I want to be Rukaiya’s hero, but she’s made it clear she can take care of herself. Her fire burns me. Her fierce nature lures me in. She’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing, and I want her to devour me. She enjoys defying me and I love to taunt her.

I always get the girl.
Every. Single. Time.
And this time is no different.

He’s trying to be my knight in shining armor, but I don’t need him to be. That’s what I tell myself, anyway. Etienne doesn’t give up easily. He’s adamant to change my mind. Only, he doesn’t realize that being with me could get him killed.

As I push, he pulls, and one of us is about to get wounded.
Secrets. Desire. Violence.
Our love is volatile.

When secrets are spilled, nobody is safe.

Things get a lot dicier for our little band of righteous rebels.
I wasn't sure how Etienne was going to handle not only his father but Ruka's stubborn sense of "I don't need a knight".
He was so head over heels for her.
I admit I liked that he acknowledged she was capable of taking care of herself and that he just wanted to be beside her not in front and not behind.

Wait till all the secrets begin to unravel!
To say I was having multiple WTF moments would be spot on.

I did at times think Ruka was being unnecessarily stubborn. Toward the end, she climbed down off her horse and admitted she wasn't all that. Yeah, it was after her world unraveled but sometimes we need that shove over the cliff to open our eyes.

As with the first in this series, there were times I had trouble connecting with the cast. Their actions wavered between mature and juvenile. I also would have liked a bit more personal intimacy (emotional) time between our two main characters.

I am very eager to see where things go from here for our little round table of kings and queens

Also Haha mom you had that coming!!

Volatile Love by Dani René is book Two in The Gilded Sovereign Series. This is the story of Rukaiya and Etienne. I have read the previous book which I do feel helped me to enjoy this one. But with that said you could make this a standalone if you want to do that. This was a instant attraction/feelings but in actual read it was a slow burn type romance. Rukaiya knew of her father's dangerous side which she wanted to protect Etienne from his evil. But Etienne is also from darkness and he wanted to protect Rukaiya even if she didn't want him too.
This was a younger hero and heroine story line. I enjoy Ms. René's dark romances.

Once I started reading this series I wasn't sure it was going to be for me but , OMG ! these characters just suck you right in as their intriguing and dangerous and "yes", down right volatile.

The story drew you right in from the very beginning and from then on had you engrossed in the story to the very bitter end as their was always so much going and and so many secrets and lies coming to life. There were also a few curve balls thrown and directed at the crown members themselves but, like another reviewer stated we got a lot answers but, there is still a lot more going and we still need answers because there still is a lot more pain to come along with secrets to unearth and lies to exposed.

You can't help but be drawn to these broken men in this story who are sexy as sin and just as deadly yet, your intrigued with the darkness within them.

Eitenne and Rukaiya in every way were a match made in heaven you could say as they had a whole lot of chemistry between them but, she will be the one to ground him and save his soul.

Change is coming and who the victors will be will be anybody's guess, but, with strong women standing at their beside of their men their making a difference but, blood is yet to be spilled and we have a feeling we are going to be in for one hell of a ride next time around when the story unfolds even more.

The whole concept of the story drew you right in and the story itself kept you in edge to and turning the pages the very end.I could not put the book down.I have to say were are enjoying this series and enjoying its characters even more.

This one turned out to be quite an interesting ride on more than one front. Lots of secrets reveal even more are hinted at and promised to be reveal in the next book and a romance that is insta in a lot of ways and yet was slow burn in others. All of which kept me turning the pages to see just what would happen next.

I really liked Rukaiya and Etienne. Rukaiya isn’t as fragile as she appears to be, while Etienne is...well he’s a lot more complex than most would ever guess.

Their journey to their HEA was an interesting one. As I said at the beginning it’s this strange mix of insta yet slow burn. They are drawn to each other and yet it takes a while for things to actually progress (mostly due to outside issues). But when they finally got time together, I liked the flow between them and could see that once the crazy in their lives were managed they could have a true HEA.

This baby was one heck of a ride. There is still a lot more to come in the revealing of the secrets department, but the ones that were revealed were doozies. My only real issue was that the story felt choppy and rushed in some places and I was left wanting more. But with that said, I loved catching up with Ares, Dahlia and Tarian and am definitely looking forward to seeing what all goes down in Tarian’s book!

I heart this story! The Gilded Sovereign book two takes us along for the ride with Etienne and Rukaiya as their story unfolds. There’s more then meets the eye when it comes to Etienne, the persona he shows is just the tip and seeing him open and peel back his layers for Rukaiya is priceless. We’re given a story that will keep you on your toes with the twists and turns as more characters reveal what they’re kept secret for so long. The brotherhood is strong and seeing the lengths that are taken will leave your jaw on the floor. I cannot wait for book three in the future.

