The Crimson Collection #1

The Crimson Hunters

Guardians of the Galaxy meets A Game of Thrones

Some mercenary groups are elite, unstoppable, demon-slaying heroes. The Crimson Hunters are not those type of mercenaries.

The world of Dellerin has fallen to The Dark One’s rule. Weavers have been hunted out of existence, and demonic attacks are on the rise. It’s a terrible time to be a mercenary outfit, and a worse time to be an incompetent mercenary outfit. The Crimson Hunters haven’t had a win in months, but this contract feels different. This contract will be the one to pull them from the gutter.

The omens are good, the gods are smiling, and the bounty is curiously substantial.

There’s an injured demon on the run, the trap has been set, and everything is falling into place.

The Crimson Hunters are about to get paid!

Right?

The Crimson Hunters is the first book in the bestselling Crimson Collection by Amazon #1 Best Selling Author Robert J Power. Perfect for fans of Nicholas Eames, if you like hapless heroes, unstoppable foes and dark humour, you'll love this adventurous novella.

Robert J Power is the fantasy author of the Amazon bestselling series, The Spark City Cycle and The Dellerin Tales. When not locked in a dark room with only the daunting laptop screen as a source of light, he fronts an Irish rock band despite their many attempts to fire him.

Robert lives in Wexford, Ireland with his wife Jan, 3 rescue dogs and a cat that detests his very existence. Before he found a career in writing, he enjoyed various occupations such as a terrible pizza chef, a video store manager (ask your grandparents), and an irresponsible camp counselor. Thankfully, none of them stuck.

If you wish to learn of Robert’s latest releases, his feelings on The Fallout Series, or just how many coffees he consumes a day before the palpitations kick in, visit his website at www.RobertJPower.com where you can join his group The Outcasts. You might even receive some free goodies, hopefully some writing updates, and probably a few nonsensical ramblings.

Very disappointing. Was hoping for the same quality as the Spark City Cycle.

I stumbled across Robert Powers' books by chance...just looking for new things to read. I have read all he has written and enjoyed them very much and The Crimson Hunters was no exception. I love the characters...there is humor and sarcasm and action from literally the beginning until the end. Read the book!!...and then go to his website and join his readers' club...I enjoy his email updates almost as much as his books!! 😁

The latest from my favourite nemesis, Robert J Power, this book is a compilation of two of his previous novellas (The Crimson Hunters and The Crimson Hunted) into one novel. I was into this book right from the first page. Power's writing is just so entertaining, self-deprecating, and funny. I love that the main characters are a bunch of hapless mercenaries (at least at the beginning) with very few redeeming features. There are a LOT of battle scenes in this one, so be warned, but I found them entertaining and well thought out.
If you like your writing clever, descriptive, and with plenty of amusing musings by the characters on the state of their lives/the battle/the gods, I highly recommend picking up this one. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ from me

Given an arc copy of this. The writing just gets better. This is exactly what you need if you need to disappear into a world that has endless possibilities. Just not long enough but obviously this is the strategy. In short want more , need more... please!!!

If you liked his previous book about the seven, you'll enjoy this one. This is set in the same world with a new group of characters. The characters are written well developed and the plot is very creative. For a short story I enjoyed it.

No. Multiple POV's that are confusing and lots of what apparently is internal dialogue....maybe?

I ended up skimming at about 50% until the end and still don't understand what the heck was going on.

A little convoluted initially. So far not as good as the Spark City series. It sorts itself our somewhat towards the end. Looking forward to the next book mostly because R.J. Power is a fantastic storyteller.

Not to bad of a read.

Not bad. Needs more of the telling . Like who is who an what they do an why. A little more description would help. Let's see where book #2 takes.

Power definitely wins the cookies with this read. Definitely glad I picked it up and you will be too! Epic characterization, and I can't wait for the next installment!

The Crimson Hunters is the first in the Dellerin Tales Series by Robert J Power. The story was fast paced and action packed from the beginning, introducing each character with a quirky and humorous dialogue. As the story unfolds, the complexity of the world and the layers of intrigue between the deities and the Crimson Hunters is revealed. A great read, and setting up the story for Book 2.

Really enjoyed this, can’t wait to read more of the adventures of the Crimson Hunters! Robert J Power has a great sense of humour and he wields it magnificently, had me laughing out loud at times. One of my new favourite authors of this genre.

If you enjoy a fantasy story in an epic world which doesn’t take itself too seriously, you’ll have fun reading about the Crimson Hunters, the story of a flawed group muddling along in a dangerous world. There’s the world building of a typical fantasy world, the serious-humour mix of something like Dresden Files and a cast of loveable rouges. Well worth delving into, highly recommended. Keep up the good work Robert!

I really enjoyed this book. It wasted no time getting into the thick of things, and managed to keep me entertained and page turning until the end. Robert J. Power does an amazing job getting us inside the characters' heads. We can feel and relate to the insanity and chaoticness of their thoughts. I love the humor, the sarcasm, of the book. For me definitely worth reading, it's not a waste of time.

I've enjoyed everything Mr. Power has written, but something about this group of hard-luck mercenaries I just really enjoy. Between the characters and waiting to see what fresh Hell fate will throw at them, I can't get enough.

Polished

I first read this as an offer on Kindle unlimited and it was the early version. I have since received a preview copy from Rob himself which is longer, more than than just going on for a few more chapters though there has been some re-work on the earlier chapters and the result is a cracking tale. I strongly recommend reading before this the 'The Seven: A lost tale of Dellerin' as it provides some very useful context (and is a damn fine tale as well).

I'm not going to give a synopsis or ramble on about the finer points of characters - its just a really really good tale and you should drop everything and read it (after you've read The Seven).

This is marked as The Crimson Collection volume 1. It looks to me like The Seven volume 2. It certainly follows on from The Seven. Where The Seven was dark black for all but the last page this book is not nearly so pessimistic. It is equally well written, just as exciting, as consistent in its logic and its world but, to me, that much easier to read because it is not all doom and gloom. In this book Mr Power is not intent on killing off all his central characters and, for me, that makes it a better book. I didn't have to keep putting it down to relax and so was able to enjoy it more
