Bear shifter Nathan loves his life. He has good friends, a job he loves, and lots of naps. He might be a little lonely sometimes, especially when he sees the deep love between a newly mated pair of friends, but his choices are limited in Glen Wood, at least until sweet wolf shifter Halian shows up.
Halian has been sent by his pack to find another shifter, one he thinks he might be a little in love with. When he finds out his friend has mated with another wolf, he’s wrecked, but that only lasts long enough for big bear Nathan to… sniff him. They fall for each other quickly, but no one is sure a wolf and bear can be mates, especially Nathan and Halian.
Texan to the bone and an unrepentant Daddy's Girl, BA Tortuga spends her days with her hounds and her beloved wife, texting her grandbabies, and eating Mexican food. When she's not doing that, she's writing. She spends her days off watching rodeo, knitting, and surfing Pinterest in the name of research. Following their own personal joys, BA and Julia heard the call of the high desert and they now live in the New Mexico mountains. BA's personal saviors include her wife, her best friends, and coffee. Lots of coffee. Really good coffee.
Having written everything from fist-fighting rednecks to cowboy daddies to werewolves, BA does her damnedest to tell the stories of her heart, which is committed to giving everyone their happily ever after. With books ranging from hard-hitting BDSM, to fiery passions, to the most traditional of love stories, BA refuses to be pigeon-holed by anyone but the voices in her head.
this was adorable and sweet... oh man.. these 2 are so cute.. seperate and together they were just adorable. i loved their chemistry and their love.. their bantar was fun and i loved the plot. such an adorable story
This was such a sweet, poignant, grab-you-by-the-feels, engaging, endearing, charmingly sexy, and delightful story. Both Nathan and Halian stole my heart from the very beginning, and their HEA ending left me sighing with happiness.
Halian has always had a hero crush on Maicoh. So when his pack decides to send someone to bring Mai back to mate and breed a she-wolf Hali volunteers to go. Upon arriving Halian is heartbroken to discover Maicoh has mated with his true mate, Ashkii.
Nathan immediately feels the fated mate bond and is determined to give Halian all the time and gentleness he needs to become Nathan's and stay in Glen Wood forever.
Halian is sweet and adorable. He's shy and skittish too as he was treated badly by his previous pack like Ashkii was. Nathan, as always, is sweet, strong, and protective of everyone.
I enjoyed this book, but liked the first one better.
i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the second book in the Spirit Quest series. In this book, Nathan is a bear shifter and good friends with Maicoh and Ash from book one. Nathan would like to find his mate, but he knows there are not a lot of options in Glen Wood. When a new wolf shifter named Halian shows up, Nathan is drawn to him. Halian was sent to find Maicoh and convince him to move back to the pack. Hailan also has a bit of a crush on Maicoh, but he knows Maicoh is mated with Ash. When Nathan meets Hailan, he is very attracted to him and wants him. Nathan offers Hailan a place to stay and Nathan wants to take care of him. Hailan is grateful to Nathan and the more time they spend together, the closer they grow. Soon Nathan wants Hailan as his mate, but they are a bear and a wolf and no one knows if they can be mates. Also the wolves are still trying to find a way to get Maicoh back. I love this series. I really love Nathan, he is so happy and cuddly. I love how he wanted to take care fo Hailan and how he loved him right away. Hailan loved Nathan and wanted to protect him in any way he could. Great series.
The thing I love about this series, is there is no outlandish drama of a war like pretty much all shifter books seem to revolve around. This is just a normal (well shifter normal) everyday relationship drama, boy meets boy, boy mates boy, little hiccups here and there, they live happily ever after. Sometimes simple is enough....
All the mysticism from the first book is here in this one and it's appreciated because it feels unique. I also enjoyed how sweet Nathan is to Halian. Seeing Halian blossom under the love and care of his bear was really nice. While I enjoyed those things quite a lot, I have to admit that the writing felt so juvenile and the dialogue was like listening to Dug from the movie Up!. Short sentences consisting of one, two, or three words time and time again is not compelling nor does it convey who these men really are or add depth.
