5 FORBIDDEN CROWNS

I absolutely love Grayson and River. These two are more than just a lust filled forbidden nature, there is a real, authentic relationship that exemplifies everything we love in a good romance.

Grayson is the stoic and often abrasive hero. As the story progresses readers understand the motivation behind closing himself off to others. River is the younger, free spirited heroine who has her own insecurities. These two, however are kismet, and I love who they become together.

What makes me love this story and this couple so much is that readers get a real, authentic love. It never ever is simply about lust for them. The plot is fantastically paced and lends to the real-ness behind their relationship. Everything from the plot to he resolution is perfect, and I’m so very excited for the next brother.

The narrators were also fantastic. I love listening to Grayson and his dirty talk, the declarations of love, and River’s narrator was great as well. I always enjoy Ava’s audiobooks.

This standalone is without a doubt a must read. Steamy, romantic, and heartwarming, I loved every single word.

She was an itch I needed to scratch, an addiction I needed to kick, but I needed a few more fixes before I gave her up.

The second I read the blurb to Entice, I knew this would be my first Ava Harrison book. I'm a sucker for a forbidden romance, and it just doesn't get more forbidden than your father's best friend.

An age-gap romance is not always an easy one to pull off, but Ava Harrison handled this effortlessly. With fifteen years between them, there's something about the connection that River and Gray share that just makes sense. Even though River is only twenty-one, she's definitely mature beyond her years. Having the childhood that she had with a flighty hippy mother and a teenage father that she didn't know until she was over 12 years old guaranteed that. River struggles with plenty of abandonment issues, but she's not some spoiled brat, even though she had all the luxuries when she came to live with her father.

Gray is her father's best friend. Even though they had a falling out years ago, Gray and Tyler are attempting to build their friendship back. Gray is assisting Tyler with a business deal that can make or break Tyler's life. This added element adds an additional deliciously forbidden layer to River and Gray's connection.

This is a slow burn since Gray spends a good chunk of the story fighting his attraction to River but ultimately not being strong enough to resist the pull between them. I loved his brooding intensity, even though he had plenty of moments that I wanted to shake him for his stubbornness and cold and hot demeanor.

I really enjoyed the story, though I did feel for how slow and somewhat dragged out the relationship development was, the ending felt a bit rushed and glossed over. I would have loved for the family dynamic and some other things at the end to be further fleshed out. But as it was, it still made for one enticing read. Ha!

4.5 stars for River and Grayson 💞!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This is the first book I've read by Ava Harrison and I will just say that I like it.

I love to read age-gap romance but only if that age-gap is not too big.

So, I was a little afraid that I will not like this story because this is a forbidden story between twenty-one years old girl and her father's best friend.

But, age-gap between wasn't that big how I was expected.

"Entice" is slow-burn romance in which River is the one who has a crush on her father's best friend.

From the other side, at beginning of the story, Grayson is the one who tries to stay away from River because he knows she is too young for him and she is also more forbidden because she is the daughter of his best friend.

In the end, love is the one who won the game and no matter how strong they fought against their feelings, after all, they fell in love.

If you're looking for the forbidden and age-gap romance story, this is the one you should read!

Forbidden lovers like myself will have no choice but to gravitate toward this book because of the synopsis. It’s a well known fact that we always want something we can’t have and the allure of walking a dangerous line for something that could be the most incredible thing but have the ability to complicate lives, is what keeps us so intrigued and secretly wanting more.

At twelve years old, River Reed knew that there was something special about her father's best friend Grayson. It’s been nine years since she’s seen him face to face and after one hell of an encounter, these two are now back in each other's lives. With temptation now at the forefront, will River and Grayson give in?

I really liked that this was more than a Forbidden romance story and that we learned a few things about the characters families. I would’ve liked for the author to delve into that a bit more because I felt like a lot of things were wrapped up too quickly and the main storyline itself dragged a bit. I also didn’t feel that passionate chemistry between the two characters. I wanted to believe in them as a couple and I just didn’t feel it and I was disappointed with that.