“Long ago, the world was ravaged by men who believed they were gods. They knew that with wealth would come supremacy and the possibility to reign, creating a society with limitless power. A chosen handful of self-proclaimed rulers, who wanted more, took it upon themselves to band together. Hungry for the privilege and influence that came with being one of the men who would sit at the table within the society aptly named, the Gilded Sovereign. The men, who became known as the Crowns, would be succeeded by their first-born sons on their twenty-first birthday, walking the halls of Tynewood University as if they’re paved in gold. The Sovereign reveled in the domination afforded to them.”

Etienne goes to London in search of his girl, Rukaiya(best friend of Dahlia,nook1), who suddenly left when Area’s father, Abner Lancaster went to jail. Etienne will meet with his father in London to ask for help. Rukaiya will be forced bu her father to entertain some men with her dance in exchange for information. There she will meet Thane, uncle of Tarian, a dangerous man who seeks a seat at the table. Rukaiya is a strong woman who has had to survive the death of her mother as a child and the little or bad treatment of her father. Etienne has been enamored with her since he met her but she has always kept her distance. It is not until she returns home that she gives him a chance, but not everything is happiness since the problems follow them.
Betrayals, lies, resurrected dead....
In short, difficult to get bored with these series.

Volatile Love is the second book in the Gilded Sovereign series by Dani Rene, and what a story we get!!!  it’s Etienne and Kukaiya’s turn At the helm, and as each book is standalone, it is so much more enjoyable reading them in order as the background story follows through.

Volatile Love is a fast-paced story that is just as explosive as the romance burning up these pages.  The connections between not only Etienne and Kukaiya but the friendships are strong.  It is so well written you feel like you’ve become part of the story.

The drama pulls you in but also all the secrets that start to be revealed.  The way Ms. Dani releases the information, as well as the build-up of this story, is just captivating.  Even though some things were answered I am left with more questions and I can't wait for the next book in the series.

Rukaiya doesn't need or want a knight in shining armor.  But Etienne has set his sights on her and nothing is going to hold him back from getting what he wants.  As the push and pull of their volatile chemistry expands, so does the forces and people around them.  We are taken on a ride that is perfectly written.

Royalty and rules are a running theme throughout this series. There are secret agendas at work here, while Etienne and Rukaiya fight their feelings and work to uncover the secrets that threaten to unbalance the Gilded Sovereign. This was an exciting read, full of revelations.

I like a strong female lead, but at times I wanted Rukaiya to give in a little. Etienne was such a hot head, but nothing and no one was going to come between him and his little wolf! Their attraction was insanely hot. I loved the loyalty between Etienne, Ares and Tarian, and I can't wait to see what happens next!

Cruel War kept me at the edge of my seat and Volatile Love is no different. While I am not a big fan of insta love, the characters' attraction was insta love yet a slow burn. They're chemistry is pretty interesting and unique but that's what makes them keep your attention. Their banter is great and their chemistry is just deliciously hot. I got some answers but also more questions and now I have to wait impatiently for the next book to find out more. So many secrets and all the revelations were just suspenseful and twisted. Another amazing story by Dani Rene!

This story, and indeed the series so far, is a page-turner. It is explosive and unpredictable with intriguing and diverse characters and an array of secrets, some of which are revealed and some remain buried for the future.

Full of passion, suspense and an underlying story that continues to develop throughout the course of the series. I am a addict and this second has continued to feed my craving for more...I received an advanced copy of this book from the author.

The second book in the Gilded Sovereign series and this time we delve Etienne and Rukaiya, get ready this is one intense ride. Going back into the world that Dani has created was so welcome I love all the twists and turns and unexpected revelations. The pull between Etienne and Rukaiya has always been fizzing in the background but oh my there is nothing subtle about their attraction in this one. A story that keeps you guessing and desparate for more.

Holy angst and all the secrets and trying to keep in place all the moving pieces -- this book was incredible. Etienne and Rukaiya have an incredibly twisted relationship with everything going on around them yet their connection is undeniable. There really is so little to be said without giving anything away and this book has me absolutely longing for the next book to see where all these moving pieces are going and some answers to all the ground work that has been placed.

