Read the first three Alex Mercer thrillers in this convenient bundle... GIRL IN TROUBLE He gave up his daughter years ago, but now he’ll risk his life to save hers. Alex Mercer is no stranger to kidnappings. The emotional scars still run deep from his sister’s disappearance years earlier. His daughter Ariana remains safe long after her adoption, and he cherishes the few times a year he gets to see her. The joy is palpable when he takes her on their first one-on-one outing. At least until he pauses to answer a text and Ariana disappears…
Wracked with guilt and determined to find answers, Alex teams up with an unlikely ally at the police department. As the clues reveal a pattern of missing girls, the kidnapping case becomes a race against time to save Ariana. What cost is Alex willing to pay to keep his daughter alive? Girl in Trouble is the first book in a series of thrilling stand-alone novels spun off from the USA Today bestselling Gone Trilogy. If you like heart-pounding suspense, page-turning action, and characters you’ll never forget, then you’ll love Stacy Claflin’s engrossing new series.
TURN BACK TIME A dangerous cult disbanded years ago. Now they’re back, and they want revenge. Alex Mercer spends his spare time operating a blog for missing children—a pastime inspired by his daughter’s recent disappearance. Another relative goes missing. As he follows up on leads coming into his site, the police department is inundated with a rash of missing persons cases.
The incidents seem unrelated until evidence ties the cases to a dilapidated apartment building known for its unsavory clientele. Suspicion falls on a disbanded cult. The same cult Alex’s own relatives had managed to escape from and bring down a decade earlier. The cult leaders, recently released or escaped from prison, reassemble their members and mandate a new mission to capture and kill all those responsible for the breakdown of their community.
After another loved one disappears, Alex is ready to rescue the missing people from certain death. But will he get there in time?
LITTLE LIES He’s dedicated his life to saving missing persons, but will it be enough to save himself? Alex Mercer traded in his troubled past to protect the powerless. His blog for tracking down missing persons got his foot in the door at the police academy. But on his first day of training, a heroic act drops him into the hands of the captors he once hunted.
Zoey planned to tell Alex how she felt the night he disappeared. As she and Alex’s family discover the bloody signs of his fate, past regrets and dark secrets begin to come to light. It’s enough to tear Alex’s loved ones apart. Without hope of rescue, Alex must rely on his cunning to escape captivity. In his line of work, he knows all too well that each passing hour could kill his chances of survival…
Stacy Claflin writes about complex women overcoming incredible odds. Whether it's her Gone trilogy of psychological thrillers, her ongoing Transformed paranormal saga, or her Seaside Hunters sweet romance series, Stacy's three-dimensional heroines shine through.
Decades after she wrote her first stories on construction paper and years after typing on an inherited green screen computer that weighed half a ton, Stacy realized her dream of becoming a full-time author.
When she's not busy writing or educating her kids from home, Stacy enjoys watching TV shows like Supernatural, Pretty Little Liars, and Once Upon a Time.
Wow. An amazing way to reread the first three books in this outstanding series. Suspense and action to the end. Alex is the best, can’t get enough of him. Ready for more.
fast paced and interesting. i loved this.. it was action packed.. it kept me interested and curious to see what would happen next. it was amazing and well written and i enjoyed it
I read the Gone trilogy, where Alex's sister Macy gets kidnapped, several years ago and have loved the characters since then. I have read some of the Alex Mercer books but not in order. This is the Alex Mercer Thrillers box set of books 1-3.
In book 1, Girl In Trouble, Alex and Zoey's daughter gets kidnapped and the race is on to find her before it's too late. Alex teams up with the police Captain, who he becomes best friends with, and investigates prior kidnappings that match what happened to his daughter, looking for clues that could possibly lead to her whereabouts. Zoey is engaged to someone else but it's obvious that her and Alex are still in love, so there's plenty of backstories going on.
In book 2, Turn Back Time, Macy's mother in law is kidnapped by the same cult that her, her son Luke, and Macy escaped from years earlier. They want revenge from having the cult broken up and some of them being sent to prison. Alex starts a blog for missing people, especially children.
In book 3, Little Lies, Alex is getting ready to start the police academy but is kidnapped on the way to the first day of classes. Can he save himself? Can his best friend, Captain Nick Fleshman, find him before it's too late?
I loved all 3 books. They are well written and move at a nice pace. There are enough other things going on to keep your interest. I like the shorter chapters because it moves the stories to different characters and keeps it interesting. I do recommend this series.
I received a complimentary copy of these books and this is my honest review.
