Close to perfection for a quick well written short western. Marshal Morgan Gaunt is the only law in Cottonwood, a cattle town that seen hundreds of cowboys every year during the cattle drives ending in the town's pens every year. Every year had its problems but this year the town passed a gun ban that Gaunt will have to enforce. There were also men in town that wanted him dead, and a trail boss from last year that swore to kill him anyway he could.

Highly recommended, I've read a lot of Patten's works and I don't think he wrote a bad book, this is towards the top. Just a simple story but with plenty of action and done with great skill.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; you can’t go wrong with a Double D western. Especially one written by Lewis B. Patten.
