A truly wondrous work that depicts through portraits the Native American chiefs in the early 1800's. The author's sensitive drawings give a sense of each chief's character and personality, and show snapshots of daily life. Caitlin's devotion to his passionate desire to chronicle the Native Americans for the future generations was achieved. Every American should read this book. Can't wait to read the narrative volume.

I would borrow this book from the library over and over when I was a teenager. So when I saw it at DI I bought it! Now I own it and am very happy!

George Catlin painted my pictures of Native Americans before they were assimm\ilated into white American culture. The book contains replicas of mush of his work.
