In this version a boy gets a the velveteen rabbit for Christmas. One night at bedtime the boy couldn't find the toy he usually went to bed with so his mother gives him the velveteen rabbit. From that point on the boy is inseparatable from the the rabbit. One day the boy gets and all the toys have to be taken away because of the germs. So the velveteen rabbit is taken away. That makes the rabbit very sad but the toy fairy appears and turns him into a real rabbit because the boy loved him. One day the boy sees the real rabbit and it reminds him of his toy rabbit but he never realizes that it was his toy rabbit.

As a student, I thought this book was great. This relates to so many other students because every student has had an important stuffed animal growing up.

As a teacher, I think this would be great in a kindergarten classroom. There are many lessons and activities you could do with your students after reading this book.
