Steven Kellogg is an author and illustrator who has contributed over 90 books for children. He is best known for writing books about animals, for which he credits his grandmother .
I really enjoyed this book.. When a young girl wants to paint with her blue paint, she notices it is missing and blames her friends. They wanted her to read to them but she decided she wanted to paint instead. She then accuses them all, but it turns out her dog ate the blue paint. She must say sorry to her friends for blaming them. This was a very nice book and sends a good message. It would be a fun book to read for fun, or in the classroom. You could read this to the class and ask them what they think happened to the paint.
All a girl wants to do is paint with her blue paint, but when the paint goes missing, she accuses the neighborhood kids who would have rather she read to them than ignore her and paint. When her dog, Homer, licks the kids and their faces turn blue she must suck it up and apologize.
I love Steven Kellogg's illustrations, but this book was a little too simplistic for my taste. It is told in first person, and I think it would be a good way to introduce this writing tense, but I am not a fan of the story line.