❝ Revenge may be sweet, but it comes with a bitter aftertaste.❞
Volatile Love is book two in the Gilded Sovereign Series by Dani René . We started off this series with Cruel War which was AHH-MAZING! Although Volatile Love is a part of a series, it CAN be read as standalone. BUT with that being said, it is SOO much better reading the books in order! In Cruel War, we met quite a few characters, and two of those amazing characters were Etienne Durand and Rukaiya Harrison. Told in dual POV, you are not going to want to miss their story! Questions are answered, and even more secrets are unraveled. We are going back into the Gilded Sovereign!

Volatile Love picks up where Cruel War left off.
❝ I’ll find her.
And when I do, I’m taking her back to where she belongs—Tynewood.❞
Dahlia's best friend Rukaiya is missing. After everything went down with Abner Rukaiya's father, Fergus, took off with Rukaiya and they have both disappeared from Tynewood.

When the guys find out that Rukaiya and her father are in London, Etienne is on the first plane there. Etienne knows there has to be more to the story of her father's involvement with the Sovereign and he is determined to locate her.
❝ The world was my oyster; I had everything I could dream of, until the moment she walked into my town, challenging me with every conversation I attempted, and then she disappeared without a trace. And that’s why I find myself in London— a world away from Tynewood— to find the beauty who’s caused my insanity.❞
Only things don't go over as smoothly as he hoped once he gets there...

Etienne wants to be Rukaiya's knight in shining armor but Rukaiya doesn't need nor want his help. She's been taking care of herself for a long time and is determined to keep it that way. So she continues pushing Etienne away in hopes to save him instead.
❝ Stop trying to save me, Etienne. I’m not a damsel, I don’t need a knight in shining armor.❞
As more secrets are brought to light Rukaiya is learning more and more about Fergus's association with the Sovereign and just how truly awful of a man he is. But Fergus has plans for Rukaiya, and he isn't going to let her go easily...
❝ Fear keeps us prisoner in the one place we need to escape.❞
Whether Rukaiya likes it or not, Etienne isn't going anywhere until she's safe and back with him in Tynewood where she belongs.

But what happens when ghosts from the past come back to haunt them...?

❝ I’m lost to the truth. And it's brutal, raw, and volatile. Just like love.❞
Gahh this series, this book, these characters! Filled with mystery, lies, suspense, betrayal, deceit, and passion I was HOOKED from the beginning to the end! There are secrets galore and every time you think you are closer to unraveling things, BOOM! There are three more secrets taking its place!

Same as with Cruel War, the secondary characters add so much MORE to the story. Dani René has created a dark and twisted world within this town and these characters. With each story, the secondary characters' are being developed so that when it's time for THEIR story, we are already in love with them. I loved the scenes where Etienne and Rukaiya were hanging out with Ares and Dahlia, it was a nice little catch up with the two of them. And I REALLY loved the scene between Tarian and Rukaiya when he was about to get in his car (if you read the book you'll know what I'm talking about 😉) that was a nice little look inside of him and GAHHH I can NOT wait for his story!

❝ Are you always so volatile?❞
❝ Only when I’m in love.❞
After reading Cruel War, I saw Etienne as the funny one; the joker; the playboy. He's actually far more complex than I gave him credit for. Etienne is hard to explain but I love his smart mouth and his cocky little smirk and I adored how protective he was of Rukaiya. He was determined to save his little wolf, whether she wanted him to or not. We see a completely different side to him in Volatile Love and once he gets his girl, he's never letting her go.
❝ Don’t ever think you can run, because once I’ve made my mind up, there is no escaping me.❞
We only got a small glimpse of who Rukaiya was in book one, it mainly focused on her friendship with Dahlia. But this time around, we learn things about her that I never expected. Rukaiya isn't the fragile, naive girl she appears to be. She's resilient and she knows what she has to do to protect herself. I never imagined she went through everything she went through as a child. In Cruel War, I had a different impression of the kind of person her father, Fergus, was... I was wrong. My heart broke for Rukaiya and the things she went through, all the while remaining as strong as she is. Yeah, Rukaiya is most definitely one of my favorite characters from this series.
❝ You’re a predator, little wolf. I’m merely your prey tonight,❞
In Cruel War, you could see the attraction between these two so I already knew that when they FINALLY came together it was going to be EXPLOSIVE! Both of them were so damn stubborn that it took a bit for them to get it together, but when they did René definitely didn't let me down as far as the steam factor goes! 🔥🔥🔥
❝ They don’t call me the god of love for nothing, little wolf,❞

Dani René has done it again with Volatile Love. She has created this amazing dark and twisted secret world that I am completely obsessed with. I don't know how she does it but she continues to pull me into this world with only her words. I can't get enough of this series and these characters and I am not so patiently waiting for the next book!
❝ There are no happy families in Tynewood, all that’s left are the scars of lies and deception from the past.❞
That ending... *SIGH* . Let me just tell you that Tarian's story is up next and throughout Volatile Love, his book was set up PERFECTLY. Although some questions were answered and some secrets were revealed, the plot is getting thicker and there is still a whole lot of mystery and deceit surrounding the Sovereign and I am on the edge of my seat, counting down the days until the release of book three, ED !

