4☆ A Fun, Uplifting Magical Football Adventure!

Izzy’s Magical Football Adventure is a wonderfully magical Football adventure.

Izzy dreams of playing Gaelic football for her County Women's Team.
She plays with her three brothers every day.
But gets frustrated and angry that they don't take her seriously and she is annoyed that if she can't beat her brothers, she will never make it playing for her County.

After another mess about with her brothers and losing again, she gets angry and stomps off to her room.

It's here she finds her Great Grandmother's special bracelet. It's very special because it contains 3 medals her Grandmother won playing for her County, just like Izzy wants to do. She is her inspiration!

So when Izzy starts to rub her bracelet to try and read what's on the bracelet, something magical happens and all Izzy's dreams come true!

Izzy’s Magical Football Adventure gives such a Positive and Strong message to never give up on your dreams.
It teaches that you need to firstly have fun, work hard and a little perseverance and dedication pays off.
Oh and also it's OK for Girls and Women to play all sport.
Times are changing, look at the Women's Football World Cup...that was AMAZING!!

When I first read Izzy’s Magical Football Adventure, I was very very intrigued to know what Gaelic football was, and how you play it.
As in the book Izzy mentions Hopping the ball.
So I had to look it up. I not only looked on the women's Gaelic football site I also googled, and it's a lil bit like rugby.
You can carry the ball no more than 4 steps then you have to Hop the ball of the end of your foot. It's fascinating and I'm definitely going to look up more about it!
So a big thank you to Emma for opening my eyes to a new sport!

My only niggle with this book is that some of the technical terms are not explained.
As above I mentioned hopping.
Younger readers wouldn't know what this meant, I certainly didn't. Admittedly it made me research it which teaches children how to look things up and research.
But for me I lost a lil bit of the sparkle that surrounds the game as i didn't understand how to play it.

However it is beautifully Illustrated, has a Uplifting, heart warming and joyous plot.
Izzy is a strong, dedicated and passionate young girl whose personality and love for her sport shone through.

Izzy’s Magical Football Adventure is definitely a book that would appeal to all young readers.
So if like me this book thoroughly Intrigues you, then I highly recommend reading it.

Thank you to Rachel Random Resources for this copy which I reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

I received this book from the publisher/blog tour host in exchange of an honest review.

When I received the invitation to review this one and participate in the blog tour I just had to sign up. A book about a magical football adventure? That sounds fun. Plus the art reminded me of Becka Moor (a huge compliment to the illustrator).

I am not a pro on football, in fact I keep confusing it to soccer. 😛 Still I understand the basics of the game, though I have never heard of Gaelic Football. I have to say I find it weird to see people holding a ball and running with it, then kicking it. I guess maybe if it was a more popular sport in my country I wouldn’t have thought it weird, but the biggest ball games we have here would be soccer or hockey. And both aren’t allowing people to hold the ball like that.

I felt sorry for Izzy, she is trying so hard and her brothers are being quite mean towards her. And when her mom just send her to her room for shouting once… I felt even more sorry for her. Wow, mom is overly strict.

I loved it when the magical element came up and Izzy was teleported to a very special game! Oh my! And then the fun really started. I loved the game/match and seeing Izzy be totally and utterly amazing (and she already was that, but she levelled up). I wonder if this was a vision for later or if it was just because of her very deep wish. I would have loved to see an epilogue and see if it all came true. At least it was a big motivation for her to keep on fighting, to keep on practising.

All in all, a magical and fun book that will sure delight kids (and adults as well). If you like sports, if you like magic, if you like a girl being kick-ass? Be sure to try out this book. It got my seal of approval!

Izzy lives in the countryside and spends a lot of time playing Gaelic football with her three brothers Patrick, David and Robert.

This is a story of following your dreams. It shows that no matter who you are you can achieve what you really want.

This is a lovely story of Izzy and her magical adventure. I really liked this story. Gives a little insight into Gaelic football.

I loved this story. I’ll be reading it with my grandson and showing him what Gaelic football is.
Great read.

If you ever dream a dream, dream big and stay focused. Determination and willingness to give it your all will do the rest. The book showed all this with a simple, delightful story.

Izzy played football with brothers. On losing a game, she pulled a tantrum and was sent to her room. A bracelet from her grandmother magically transported her to her dreams.

Emma Larkin has written a fantastic picture book which was fun and easy to read. It told me to believe in myself and work hard to achieve my dreams.

At 36 pages, it was a short read but gave me a lesson for life, apt for all ages. Izzy was cute, she loved to win. But she understood her dream as it occurred. The artwork was bright and colorful and quite captivating. And I think this book could be read out to all kids above age 5. A fun read.

Emma Larkin has written a wonderful children’s story about hardwork and determination. It’s a short book with a big life lesson and everyone can learn from this.

I love the magical plot. Izzy was a great main character who loved to win. I think we could all learn from Izzy’s adventure!

I definitely recommend this children’s book. As I said, I think adults can learn the life lessons this book has just as much as children. A cute, 5 star read!

I received a free copy of this book from the author via Rachel's Random Resources in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own.

11 year-old Izzy loves football. What she doesn't love is how she keeps losing football games to her older brother. Izzy is really angry and wondering what the point is of even playing football is when suddenly she sees her great grandmother's bracelet. Suddenly Izzy transported to a different place that is wilder than she can ever imagine.

The pictures were nice and vivid. I thought they matched well with the story.

This fun little story is about not giving up. Izzy is mad after losing the football game, but after being transported to another time she sees what can happen if she works towards her dreams instead of giving up. Following your dreams no matter how hard it can be is a wonderful lesson that is great for any age.

The book will seem so familiar in situation to children. It deals with sibling-rivalry as well as Izzy and her 3 brothers playing football together. Izzy is however downcast as she doesn’t see how her dream of playing for the county ladies football team can ever become a reality. I like that she does find some inspiration and realised a female relation of hers won 3 times. The story then takes an imaginative turn as Izzy starts to realise her dream of playing in the ladies football team could become a reality when she was older. There’s still the child-tantrums, but this is handled well as apologies are said and there is some inspiration to be garnered by children reading this story.
It’s fun and full of possibility and hope and positivity, without losing natural child behaviours.
I recommend it for children of 5-8 years as this seemed to be the age that enjoyed it.

This is a book to inspire both boys and girls alike to realise their dreams or to give football ago. When reading the book, the same positivity can be put into any child and their desires.

A lovely family story, about believing in yourself and your dreams, and practice makes perfect.

Izzy regularly plays Gaelic football with her three brothers, and despite trying hard, is often on the losing side, which is frustrating and makes her unpopular with her teammate brother. Banished to her room, when she has a tantrum, she finds her grandmother's bracelet, and then with a little magic, she sees what the future could be.

The characters are relatable, the adventure full of magic and motivation, and the illustrations follow the action beautifully. The introduction to Gaelic football is interesting, for those who are not familiar with it, and the story is pitched appropriately for the intended age group.

I read the electronic version of this, but the illustrations are clear and still enjoyable.

I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.
