I stumbled upon this author Sunanda J. Chatterjee just by chance and this was my sheer good luck to read her book
Sunanda writes so beautifully that her story touches the heart straight away and then keeps on weaving a cucoon of love till the book ends. There is so much comfort and joy in her book. I read this book during one of the turbulent times of my life and Sunanda's writing was like a soothing balm to the soul. Her writing left me with hope and gave me inner happiness to read a beautiful love story.
There is simplicity in Sunanda's writing and that is the beauty of the novel. Her main character is a strong woman Laura who manages both her career as a psychologist and her love life with police officer, Harrison. She is brave and faithful to her friends. There is romance, there is suspense, there are break-ups and make-ups but in the end true love wins. I like the fact that Laura does not give up on her career with whatever else happening in her personal life. A mark of a strong woman. Laura and Juhi's friendship is beautiful to read and cherish.
Writing a love story is easy but writing a love story with a backdrop of suspense, intrigue, without losing sight of plot is very difficult and Sunanda does it so effectively. Her words make effortless reading, her pace does not slacken and there is mystery galore.
All her characters are well developed, they all have their strengths and flaws and that is what makes the book real.

This author is fast becoming one of my absolute favourites. Not only is she incredibly prolific, she also writes in a variety of genres and each and every story of hers that I have read, in all the various genres, has stayed with me, long after the book has finished. This one too is no exception. I absolutely loved this book. I have had a hectic week - and the best way to get through it was via this book. I had it to look forward to every evening and it got me through the packed days. I love this author's wonderful, addictive, beautiful style of writing. Her characters become like friends and you cannot stop thinking about them. I was bereft when this book finished and wanted to start it all over again. I am so glad there are more books in the series yet to come and I absolutely cannot wait!

I am absolutely in love with Sunanda Chatterjee stories and she is hands down one of the most brilliant storytellers I've come across. She knows how to weave eloquently strong plots and effortlessly intricate across multiple genres leaving the readers spellbound and seamlessly pulls the readers in from the get go and this one is no different . Her plots and characters are always well developed and as a reader you get to truly understand what the characters are thinking or why they are acting or behaving in a certain way , even with the elements of suspense till the end of the story she never leaves any loopholes or lingering questions. I am awed by how smoothly all her stories are amalgamated by touch of romance, a good dose of suspense , specks of life lessons and pearls of wisdom. By the time readers are done with the story they are truly awestruck with how brilliant and exceptional storyteller Sunanda is . She is one of those talented storyteller who definitely knows how to get her readers fully invested with the story and the characters from the first page until it ends and this story was no different. The story and characters stay with you for a very long time even after the you are done reading the story. I was intrigued by the storyline and was curious to read how she would be building up the story. The story was fast paced and I got pulled in from the first page, the characters were very believable and like all her stories, Sunanda leaves the readers with so many loose ends and leaves readers on tenterhooks & on the edge but everything is tied together and falls in it's place by the time the story reaches its climax.
Both Harrison's and Laura's characters had the mystery aura surrounding their persona . From the way they meet each other, their hidden past & the secrets and how the story proceeds Sunanda has beautifully weaved the story. I loved all the supporting characters and they played an important part in the story , I just fell in love Juhi's character and how she was a pillar of strength & a true friend for Laura. The stark personality contrast between the two best friends is like chalk and cheese but their friendship & bond surpasses all these differences. Having read and enjoyed some other books by Sunanda Chatterjee like “The Blue House in Bishop”, I was excited about her new release. And I’ll admit that a hot police offer sounded pretty enticing too…
I wasn’t disappointed in the story, the—once again—authentic and well-fleshed out characters, and the glimpses of the setting. It was lovely to see that Laura had an Indian friend (I’m very interested in her story), and that Laura’s father turned out to be not what I had expected. Laura herself was intriguing and believable, with hidden strength and a tragic past. She fell for Harrison rather fast and hard, but the forbidden attraction never seemed over the top and was laced with enough back-and-forth to retain its spark. As for Harrison, he fascinated me too because he comes with a load of emotional baggage all wrapped up in irresistible hero material.
The author’s language is simple, the style matching a fast-paced romantic suspense novel set firmly in the here and now. But off and on, I stumbled upon a phrase that stood out in its stark beauty and supplied emotions that could otherwise have been lacking. Take this gem, for example: “Her heart felt like an unfinished symphony, the last resonant note ringing in her head in an endless loop, reminding her of her failures, her emptiness.”
The saga provides some suspense, just the right amount of backstory, and a struggle for a happy ending. Chatterjee tells a gripping, emotional tale of sin, retribution, and redemption that digs deep and raises important questions: How much of our parents is inside us? And can love facilitate forgiveness?