Even though I didn’t fully connect with these characters and I had a few issues, I still think that this story is worth giving a try if you could overlook a few things. What didn’t work for me, might work for someone else.

age gap, father’s friend, forbidden, a little enemies to lovers, push and pull, fwb, grumpy and semi reclusive H who is NOT a man ho, likeable h who has abandonment issues and cares deeply, semi slow burn in the first half, LOTS of sexual tension and cute and sweet moments...

what’s not to love?

BUT...

last half was just meh for me. they were so cute and sweet but too much fade to black scenes and time jumps for me and not a lot happening so i ended up skimming it.

WOW.....another great book by Ava Harrison! The most interesting thing about all her books is she know how to write the angsty characters much better and her stories are always captivating, steamy and HOT. So, as usual, this book did not disappoint me at all.

Entice was a straight-forward, a bit taboo, contemporary romance. The main character is River, who has a crush on her father's friend Grayson, who is 15 years older than her. She first met him when she was 12, but then her father and Grayson had a falling out, so it has been years since she last saw him. When River hears that her father is meeting Grayson after all these years, she can't resist and tags along. Grayson feels a strong attraction towards her, however, he doesn't remember her at first. After the realization that River is his old friend's daughter, he does whatever is in his power to keep her at a distance. River wants him now more than ever, but will keep her dignity when dealing with him. Grayson tries to stay away but the more he gets the know her the stronger his feelings get for her.

This book was a nice contemporary romance without too much drama. River has her insecurities and so does Grayson, but I think they were a good match. Even though River is only 20, I think she acted pretty mature most of the time. She could keep up with Grayson, and loosened him up, which he definitely needed. He came across as broody, cold, and too serious. I enjoyed reading about Grayson's relationship with his siblings, and I am intrigued to know more about his younger brother Jaxson. I was happy that the book wasn't just straight up sex, and that the author took the time for the characters to grow as individuals and as a couple.

5 Star Review Entice by Ava Harrison

Entice is an extremely well written story that blew me away. It was a wonderful book to read and Ava Harrison held me captive from the first to the last page as she wove her story.

Grayson Price, just the name sends shivers up and down my spine; a man struggling to come to terms with numerous changes in his life and River Reed, the young woman who has been in love with him for years. Both Gray and River have issues that have impacted their lives and it was interesting to watch how they both navigated through them.

Entice was an emotional roller coaster of a read, that drew me in and refused to let me go. The chemistry and intensity that smoulders between them was scorchingly hot. The love, the humour, the courage and emotions all worked together to bring you a story that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

I loved how River brought out a softer side to Gray, he intrigued me from the start and I fell for him hook ,line and sinker. It was great to watch River grow throughout the story and she became so much stronger than even she thought she could be.

Will their 15 year age gap be too much to overcome, particularly since Grey is best friends with River’s father? Or will they be able to forge a path together? This is a story of hope, determination, love and change.

Although it was a long and rocky path to happiness, I am certainly glad that Gray and River finally got there in the end.

“We both know that it's not fashionable to love me
But you don't go because, truly, there's nobody for you but me.”

Honeymoon – Lana Del Rey

What’s this book about? (I'm trying to give as little spoilers as possible)
Eight years ago, River fell in love with Grayson Price. She thought she’d never see him again, but when she does, she’s twenty and he’s thirty-six. And he’s also back to being her dad’s best friend.

“Maybe the way that I’m living is killing me.”
F*ck it I love you – Lana Del Rey

This is my first Ava Harrison read. I will definitely read more stories by this author. I finished the novel in one sitting. Usually, I go to sleep right after I finish my daily book, but after this one, I needed a couple of hours to process. The first pages drew me in. There was something lively and sunny about Grayson’s introductory chapter although he’s such a control-freak and mean-ish guy. His relationship with his family was adorable. I’m definitely checking out the other siblings’ books! He’s the type of rich dude that doesn’t necessarily boast his wealth. I mean, yeah, he did some rich people things, but they were just the cherry on top of the cake. He’s a gorgeous leading man, inside and out, and that’s a fact.
River is the type of leading girl that I relate to a lot. She felt like a real girl of her age to me. Her insecurities and her flaws were accurate AF. I needed some time to deal with this book inertly because she went through some tough emotional situations. The things she went through were heartbreaking. I loved her development. The novel was driven by her emotional journey. I felt so much empathy for her. I ended up cheering so hard for her whenever she SNAPPED! Her back and forth with Grayson was incredible. I love her with Grayson. Their chemistry is hot. They broke my heart multiple times in this novel and I’m just the reader. I almost cried and this isn’t the type of book I would normally cry for like WTF!
I recommend this read to lovers of steamy age gap romance with essence to it, strong and overcoming leading girls, and an adorable and tortured leading man.

