Books can be attributed to "Anonymous" for several reasons:
* They are officially published under that name * They are traditional stories not attributed to a specific author * They are religious texts not generally attributed to a specific author
Books whose authorship is merely uncertain should be attributed to Unknown.
I try to read the Bible at least once a year (I am on target for a double read this year). I have completed the New Testament earlier. The Old Testament is filled with amazing truth, strange stories, historical references that I don't understand, powerful statements of prophecy, the revelation of God's sovereignty, the incredible faith of some, the incredible dullness of others, and the awesome plan of the Creator.
If you have never taken the time to read it, I would encourage the endeavor. My life reflects a New Testament ethos, but understanding the Old helps provide richness to the New.
The Old Testament is a collection of thirty-nine books and contains four main sections: the Pentateuch, the Former Prophets also known as the Historical Books, the Writings, and the Latter Prophets.