Excellent series!! I love how it picks up right where the Gone series left off! Cannot wait to read the next mini series that goes with these! I highly recommend any of Stacy Claflin's books. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!
I received a copy of this book free in exchange for my honest review. I loved this series especially the first book. Everything came together perfectly. Really recommend this one.
A great series centered on Alex Mercer and his misgivings about himself and what he's capable of doing. It's fast paced and centered on Alex's family, kidnappings, and him wanting to take charge of his life and do the right things. It keeps you interested and before you know it, it's the end but you want more.
Girl in Trouble Alex Mercer is a young, mostly absentee father. One night, he takes her out and the unthinkable happens. His young daughter is abducted and his family is plunged into the nightmare that they had already been through when Alex’s sister was taken 12 years earlier.
It was well written and really shows how Ariana’s disappearance affects the whole family.
Turn Back Time The town is having a large number of missing people with no apparent similarities. When the police figure out what is going on, will they arrive in time to rescue everyone?
It is intense and you can really feel the pain the families feel. I liked the introduction to Nick’s family.
Little Lies The book goes back and forth between what Alex is going through and the effects of his being gone on his family and friends.
The ending seemed to be kind of rushed, but it was pretty intense, so I'm not sure if I wanted it to be drawn out longer.
I like how the characters grow and change.
I received this book as a gift and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
Loved this book. Little Lies. Thrilling and so many mysteries to go through. Can’t wait to continue the series. If you love thrillers read this series,!
Book one-Girl in trouble: Shows emotional depth, high-stakes suspense, and relentless twists, has a gripping opener that sets the tone for a thrilling series.
🗻 Start of a terrific, fast-paced series with thrills and chilling drama in the Pacific Northwest😲
👍👍 I love this series! Started reading at the second book and have just kept reading and waiting for the next to be released. I only just got around to reading book one and don't know why I waited! The series focuses on Alex Mercer and local police chief Nick Fleshman and their families. Alex, a father at 15(!), is getting his life together but he and his family constantly face new drama and danger. I just breezed through each story because author Stacy Claflin makes each plot so engaging. Of the author's series, this is my favorite😀
Here are my more detailed thoughts on each of the three books in the set:
Girl in Trouble Total thrillride🎢 as a serial killer prepares his next Halloween victim😲 5 🌟stars 😍😍 Loved the constant adrenaline rush as eponymous Alex Mercer struggled to save his kidnapped tween Ariana from a crazed killer. Alex is such a flawed character but his heart's in the right place. His bouts of impetuous anger and drinking notwithstanding, Alex is a good, likable guy. There's plenty of plotting and action and the shorter chapter format makes the story seem to speed by. I also liked the switching POVs and relatively tight cast of characters.
Along with the abduction there's a lot of family drama. Alex's and Ariana's family situation is complex and made the story all the more original and interesting. A really thrilling and enjoyable read that I would recommend for readers teenage and up.
Turn Back Time Why kidnap Lottie who wouldn't hurt a fly?!😲 5 🌟stars A terrific thriller in all senses of the word! Tight, well written, with suspense on every page, as more and more seemingly unrelated people go missing and a decade-old nightmare returns to haunt Alex and his extended family. My first time reading one of the author's thrillers, I really enjoyed this fast-paced novel.
Little Lies 5 🌟 stars Oh, my stars! Suspense and increasing tension from the first chapter! Crazy captivating; I was glued to this from beginning to end. I found Zoey, Alex's longtime love and the mother of his tween daughter, a bit of a wilting flower, but I guess her weakness and hysteria were justified with Alex's disappearance. Truly well-written, weaving the fears and weaknesses of the central families into a superb thriller with a killer climax!:-)
I read complimentary advance copies of two of the individual books; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Merged review:
😊👍👍This is a great thriller series. It's fast-paced and full of page-turning excitement, built mostly around two families. Alex Mercer has a fascinating family dynamic, with the daughter born to his girlfriend when they were young teenagers adopted by her grandparents. Police chief Nick Fleshman is a family man with three children. Both men and their families face death, lethal threats and abduction on a regular basis in their small Northwest town. Their domestic situations evolve from book to book so the crime part of the novels is nicely supplemented by changing family dynamics.
Alex Mercer’s mystery series, you can’t put down the books. Alex is a mess, teenager’s father, his daughter is living with her mother and her grand parents. He is not the most reliable person, but he is going to team with some police to find kidnapped children, just like his sister was abducted years ago, and will make a difference.