River’s carefree childhood, living with her mother, is completely uprooted when she is delivered to her father’s doorstep one night, at 12 years old. Why would her mother think that living with him would be good for her? The only good thing that happened that night was meeting Grayson Price, he sat with her on the beach and gave her the chance to be alone but not feel alone.

Eight years later River is now a 20 year old woman, on the cusp of turning 21. She has grown very close to her father and his wife. Her mother and her have an intermittent relationship, usually catching up on annual holidays at a different country each time, she loves those holidays where they go exploring new places.

River is spending the summer with her father and after arranging to meet him at a bar one night, she is surprised to find Grayson waiting there too. It becomes obvious he doesn’t recognise her when he blatantly checks her out and flirts with her. That crush she had as a 12 year old that was put on the back burner has now returned but in a more adult focused way. He has gotten even more handsome with age.

Grayson is very attracted to the beautiful woman at the bar but it vanishes abruptly when her father appears and he realises his mistake. How could he have been so silly not to recognise River and what the hell is he going to do about the attraction he feels towards her? River is not going to make this easy for him, in fact she almost takes pleasure in seeing him uncomfortable.

‘There is something about her that drives me mad. She is almost fully ripe, but not quite. Dancing on the fringe of fully blossomed. It’s like watching a rose opening its petals one by one in slow motion.’

Over the course of summer they cross paths many times and River makes sure Grayson sees her at her best. He is finding it hard to resist the tempting moments between them and once he figures out that he has strong feelings for River he eventually gives into the lust between them. River knows he shouldn’t be starting anything with his best friend’s daughter and the 15 year age gap bothers him more than it does her.

‘How it would be so easy to have her, to just taste the forbidden fruit one time. But as much as I want to take a bite, I know I can’t. I know I shouldn’t. But lord do I want to.’

River cannot believe that the man she has always wanted finally sees her the way she sees him. It is everything she hoped it would be and they cannot get enough of each other. Hiding it from her father is weighing on her mind and she would rather be open about what they are doing than being a dirty little secret. Can she make Grayson see that this does not have to be something with a time limit? What they have is real and she does not want to stop once summer ends.

This was a fun, forbidden romance. Not too much angst, a light weekend read.

I’ve read just about all of Ava Harrison’s books and loved all of them thus far.

River and Grayson are no exception. While this book was a bit taboo, and River had some insecurities, it was enough to keep you hooked, not a lot of drama, a little bit of angst, with a whole lot of love from Grayson.

I’m anxious to know if Jaxson has a story. With that being said I’ll wait patiently for the next book.

„Don’t be afraid of the unknown. Don’t look up and realize the years have passed, and you have missed it. Live life now. Love now.”

Entice is a perfect title for this story, because it’s extremely seductive and alluring. This taboo romance will melt your heart and make you swoon! I love age gap and forbidden note in romances and with such a male specimen like Grayson Price I feel like I’ve won a lottery. Older, level-headed, smart, successful and sexy as sin, he’s a walking fantasy. You won’t be able to resist him!

River was only 12 years old when she met Grayson. He showed up in the exact moment she needed someone to save her and took a piece of her heart. She was enamoured with her father’s best friend and this infatuation stayed with her for good. Now, years later, he’s back in her life. She’s not a little girl anymore and she wants Grayson to see that too. But even if he’ll get over the age difference, how she’ll convince him that it’s fine to get involved romantically with his friend’s daughter? Is it even worthwhile, when she carries a baggage that’s holding her back from believing in happy ending?

