A collection of poems and prayers by such authors as Rachel Field, Ogden Nash, and Eleanor Farjeon. Includes anonymous pieces and quotations from the Bible.
Joan Walsh Anglund was an American poet and children's book author and illustrator, with more than 120 books that have sold over 50 million copies around the world in 17 languages.
This book is appropriate from birth through primary. This is a collection of poems and prayers. There are various poets that are represented including, Ralph Waldo Emerson, William Cullen Bryant and many others. There is a diversity of religions represented in this collection. However, there is no diversity in the depiction of different ethnic groups. Out takes from different poems and prayers provide fodder for discussion. Due to the religious nature of the content, I would not use this book in a classroom setting. It is a charming book to be shared between family members, especially at bed time.