If you read Cruel War then I don't have to tell you that you NEED to read Volatile Love and if you haven't then what are you waiting for?! Mystery, lies, suspense, betrayal, deceit, and passion, what more could you ask for?! I highly recommend Volatile Love as well as Cruel War, MUST READ

I have several of Ms. Rene's books on my shelf, however, this is the third I've read.

This Gilded Sovereign series has me hooked!

I had a very difficult time putting this down.

I love twisting and turning, angst-y romance novels and Ms. Rene is oh so satisfying that love!

We met the hero and heroine in Cruel War, and I loved their development in Volatile Love.

I learned a lot here, and my interest is piqued to see what's next!

Great job keeping me hooked!

Wonderful story-telling!

This is the second book in the Gilded Sovereign series, and it is just as wonderful as the first. Dani Rene has yet again managed to weave a mystery shrouded in layers of murky truth. Etienne and Rukaiya wade through the truths, the lies and secrets to find each other at its core. Letting go of fears is never easy, but it helps when you have something else to hold onto.

I knew this one was going to be my favorite.
It was more twisted than what I was expecting.
It was definitely a rollercoaster ride, with all the revelations
and backstabbing that the "Old Crowns" were doing.
Etienne was so different and twisted in his own way...
but his heart was twice it's size and with a heart of gold,
especially towards Rukaiya.

Best book of the series so far

I actually enjoyed this one more than the first book. Ruk and Etienne relationshop is definitely unorthodox but still fun to enjoy. They weren't looking for fairy tail. They were looking to be held, to simply be free. And with so many secrets being revealed against them. I'm glad they came through.

The dark secrets keep unraveling in tynewood. Not an overly dark story. Some hot sexy scenes. More of the sovereign is exposed. The plot thickens.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

I want to be Rukaiya's hero, but she's made it clear she can take care of herself. Her fire burns me. Her fierce nature lures me in. She's a wolf in sheep's clothing, and I want her to devour me.. She enjoys defying me and love to taunt her. I always get the girl. Every. Single. Time. And this time is no different. He's trying to be my knight in shining armor, but I don't need him to be. That's what I tell myself, anyway. Etienne doesn't give up easily. He's adamant to change my mind. Only, he doesn't realize that being with me could get him killed. As I push, he pulls, and one of us is about to get wounded. Secrets. Desire.Violence. Our love is volatile. When secrets are spilled, nobody is safe.

This is the second book in The Gilded Sovereign Series from Dani Rene'. You will need to read Cruel War first. This is the continuation of Etienne and Rukaiya story. You're going to discover lots of thing about Etienne, as what you see is only what he wants to show you as a person. There is so much more to him and you will love peeling back his layers. Of course he does this for Rukaiya. This story is filled with twist and turns and of course darkness. It will keep you one your toes and have you devouring this book. I don't want to give away any of this books story line of this book. I loved both of these books and you will too if you like the dark and steamy. You don't want to miss it.

"Volatile Love" is a second book in newest and undisputable incredible series Gilded Sovereign by Dani René. First book "Cruel War" just mesmerized me and I knew right than that I will be hooked in yet another amazing series. And yes "Volatile Love" can be read as a standalone but I definitely advice you all to read book one before it cause than you will be able to understand more and you'll know many more delicious secrets. And we also meet Etienne Durand and Rukaiya Harrison main characters in book two.
"Volatile Love" picks up where "Cruel Love" left off. Fergus, Rukaiya father left off, after what happened with Abner and Rukaiya is missing too. They definitely flew off Tynewood. So when they find out that Rukaiya is in London Etienne goes there as quick as possible cause he suspects that there is more to her father's involvement with the Sovereign. But as you suspect right now is that things don't go as smoothly as he planed.
Many more secrets are revealed and many more important things appeared. But I cannot say here anything more than that cause I don't want to spoil anything and ruin to you that wonderful story. Story filled with twist and turns with a hint of darkness. It will keep all your attention until its ending. I loved both these books and I cannot wait for the third one cause I am certain that it will be as incredible as these two. So don't wait any longer and dive in into secret world of Sovereign. You won't regret it that's certain.