This story captured my attention from the first sentence and I couldn’t stop reading even for a second! I could feel the struggle both characters were going through. First it were obvious reasons- big age gap and friendship between Grayson and River’s dad, but ultimately the biggest obstacle was their doubts and convictions. I loved River’s determination to crack Grayson’s cold and composed exterior. Maybe sometimes her moves weren’t very mature, but I could understand her drive to seduce that man. She knew that whatever comes out from their affair wouldn’t last, but the urge to have Grayson was too high. And Grayson… le sigh! He tried his best to fight his attraction for River, but he was screwed from the get-go. He didn’t expect how River would affect him. Palpable and sizzling chemistry certainly didn’t help. Nor did fierce and fiery passion.

Entice is pure sexiness. River and Grayson’s romance, although forbidden, is endearing and riveting. Ava Harrison told this story in fascinating way and I’m captivated by her writing. I swear, book after book I’m even more addicted than before. This title is a one-click, for sure!

Once again, Ava has gone and knocked it out the park and delivered an emotionally, angsty, all-consuming and addicted book that I couldn’t put down. I managed to devour this bad boy in a matter of hours, and now I’m paying for it with one hell of a book hangover.
But would I have it any other way? Definitely not. Ms. Harrison words have a way of pulling me in and keeping me tied down and as you read these words I can’t help but picture it all in my head playing out... and Entice was the exact same with as all her other books.
Her words flowed with ease, making it impossible to not fall in love with these characters.
River and Grayson story was one I don’t think I’ll forget any time soon.

Grayson has baggage. He’s a man who loves his family, but won’t let romance touch him, always keeping that out of reach and he’s got his reasons, in which I came to find out, he doesn’t do love, he doesn’t do romance but once River and himself are reunited. Feelings within him start to stir, and he finds himself feeling things for this woman that he never thought he’d feel.
Problem is, she’s his best friends little sister and that’s forbidden waters and then add in the age gap... But as much he fights these feelings, the stronger they’ll get.

River has loved and been smitten with Grayson since she was a kid, and now she 21 and of legal age, there is no stopping her from getting what she wants and what she wants is Grayson. River is a smart girl, she’s definitely more mature than most 21 year olds.

These two were drawn to each other, and they were hot as hell, the chemistry between the two bubbled, and this sexual tension could be cut with a knife and though it was a bit forbidden, it felt so right, I couldn’t help but cheer these two on, but it wasn’t as easy as being together. They had obstacles they had to take on. Things that would and could keep them apart...
But will they let them? Or will they give into this forbidden love and desire and be together?

Woah, what a book! It was captivating, addictive and insanely intense. I love taboo, and I love forbidden and this book was set on a fine line, and it was perfect!
The authors way of developing her characters and their personalities bouncing off of each other never ceases to amaze me. Grayson and River love story was just the same, these two were perfect, in every sense of word. They balanced each other out and bought out the good they have in themselves.

Pure perfection!
But I expected nothing less from Ava Harrison!

5 stars!

Another DNF for me.

So slow, literally nothing was happening except helicopter rides to the Hamptons, and then back to work in the city.

I didn’t get why the characters were obsessed with each other. There was no reason. The H just thought she was hot. Literally the only reason he wanted her so bad. I’m sorry, but I’m sure there are plenty of other hot chicks out there a super hot rich man can get- why her? There was literally nothing likable about her.

And this chick was supposed to be 20? Because she acted like she was a spoiled 16 year old. She was so worried in turning into her dead beat hippy mom- but maybe she should’ve been worried about being a leach on her dad who was struggling with money problems of his own?

So frustrating. I love age gaps, but they have to be done right. Make me believe the chemistry- and base it on more than just looks.

I received an ARC of this from a Facebook giveaway

I read this in two sittings: before bed and when I woke up to the afternoon. I couldn’t start my Sunday without finishing this book down. “One more chapter” became the motto from 60-80% through the book. After that, I was near the end, so what is the point of stopping?

I enjoyed this book so much and I think it’s one of the best age gap books done to date. I loved how nothing happened for a long time and even though the interest and attraction was there from the beginning, the book took the time to build the angst (a perfect level of angst) and build both characters to stand on their own, and then together.

For River, she loved him since she was 12. When he helped her through a rough day, she formed a childhood crush on him, but then hasn’t seen him since. Grayson’s attraction to River only started in the present, of course, but the dilemma of River being his friend’s daughter as well as just underage kept him from doing anything. When she turns 21 and legal, it’s only his morals holding him back then.

