Practical answers to help readers overcome their fears, anxieties, and lack of self-confidence. This book will show them how God's higher image of who they are can take root in their hearts and minds.
Josh McDowell is a bestselling Christian apologist, evangelist, and author of over 150 books, including Evidence That Demands a Verdict and More Than a Carpenter. Once an agnostic, he converted to Christianity while investigating its historical claims. He went on to earn degrees from Wheaton College and Talbot Theological Seminary. For decades, McDowell has been a prominent speaker with Campus Crusade for Christ, addressing issues of faith, character, and youth culture worldwide. His work emphasizes historical and legal evidence for Christianity and tackles challenges posed by skepticism and non-Christian beliefs. He lives in California with his wife, Dottie, and is the father of four children, including fellow apologist Sean McDowell.
An oldie but a goldie! As Christians, we are born renewed in God’s image — so our self image should be more how God sees us tab how we see ourselves.
I like the way Josh wove parenting theory through this. How we were brought up shapes how we see ourselves; now that we have a new identity, we need to be re-parented by God and our church community to reshape how we see ourselves and live our lives.
This book did feel a little basic the whole way through, but that might just be how it seems next to other (quite heavy!) books I’ve read recently. Its practicality is helpful though, and would be especially good for a new Christian.
I read this when I was a teenager and in desperate need of some self-esteem. This book forever changed how I viewed myself because I saw myself as God sees me, not everyone else. I would recommend this book to anyone struggling with their self worth!
