These essays/articles were written in the 40s and 50s, but change the names and it feels eerily as if you were reading about today's events. Politicians, power groups and business people are just as venal, corrupt and nasty as they were then. Maybe even a bit more stupid! it reminds me of the lawyer joke, except it should be changed just a bit, " What do you call 200 republican politicians and followers at the bottom of the ocean? "A good start!"
