I got this as a Christmas gift after I liked the Carolina one so much and wow!! Although at the start of it I didn’t feel it had as much heart as Carolina one the latter half was really good. I loved all of his sketches and his blurb at the end.

Sketches and trip notes, such a cool book. California Love! Really enjoyed this. Lots of adventures I want to go on and see all around California. Lots of hidden gems in places I have been but never gone off the main roads. Lots of places around SoCal.

Awesome idiosyncratic guide to (mostly) Northern California backroads. Handwritten with sketches of many of the descibed locations. More of an art book than a tour book, expressive of movement, surprise and solitude.

This is a sweet book and now a piece of history! Many of the places Thollander writes about and illustrates so beautifully are no longer around. If you see this book at the thrift, snatch it up!