How often we come across incidents or people who carry the burden of punishment for the sins committed by their parents? Whether it is a petty mistake or a serious crime, society never allows the off-springs to forget that their parent/s did commit the mistake and they should pay for it.

A story with a beautiful plot, well developed characters, written in a simple language which keeps the reader glued to the story. There is romance and a lot of suspense. The author has described the feelings of both the protagonists. Even the secondary characters have a role to play in the story. The story has a family drama, romance and suspense. Though the story has a suspense element in it, the romance also moves in parallel. The story is fast paced and unputdownable. The bond between Juhi and Laura has been described beautifully.
Everytime I felt that the story was about to wrap up, a surprise or a twist would come up.
The language is beautiful, some lines that I really liked were, “You clear your whole calendar”; “Everyone is allowed five bad deeds”; “like an orchid, trust….”
A must read for all romance, suspense and even family drama fans.

I became a fan of Sunanda Chatterjee when I read her book “Fighting for Tara”, which is a super awesome book. So it was but natural for me to wonder how “Sins of the Father” would compare. And though “Fighting for Tara” will always remain one of my favourite books, this one did not disappoint.
None of her books are just romance. And this one with its suspense and psychological tinge makes for a very interesting read.
Society can be very unforgiving and often children are made to pay for the sins of their parents. But isn’t it also true that the children themselves feel the need to pay for their parents crimes? What happens when as a young child you are exposed to the fact that your father is not the hero you think he is? How do you react when his actions have caused you tremendous pain? A lot of times the children feel that in some way it is their fault as well. They carry the burden of what their parents did for a long time indeed.
Sunanda brings this out beautifully in the way the characters interact with each other in the book. I firmly believe that no book is based on just one person. Every good story is a blend of all the characters, the main ones and the supporting ones. Sunanda has managed to weave in all her characters into the fabric of her story and that is what makes it such a delight to read.

Harrison, a police officer, meets Laura, a psychologist, while investigating a suicide case..Both are mutually attracted towards each other..But they have dark secrets in their life which involves their childhood days..Their troubled past life becomes a deciding factor in their relationship..Whether they are able to overcome those hurdles and live happily makes this story interesting to read…
Author had described the pain experienced by both Laura and Harrison while growing up, due to mysterious past which involves their fathers..Laura’s friendship with Juhi is beautifully depicted by the Author..The importance of trust, love and forgiveness in relationships is explained well in this story..
Overall, I feel that this book is interesting and a light read!!!

I had read one of the previous works by the author and had loved the treatment of her stories. So I had to read this new release and let me tell you, this story did not disappoint me. In fact it took my appreciation for her work a notch higher.
Sunanda has a way of telling stories in which you can find so many elements mixed together in such a way that each element has its justifiable place.
This is the story of Laura and detective Harrison. It's a very sweet romance with a good dose of family drama and a thriller added to it.
I love the one liners that she uses in the narrative which so befit the story but also stay with you for much longer.
I would definitely recommend this read to all those who love well formed stories with multiple elements.

This is book one of the Wellington Estates Series but can be read as a standalone. The streets bring two people together. Police officer Harrison McNamara, the former Wellington Estates heir and Laura Carson, a psychologist and model. Sunanda has done a beautiful job with this book. It's so well written and the characters are amazing. I felt like I was right there with them. The book had a lot of substance, was fast paced and full of surprises. Danger, murder, suspense and ghosts of the past keep you page turning. A great read. I received an advance copy and voluntarily chose to review this book.

Sins of father haunting once life is as painful as it can get. From love to pain and from pain back to love is a journey the author weaves in this book.
As always Sunanda Chatterjee takes you through unexpected twists and turns before you get to have the happy ending. The story builds up the emotions and anxiety. The troubles and pain the characters go through are brought out so well with its pulsating build up, and the beautiful culmination of the journey is so fit for the story.
The love between the protagonists is so smooth and soft, it left a mark on my heart. A delightful read! A great blend of suspense, drama, and romance.

What an intriguing story this was. Mystery, suspense, danger, revenge, betrayal, hope and love all rolled into one book. What more could we ask for. Sunanda has created realistic characters with minds of their own but with the need to find someone to share their life with. I enjoyed this story and would recommend it to those who like a twist to their books. Well done Sunanda.

Sins of the Father is a good read. I can say that the story is well thought and well written. The characters are well-developed but I had a hard time connecting with the female characters. The romance is the right amount and the suspense is also there. The plot is relatively fast-paced and it is easy to read.
