The sequel to 'The Winter of Enchantment' and the return of Mantari the magic cat. Sebastian and Melissa would never forget their arrival at the house called Hadlows. The long drive through the neglected park and woodland, the lake glimpsed through trees, the house, with its 'thousand windows' looking down on them and the great hall, empty but for the portraits covering the walls. Hadlows held a secret, of that they were sure.
The sequel to The Winter of Enchantment started off quite well, but I felt like the author was trying to cram too much into such a short book. I preferred the first book, as it was only in a couple of settings, whereas this threw everything at the reader - such as Greek Gods, being a sailor in the 1600s and being thrown in jail. It was also quite scary at points and some sections I found difficult to imagine.
I am disappointed that there are not more to this series, as it does feel like it has been left open for future stories. I would have liked to have seen more from Sebastian and Melissa and I would recommend these two books.
A fitting sequel to "The Winter of Enchantment", this book follows the characters of Sebastian and Melissa as they get involved in more adventures. It is just as exciting as the first book, and also quite scary in places. A thrilling read well worth seeking out.
