The truth is that success comes to successful people because they've learned how to harness the power found in the Nine Laws of Networking. Durning the past 16 years, Bryan Thayer has had the good fortune of rubbing shoulders with some of the most successful networkers you can imagine. this one was a pretty quick read only a few hours, though Its packed with great stories and information. I learned that what you give out into the world is what you get back, its not about what you do but who you know. i would recommend this book. its great!

This booklet is not motivational. It is not what you expect. It is not about internet and social media. This can be said about it - it is inspirational and very practical in how to develop and enhance your networking skills, with a good and pure attitude one can network with people for their and your benefit. It is easy to read, very good examples and with some very "home" common sense advice...though followed through proved of great help to the author and many with whom he networked. I will read it again and I will change some of my business practice to also use networking more efficiently.

A strong contribution from Brian Thayer. He pulls from a lot of different and usually famous self-help and business success sources, so the ideas aren't usually original. But since he reads it so well and the message is efficient and down-to-earth, it's encouraging. The main thesis is that going out of your way towards others with kindness and openness often leads to new possibilities, especially if they don't happen right away. I could have done without the pseudo chuckles and the announcer saying that we were about to listen to "a great book" at the start of this CD version, but I like Thayer's variety of speaking styles, stories and occasional bluntness. Overall it's not too rah rah. Take from it what you can.

One of the many more specific ideas is to have a short, creative way to explain your business that elicits a simple response:
"I make people happy to snack all day."
"You what?"
"You know how nobody sends real snail-mail cards anymore?"
"Yeah, it's all email."
"My business is sending out real greeting cards that you can add pictures and even your own handwriting. The kind that people want to put up on their fridge and see every time they get something to eat."

If the person wants to know more, so be it.

Whether anyone's interested in what you have to offer, make yourself of service to others, however you want to do it in each individual moment. You never know who will remember and contact you down the line. If you like yourself and what you have to offer, surprising things can happen and have happened.

This is an excellent, quick and easy read for people who are reluctant and/or clueless about networking. Thayer provides a few simple ideas you can immediately try out, and keeps your interest with some interesting stories to illustrate how his ideas would work. Highly recommended.