It’s only after she turns of age that anything happens. I’m sure this was done on purpose from a writing standpoint, so it may be a taboo story, but it’s in the bounds of legality. At the same time, the author didn’t have to start the story so long before her 21st birthday, but this timeframe allowed the characters’ problems to be introduced as well as their attraction for one another.

River is an awesome character. I love her backstory and her continuing story, beyond Grayson. Her rough childhood, not-great parents, the constant abandonment was all so interesting. The author did an amazing job showing how this abandonment rolled over into trauma for her and River goes a little down at the news from her stepmother. Grayson too has his own little sad backstory, about his commitment to working and his avoidance of his Hamptons house but it wasn’t as good as River’s. His character’s story is more focused on his morals and how he doesn’t want to cross the lines and hook up with River.

Once they do get together in the last half of the book, their romance is hot and sweet! The sex is steamy but their relationship is extremely sweet, especially more toward the end when things are getting so real. I laughed so hard when she was stuck under his desk.

I don’t have one negative thing to say about this book. It’s the first I’ve read from the author, but I will definitely be checking out more.

I am a huge fan of both, Ava Harrison’s books and forbidden romances, so when I saw this book was coming out I couldn’t wait.

You might think this is just the story of a young girl and her father’s best friend having an affair. But it’s so much more than that. Yes this is a story of that but it’s also the story of two people who have had things happen to them in the past, and because of those things they have issues trusting and loving others. They want to be together but can they be with all they have going against them? Can they save/help each other? Will the fact that this is a forbidden romance stop them from being together?

Ava has written a story full of angst that will pull you right in. The characters were relatable and complex and I felt for them. Grayson was so moody and cranky but he has his reasons and River was sweet and trying to get over her feelings of abandonment. They have a hard time staying away from each other and when they get together it’s explosive. Their first kiss had me swooning and sighing. Their romance was steamy and sexy and I couldn’t wait for them to get together.

Well written and heartwarming, I loved this story. Go one click!

There is always strong need to taste forbidden fruit.

Age gap romance with gleams of enemies to lover’s trope is what my romantic soul likes the best and author Ava Harrison gave me everything what I need with this book.
Captivating story kept me sleepless to the late hours of the night. I was very intrigued to discover if the relationship between two people not only divided by age difference but foremost that the hero was heroine father's best friend, had a chance to survive.
I just couldn't put it down addicted to the plot. Believe me, this relationship was very hard and twisted because they were struggling with many problems in their lifes.

Grayson Price, owner of Price Enterprise, was deliciously handsome, brooding and intoxicating man and unfulfilled daydream for River. He was 36 and absorbed by his company wasn’t involve in any serious relationship. Romance wasn’t even part of his vocabulary but River touched his soul and aroused unidentified feeling in his heart.
River Reed is 20 year old girl ( well almost 21 as she pointed out many times)
Miserable childhood gave her feeling of lost and insecurity that made her fearful and anxious.

They're were off limits to each other but temptation was to strong because where is the fun when you don't risk even for once in your life.
Both of them were fighting inner battle against forbidden feelings but the sexual chemistry was to intense to deny it. I loved their bantering at the beginning of the story and enemies to lovers kind of a relation. It was hot as f**k to witness this anticipation growing between them. They were like two magnetic who so strongly pushed and pulled one another.
This story truly blew me away with sexy seductive and emotional forbidden age gap romance.

River was perfect in the way she softened Gray's heart. Feeling the two of them come together was a journey worth taking ❤️❤️❤️

Grayson, aka Gray, is a man that carries the weight of the world on his shoulders. He's a family man through and through, but he keeps romantic attachments at arms length. He has his reasons, but once River steps into his orbit be realizes his need to live and love. So begins his struggle to open his heart and take a risk he never thought he would.

River is young, yet wise beyond her years. The need she has to be near Gray is consuming and once she sets her sights on Mr. Price, there is no going back.

These two bring out the best in each other. The forbidden aspect of their relationship is hot and sexy. Ava does a great job of pulling you into River and Gray's world and your can't help but love when both. These Price brothers are something else and I can't wait for Baby Brother 🔥🔥🔥

All I can say is, I have wasted my time with the two love interests to get together and get over their freaking shit.

