Beginning with the events which led to the Battle of the Boyne in 1690 and closing with British Prime Minister Tony Blair's historic address to the Irish Parliament in 1998, this book presents an account of three centuries of conflict and change in Ireland.
A good intro to modern Irish history, but written in a pretty dry and dull way. Minimal primary source material which made it hard to get lost in the world of it all. Great chapters on the Troubles though.
Good as a very general overview, but little more than that. Quite decent if you want a very concise, authoritative overview of the war in Northern Ireland from its roots until just after the Good Friday Agreement.
