how capable she really is.
They have secrets and troubles galore, but if they can figure it all out they'll be better for it in the end. And I loved every minure of their journey!
I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Allie Burton’s "Peace Piper" was another enjoyable read! The more I read into this series the better I like it.
The protagonist in this installment was not immediately likable. Piper had honorable motives, but she lived with the enemy! By the end of the book, I was pulling for her. She deserved a happy ending. I loved how the love interest, another shabti soldier named Math, wasn’t completely trusting in Piper. He knew there was something about her, but he guarded his heart and needed to be sure of her intentions. A nice break from Xander and Falcon (if you don’t know who they are, stop and read books one and two).
Burton continues to spin a fantastical story involving real Egyptian artifacts. She has taken full license to craft her take on their mythical backgrounds and it’s engaging.
I loved that the plot was more risky in this installment of the Soul Warriors series. A life was at stake instead of simply helping the world avoid catastrophe. Putting a name on that one life made Piper’s situation more endearing.
Ms. Burton if you’re reading this, I want to know more about Piper and her heartless father.
I highly recommend "Peace Piper"! There’s another installment in this story coming….
Story has emotion and is informative, plot is intense & adventurous. Piper is determined and at times indecisive which is expected for her age and considering her mother's situation. Math does seem more mature yet just as naive, he's so supportive. Loads of magic and discovery, great fun and dangerous challenges. I was provided a free copy without obligation and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Is a great book with a touch of romance in small doses, tons of action, adventure and magic. Seems each character is connected in some way to an old character from old. I've honestly enjoyed the series so far and will continue to look out for more like this series. Piper's life is controlled by a cult leader Aaron and her evil uncle Louie. If only her mother wasn't addicted to drugs and the medication that Aaron was giving her. Can no one help her? And who are these warriors that claim they are good and have powers? And why do they say she is the same? She is nothing like them at all or is she?
This is a fantasy full of magic and the constant battle of good and evil. Is also about a 16 year old girl with powers she doesnt know she has. Is also a romance thrown into all the action of battle. Couldnt put down after half way thru. Was an escape from every day life. Thanx to Goodreads.