And the sex scenes were about half a page long, which in my opinion is pretty anti-climatic and very disappointing since I waited and read about 61% of the freaking book before they got together.

The H is a hot and cold and very stubborn man who can't just do something for his enjoyment. Usually I don't mind this in my H characters that I read, but he just got on my freaking nerves.

The h wasn't much better since she also got on my last freaking nerves at times or she would act like something she wasn't just to get H's attention.

The description of the book is also very misleading, in my opinion.

3.5 emotional, forbidden stars

The blurb to this book hooked me right in, an emotional forbidden romance between a girl and her father’s best friend… Sign me up! With just the right amount of angst and drama, this passionate and intense love story is an engaging read from start to finish and I really enjoyed it.

River is only 12 years old when she meets Grayson. She has literally just been left by her flighty mother on the doorstep of a father she doesn’t even know, and it’s Grayson who comes to her and soothes her hurt on that devastating day, and it leaves a mark on her heart forever.

I think of the man who has haunted my dreams since I saw him at twelve years old … The man who saved me without knowing, and who I have loved ever since.

Shortly after that meeting, Grayson and River’s father had a falling out that led to them separating from each other’s lives. It’s nine years later when they finally get in touch when Grayson has a business proposition for his old friend, and that’s when a 20 year old River re-enters Grayson’s life. He initially doesn’t recognise her, and it’s lust at first sight when he lays eyes on her, but when he realises who she is he immediately declares her off limits.

There’s something about her that drives me mad. She is almost fully ripe, but not quite. Dancing on the fringe of fully blossomed. It’s like watching a rose opening its petals one by one in slow motion.
No one is opening anything, Grayson Price. Look the fuck away.

The age difference isn’t actually that huge, for most of the book she’s 21 and he’s 36, and that’s quite reasonable. It’s River’s father that makes it all so forbidden, coupled with the fact that Grayson has declared himself a bachelor with no plans to ever marry or enter into a committed relationship. He has reasons for this decision – very real to him, but incredibly frustrating for the reader – and it’s this battle that he fights as he finds himself falling deeper and deeper into feelings that he never wanted to have.

Grayson is a deliciously complex character. Gruff, broody and solemn, he lives a mostly solitary life, working side by side with his siblings to run their family’s empire. He’s controlled and doesn’t reveal his feelings (though he rarely has them), but there’s something about River that calls to him. He knows he can’t take things where he wants to, so instead he settles on being a friend – spending time with River, supporting her through hard times and being there for her. Staying close, but not too close. It sets up a slow burn as the two of them get to know each other, denying their feelings while their chemistry burns strong. Until it reaches breaking point.

“I can’t stop thinking about you. I wanted you that night and every single day since then. I have fought every single day not to grab you and make you mine.”

Oh, I do enjoy a slow burn! And by the time Grayson and River act on their sexual tension, feelings are firmly developed which makes it all the more intense, and I loved seeing them finally act on all of that passion for each other! We get to see lots of little moments that make up their ‘relationship that isn’t a relationship’, and it’s a continuously developing, intriguing and entertaining dynamic.

Despite what I wanted, it’s more.
I like her. Enjoy her company.
She makes me laugh.
Not many can break through the walls I have built, and she has. She didn’t just break through them, though. No, River took a sledgehammer, and now I’m the idiot with a smirk on my face in my office looking at her texts.

Despite their impossible situation, River knows she’s fallen, and she handles herself sensibly and maturely through it all. And as painful as it is to watch, Grayson’s heart is in the right place as he tries his best to keep his distance, knowing that River has been emotionally scarred by being left by the people she loves, and he doesn’t want to hurt her like that again.

It’s dramatic and emotional, but there are moments of sweetness, happiness and signs of what could be, and it’s those moments that kept me so invested in these two as a couple. They are gorgeous together, they fit so well, and there is some great character development as they figure it all out.

She made you feel so goddamn much, how could you not fall in love with her?

On the sidelines, Grayson’s brother Jaxson is an absolute riot, doing what he can to push his brother’s buttons, and I loved the part he had to play. I also really loved River’s father and stepmother. I love that the side characters add depth to the story, and to Grayson and River’s journeys, and with some minor family drama on the side, I thought the different aspects of the story were all woven together so well.

