This isn't a book about writing and the craft, this is more of a strategic, business-plan type approach which goes into the numbers of audience retention, back catalog sales, etc. The advice is good in terms of marketing and planning to write a series, submitting to anthologies, self-publish vs. traditional publishing. But I'm not so sure it's great for writers who want to know more about writing and less about business. I'm not so sure about this approach though, basically Russell tells you to have at least 3 books ready to go and probably plan to do at least 9 up to about 15. This is to help rotate marketing, keep advertising something else every couple of months, push people to get into your series, build an audience, etc. It's very a technical and crunchy dive into becoming a writer, not what I thought it was but still valuable to know.
If you're tired of launching books to silence and drowning in conflicting marketing advice, Russell Nohelty's guide cuts through the noise with hard-won wisdom from a decade in the trenches. This USA Today bestselling author delivers over 50 practical lessons across three essential sections—Mindset, Writing, and Marketing—covering everything from building resilience and crafting compelling books to launching successfully on Kindle Unlimited or wide, growing your network, and cultivating an eager audience. Obviously, some aspects of the book are not relevant anymore because the publishing world keep changes.
A good book about marketing your products. writing a book was treated as making stickers for children. make more than 3!
That's why I don't read big series, they are written to get readers to pay. It's not about a new and innovating story, something that makes the reader think. It's just about getting them addicted to the characters and make them read the same story over and over again!
A great book for those looking to make a career out of their writing. This one is great for those who want to be traditionally publishing, self-published or hybrid. I particularly liked the section on publishing contracts
Very useful practical, no fluff, writing business advice. I’ve made notes and will follow through. Building an author business takes hard work, no way around that. This book gives you the simple strategies and tactics to buckle down and get it done.
