(not the exact words, I think, but:) "When I was young, my mom told me that the key to life was to be happy and, at school, they gave us a paper and told us to write down what we wanted to be when we grew up. I wrote 'happy'. They told me I didn't understand the assignment. I told them they didn't understand life."

The book explores the life of John Lennon without going to much into detail about anything. Easy read but not the most detailed biography of one of The Beatles' singers. One thing I enjoyed was the interpretation of some lyrics and the way these translated emotions and sentiments that JL and/or the band were feeling.
