A nice glossy coffee table volume. . . . The book covers Rome from its role in "the ancient world," starting with the tale of Romulus and Remus, the kings who ruled from roughly 700 BC on, the development of Roman republican government, the struggle with Carthage, Caesar, Augustus, the Empitre, and so on. . . . Not a lot of detail here, but this is a nice work.