After all of that development and slow burning though, I did think that the ending of the story was a bit rushed. Everything seemed to wrap up easily and quickly, and then it was just over. There is an epilogue which provides some nice closure, but other plotlines are left unfinished, and I would have liked a bit more to really finish everything off properly.

But I did enjoy this book. It didn’t give me hard-core feels, but I was engaged and connected, and I thought it was a really good read.

3.5 stars.

Is it too much to ask for that once - just once - I get story where a young adult woman falls in love with an older man and it's not a complete train wreck? That's all I want.

The premise of this one was interesting. The man in question inadvertently saves a young girl's life by giving her hope. When next they meet, she is full grown and enjoys a moment of playful flirtation with him until he finds out just who she is.

From there on? Complete train wreck.

River may physically be twenty years old, but mentally? She's Fifteen AT BEST. This girl has s so many serious issues that I hardly know where to start with her. To begin with, she relentlessly teases Grayson one morning, in her parents home, by barely wearing more than a t-shirt, but then feels "cold and berated" after she makes him uncomfortable and he leaves for his own home.

In another scene, they all go out for dinner where her step-mother falls ill (she almost passes out after vomiting). Of course River doesn't know this as she's too busy harassing Grayson after once again, making him so uncomfortable he walks away. So when he gets the text message from her father and tells her that HER STEP MOTHER IS ILL AND THEY LEFT - she of course feels abandoned. Crying and pulling a woe is me act that they have "forgotten" about her. These feelings are made worse when it comes out that there is nothing wrong with her step-mother except she's pregnant. This sends River into a tantrum, causing her to move out (and expect her already struggling and strapped for cash father to pay her rent) because how dare they have a child of their own.

Grayson is nearly as bad with his hot and cold treatment of her. One minute he's capable of having a conversation with her, the next he's distant and glaring. Or worse, he's practically growling at her over everything. Her choice of clothing. Her attitude. You name it. And of course, on more than one occasion he tells himself that it's wrong for him to have feelings for her because she's a child. His friend's child. Oh I guess here is where I should mention that River's parents were in high school when she was born? Or that Grayson is only fifteen years older than her? Or how about the fact that River's father Tyler (you know Grayson's friend) had a tantrum years prior (when River was about eight) and the two men hadn't spoken a word to each other until recently?

As if the abovementioned things weren't enough to make me want to tear my hair out - the fact that this book is in desperate need of another edit just might. There is so much repetition of dialogue that I was wondering if these characters suffered from some kind of memory loss. For example, in one scene dear River is envious of the relationship Grayson has with his brother and sister - and a few chapters later acting surprised and asking him if he had a sister. Grayson asks River when her birthday is at the very first dinner, even finding out how old she is going to be (twenty-one), but then later on when she mentions it, he becomes very happy to "learn" that she's turning twenty-one "soon". Or my personal favorite when River tells him her mother didn't call her on her birthday, so Grayson asks her to tell him more about her life with her mother. A few paragraphs later this happens.

“No. Not even on my . . .” I trail off, my emotions rising up and making my jaw tremble. “She didn’t even call on your birthday?” he grits through clenched teeth."

Seriously? You can't remember something that was just said two pages ago?

Of course, despite him repeatedly telling her that they can't be together he takes more and more risks with her in public until they are caught. And not even in the juicy way I was expecting given one of the side plots. Of course her dad is justifiably furious at first. But everything is wrapped up with a bow by the end.

I don't think I'll be reading anything else by this author. At least not for a good, long while.

***4 Stars***

I do love me some forbidden/age gap lovin’, so when this baby popped up I decided to give it a go and though it did drag for me in some spots, in the end I really enjoyed River and Grayson’s journey. It was fun, frustrating, sweet, smexy and swoon worthy and when everything was said and done, I found myself wanting to spend more time with them and their families.

I loved River and Grayson, I did, but the baggage these two carried around wa heavy. River is a mix of bold and mischievous and vulnerable and stand-offish. Her heart was bruised at a young age and she has used it as a reason to keep people at arms length even when she obviously wants to pull them closer. Grayson is a grump. He really is, but he’s also a grump who truly does care about those he calls his own, even if won’t allow himself to show it.