The conflict felt forced, rushed, and Halian never really came into his own. There is a lot of individual growth that needed to happen. The happiness came, but the inner strength part needed more attention. All of which is a shame because BA Tortuga's Cats and Dogs series is my absolute favorite. It's well-written, complex, moving, sexy, and vastly interesting. This series is like the bare-bones, rough draft of the rough draft compared to Cats and Dogs.
So even though it didn't feel anything close to the quality the author can typically write, the positive points remain the endearing sweetness of Nathan and Halian together and the interesting take on the spiritual aspects of the world that was created. And even though it seems I'm less than impressed with this story, I'll be back to read Liam and Kell's story. The characters are interesting and I always hope they live up to their potential.
I am completely enamored with this series. We met Nathan and Halian in the previous book in the series. Halian was a part of Ash and Mai's old pack. He was sent to retrieve Mai, but wonders if maybe this special place could be home for him. Nathan is great big grizzly bear who cares deeply about his friends and family. When he meets Halian, he immediately feels a connection to him. He has his work cut out for him, though. All his life, Halian has been mistreated and made to feel he was worthless other than as an omega. Nathan, for his part fears he might be too big and gentle for Halian. When they discover they've bonded, there's an almost disastrous incident. They have to spend time securing their fragile bond. One of their friends, Liam has a big mouth and is insensitive. Halian fears he'll never be good enough or worthy of Nathan's love so he runs, and it almost has tragic consequences. Liam's guilt is overwhelming, so he brings Halian back and leaves. Nathan realizes he'll have to help Halian see himself in a better light. I can't wait to continue this series and learn more about Liam.
This is the 2nd book in the Spirit Quest series. We get to see more of our shy and quiet wolf Halian. When Nathan meets his mate the one not been looking for. You can see the journey full with patience that he has to protect and draw his mate out of his shell. The characters are mix and they keep in hoping they all find their happy ending. cant wait to see what happen next highly recommend this book if you love shifters
Engaging and sweet story of finding your mate when you least expect. A big sweet bear and a young abused wolf find love and forever in this story. I enjoyed the characters and it was wonderful to see Nathan whom we got to know well in book one find his special love.
Nathan and Halian are just delightful together and reading Nathan self-talk about being patent was just too sweet. These guys communicated really well and found their way to happiness in a really gentle and fun journey. In this book we get a little more world-building and i am still wanting more so i understand this special River. Want more of all the delightful shifters that live in this little town.
This is book two of the Spirit Quest series and i am hooked on finding out what happened to our grumpy kitty. I strongly recommend reading book one because it does give you some really important world-building.
I was gifted this book from the LesCourt Author Services and i freely give my honest opinion and review.
A very cute shifter novella & the second book in the series “Spirit Guide” the continuation from the first novella into this one is smooth & flawless & can be read as a standalone. The story-line & plot is entertaining with interesting characters that are quite intriguing with their opposing personalities. There is: a alpha bear shifter (Nathan) content with his life but is a little lonely at times until a innocent omega wolf shifter (Halian) shows up & the attractions flare, various kinds of shifters, friendship, mild twists, some drama, humor, attractions, insecurities, longings, determination, protectiveness, mates, bonding, warnings, misunderstanding, decisions, heartache, trust, contentment, happiness & a wonderful conclusion. I look forward to the next book with great anticipation.
Whenever I need a pick me up, I always turn to B.A. Tortuga. She has the right amount of sweetness, light hearted ness that makes her books a joy to read. This second book in the Spirit Quest book is just as faithful to her style as before. But you should probably read the first book as the Ash and Mai are a good part of Nathan and Halian’s story. Halian comes from the same pack as Maicoh and is loved on by Nathan straight away. The relationship building is sweet and adorable as always with the rough stuff coming near the end. B.A does tug on your heart strings in a good way. So if you like sweet side with a dash of heat and a smidge of worry, definitely try this one out. You’ll be a happy bear. :)
Both Nathan and Halian are so sweet. Nathan is a lovable, gentle, and patient bear. Halian is a sweet, little insecure wolf with an abused past.
