This is a really good book and worth your time.
As you look at the list of Irma's books, you can see that they are romance books.
This book clearly falls into the Science Fiction genre. Albeit, there's a tad bit of romance in it as one can imagine.
Irma creates a world of characters that could make for excellent stories.
At the end of the book, I wished for sequels.

Out of print. This book was my favorite book as a seventh grader, and I found it, by chance, on eBay in grad school and bought it immediately. It holds up. The story, the genetic engineering, the sci fi, it all spans years. If you find it, buy it.

Was almost prepared to like this one, but repetitive stupidity shrouded in godlike abilities really doesn't seem to do it for me. Decent writing, tiresome predictive plot. Bleah!

This book was one of the best I've ever read. I can tell, by the reviews and the ratings, that it isn't well known, but it was amazing. It's a mix between Maximum Ride series, tons of action and romance, with a novel like the Bean Trees. I like how it's science fiction, but isn't childish. It also doesn't end with a terribly sad scene, or a happy ending. It just ends, and you can tell Shea is empowered and ready to go into the best parts of her life, something I can read and not be too disappointed that there isn't a second book to show her future.