Their journey was definitely and interesting one. There is a lot of push/pull going on. A lot of misunderstandings, but also a lot of healing as well. The funny thing about River and Grayson was that they were actually battling the same demons and ended up being just what the other never knew they needed to face those demons. River helped to soften Gray’s rough edges, while Gray gave River someone she could lean on and know that he would always be in her corner.

This was my first read by the author and I really enjoyed it. As I said at the start, there were some places that dragged for me, but they didn’t affect how I felt about River and Grayson. And while I’m happy with how things ended up, I do wish there had been a little more time spent in the end tying up some of the issues in the story - this isn’t to say that the don’t get dealt with, because they do, I would just liked a little bit more. And as for the supporting cast of characters, all were well written, but Jaxson was the one who peaked my interest the most and I’m crossing my toes that he gets his own HEA in the future!

This book was like an unseasoned chicken. There was nothing inherently wrong with it, there was just something missing, and it was super boring.

River and Greyson. She was a trooper. He was so crabby but she brought out a good side of him. I loved that River had a hippy side like her mom that she tried so hard to hide. This was a good story.

Ava Harrison is the goddess of angsty, sexy, all the feels, believable reads and this book is all of those things and more. I love an age gap romance and not only is Entice an age gap, but also a dad’s best friend story. Hello! Yes, please! I loved the touch of forbidden with this one. Her words draw me in and leave me reeling. Every. Darn. Time. They’re beautiful and angsty, and real - there are always real emotions and fears in her books that keep me turning the page…or avoiding that pause button. Full transparency, I did not feed my family today, they fended for themselves, so I could stay immersed in Ava’s world. Entice is another spectacular addition to her catalogue of books.

Grayson Price is a broody, unfeeling, and well, quite simply, grumpy bugger…who also happens to be sexy as hell. He’s dealt with a lot of loss that has shaped his opinions and actions. He thinks he’s protecting himself and others by not opening up, so even though he is grumpy, his reasons are valid and it makes him all the more lovable. River hasn’t had the easiest childhood, she experienced a very erratic upbringing before landing on her father’s doorstep at age twelve…the same day she met and became infatuated with, Grayson Price. The events in her past have left her scarred and insecure. Her fears of abandonment are very real and affect the way she deals with things. Despite that, she has a friendly and happy personality.

Sometimes you meet characters, and you just fall in love with them, that happened with Grayson and River. They are so different that they were the perfect complement to each other. Grayson was broody and unfeeling, whereas River was joyful and felt too much at times, they balanced each other out. The sexual tension between this couple is off the charts, I adored the will they, won’t they element, even though we knew they would, we were just waiting on Grayson to make that move, and once he does, it’s like a dam breaks. And it is perfection. River was definitely the girl to break Grayson out of his walled defence, and it was a joy to listen to his walls cracking as he let her in and opened himself up to love.

I loved the rekindled friendship between Grayson and Tyler, which is what made this book have that forbidden feel. I adored that River found herself a friend in Sadie and I’d love to see her have a story. There is a little undercurrent of mystery to the story, and I liked that it wasn’t a big part of it, but enough to quip interest and have River be the one to want to figure it all out. A big part of the story is River’s mom, and why she keeps abandoning her, I thought that was written to perfection, and I loved watching all those pieces fall into place. Gray’s interactions with his family were fabulous, I always love seeing sibling connections. I cannot wait for Jax’s book.

Sebastian York was fantastic as Grayson Price, it was brilliant casting. He plays the grumpy and lovable bachelor so fantastically. It’s no secret that my favourite SebYo performance was in Absolution, but I think this one is next in line. Virginia Rose has such a lovely tone, and I thought she played the young and enticing River Reed wonderfully, I will say that if I hadn’t known River’s age, I’d have thought she was a little older but other than that, her performance was amazing. The emotional moments were performed spectacularly…I shed a few tears, not going to lie. I thought their voices complemented each other really well, and it was an enjoyable listen. I can rarely spend a whole day listening to a book these days, but I did, and it was a joy. The production was wonderful, with no noticeable issues.