There was light drama that made me sad for a short moment. Halian was only trying to do what he thought was best, but it hurt them both in the end. Thankfully, it all works out though. Nathan is just what Halian needs in a mate.
I was glad to see Nathan find his mate, but now I really want to know about Kell and Liam.
OMG I love this series. This is book 2 in the Spirit Quest Series by B.A. and it is just lovely. Nathan and Halian shine in their love for each other and their friends. It is such a sweet, loving story about a quaint little town that all those who are lost find when they truly need it. Halian finds that he wants to stay in this town and be safe and in love with his Nathan. This is truly one AWESOME story and series.
This is a cute, sweet, funny and delightful story with wonderful characters and it is an excellent addition to the Spirit Quest series. I love Nathan and how amazing he is with Halian. They are perfect for each other and Halian is a sweetheart who is finally able to be free and happy. They have an incredible connection and smoking hot chemistry. The secondary characters are great and I look forward to reading Kell & Liam's story.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
This was a sweet read Nathan was my favourite character from the first book and it was so good that he found his happy ever after with Haitian. Haitian comes out of his shell over the course of the book and he realises that he is worth something and to Nathan he is everything.
I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read the next book that comes in the series, bringing mates to this merry band of shifters.
This is the second book in The Spirit Quest Series. I would read book one first. A wonderful book with good writing. The plot was entertaining and it was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters likeable. The characters were developed and thought out. Nathan is a n Alpha bear and Halian is an Omega wolf are the MC’s of this book and mates. I can recommend this book as a good read. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.
At the end of book 1 Halian is sent by the pack to find Maicoh. They decide to keep him so he doesn't have to be abused and bear-shifter Nathan realizes he's his mate but they dont know what happens if 2 different shifters mate. There is some minor drama which leads to book 3 but I just loved Nathan. He is a caretaker through and through and his house is always open to his friends and he loves to cuddle.
*I voluntarily read this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one else's*
3.5 stars
Nathan made me laugh in the beginning when he was getting right in there and sniffing Halian.
Halian was skittish and wary which wasn’t surprising. Nathan was sweet, caring, loving and most importantly patient. These two were so cute together and complemented each other beautifully.
Chasing the Moon is the second book in the Spirit Quest series by BA Tortuga. This is a sweet little story about a if bear shifter and an adorable wolf shifter finding love. Halian and Nathan are fun characters and their love story entertains with sweetness, heat, and little drama.
I received an advanced reader's copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.
This was definitely so sweet. I felt for Halian, and then comes a great big sweet bear shifter that's perfect for him. This was a perfect book 2. It was so well written and I loved it more than the previous one. The characters were phenomenal...how can you not love that bear lol.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
I fell for Nathan in the first book, and when he scented Halian I was so tickled. Sweet, strong, happy and fierce protector, he is perfect for scared little Halian. The premise of the veil is really interesting, and gives a twist to the story. I’m looking forward to Liam and Kell’s book.
I enjoyed this light and fluffy shifter, fated mates tale. This book is full of sweet characters, insecurities, a little drama, a patient bear, a wounded wolf, and cozy romance. Very sweet, and ends with an intriguing set up for the next book.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.
Loved it! I admit to not reading the first book in the series; Crossing the River but I’m definitely going to do that! Chasing the moon is sweet. I’m glad Halian found a home in Nathan. Now I’m ready for Liam and Kell’s Story. Please make it soon!
A wonderful story of losing one dream only to learn that the true dream is about to come true. I loved how Ba Tortuga made Nathan and Halian became mates and how they both grew with understanding of each other.
Another great shifter story! Nathan & Hali are so cute together. The way their relationship blossoms is wonderful to read. Once I started I could not stop! You will love this book. I can’t wait for the next book!
This is such a sweet, adorable love story. Who could resist Nathan and his naps? I loved the chemistry and connection between Nathan and Halian. These two were so cute together and complemented each other perfectly. I loved seeing them get their HEA!
