When I was 14, another friend gave me a Marian Keyes novel. I fell in-love with her wit, and humor with a dark side. This was my first experience with realistic fiction.
When I was 19, Nicholas Sparks forever changed my views on relationships. I learned what true love could be beautiful and difficult at the same time. I wanted it.
When I was 22, Jeannette Wells made me feel more emotion from an autobiographical novel than I thought possible. I wanted to be her.
When I was 30, Jamie McGuire and Colleen Hoover introduced me to the world of self-publishing. For the first time I thought: I could give this a try someday.
When I was 32, my someday came.

Austin is an amazing, quick and super fast paced read that will keep you hooked the entire time!
I love both of these authors separately, and together they are simply magical. Their writing together is just seamless, you can't really tell who wrote what. I also believe that they're highly underrated and that more people should discover and read their amazing books.
With that said, lol, let's talk about Austin. What can I say, this is such a cool and interesting story. Austin Sexton is a media mogul by day and a race car driver by night. He's from a prominent family and works hard to keep his family legacy. At the same time, racing is his passion and what keeps him sane. He's hot, smart and confident, and he definitely goes for what he wants. But Austin is so much more complex than that, but you'll have to read more to figure it out. Jalynn is a simple girl that lives to help her family. She's not afraid to speak her mind and tell it how it is. Once they meet, sparks fly everywhere, their connection is simply undeniable.
I loved Jalynn so much, she's sassy and sweet and overall a great character. I loved the banter and back and forth between her and Austin. And their chemistry is off the charts. I loved that Austin was so complex and how she was able to unravel him and his secrets. I also loved the romance, the slow burn and the hottness!
Overall, this is a great read. I can't freaking wait for Bryce's story. But I must warn you, Bryce is mine. I have already called dibs on him. Pick up Austin today, you won't be disappointed!!! <3

Eu realmente gostei do início deste livro, tinha tudo para ganhar mais estrelas minhas, porém fui perdendo a empolgação que senti no começo conforme a história foi se desenrolando.
Os personagens Austin e Jalynn me agradaram bastante. A forma como os dois se conheceram foi inusitada e a interação deles um tanto quanto tensa e instigante ao mesmo tempo. Logo, fiquei curiosa para saber como o relacionamento destes dois seria desenvolvido. E foi aí que acabei de decepcionando.
Ambos os personagens principais tinham bagagens ótimas para serem exploradas e que só agregaria ao relacionamento do casal. Entretanto, foi abordado de maneira bem superficial e sem muita atenção e cuidado.
Achei que tudo aconteceu muito rápido, não houve aquele tempo para o casal se conhecer melhor. Não deu pra sentir realmente uma ligação forte entre os dois.
Houve muitos elementos inseridos nesta história e acabou sobrecarregando, onde nenhum teve realmente o destaque que merecia, o desenvolvimento esperado.
O final foi corrido e muito da trama deixou a desejar. O que é realmente uma pena, pois pra mim esta história tinha potencial, entretanto, mais uma vez não foi bem elaborada ou desenvolvida.

A mediocre read...
There was nothing special about this book. Just meh.

Definitely not worthy of 3 stars for me but it wasn't so bad to be rated as a 2-star book so, 3 it is. I desperately wish we could give half points here :(
The story had potential with two great characters but the writer fails to give them substance. The relationship develops too fast and I couldn't feel their connection or chemistry. It lacks passion, emotions and steam, maybe that's why...
And also, too much of it is focused on car racing and family drama. I had to skip a lot, getting bored most of the time.
Still a light decent read with a female who is not a doormat and a guy who is not a douchebag!

Austin is the first book I've read by Jeannine Colette and Lauren Runow, but that is going to change in 2019! I enjoyed pretty much everything about this story. The storyline was fast paced, entertaining, and interesting. The characters had great chemistry, and their romance was steamy.
I loved the street racing aspect of the story, and how the authors put a spin on it which made it unique and different. Austin isn't just an amazing driver. He's also a wealthy businessman and a military veteran. He hides his identity when he races, because if certain people were to find out about his extracurricular activities, there could be devastating repercussions.
During this book, we also get to know a little about Austin's brother, Bryce. He is portrayed as the more uptight and responsible brother. I have a feeling he is somewhat misunderstood. Either way, he managed to grab my attention enough for me to want to know more about him. Bryce will be a 2019 read for sure!

4 "Tell Me a Secret" STARS!!!

AUSTIN by Lauren Runow and Jeannine Colette was not what I was expecting when I first started reading it. There is so much more to Austin than meets the eye, more than a hot cover, more than illegal street racing. This writing duo delivers not only steam but a story packed with feels. A total shot through the heart. There was a specific moment where I literally gasp, then the tears started flowing and I was a mess—It was heart-wrenching.
I have read and loved several of Lauren Runow books but this was my first read for Jennine Colette and after finished reading this one I'm definitely adding her books to my TBR.
Adrenaline and secrets, steam and heart, all packed in an emotional, sexy ride. You might want to buckle up for this one.
I'm insanely eager to get my hands on the next book.

He’s sitting at his desk with a pen in hand and an open binder. His eyes glance up to meet with mine. My chest tightens, and my body flushes at the beautiful man staring back at me.
I close the door behind me with a thud and fall against the weight of it.
We stay locked on each other for a few breaths before he stands to come closer.
As he walks toward me, my mind is frozen by the way his large frame fills the room, feeling like it takes up every inch and surrounding my entire view. I imagine him in his military fatigues— all broad shoulders and strong thighs under a uniform of honor— and I have to clench my legs to stop the sudden ache.
I’ve never been affected by the presence of a man the way I am with him.
Gah! Fine, I admit it. I’m attracted to him. So damn attracted.
His chin rises as he marches over, authoritative. Every step feels like it’s vibrating my very being.
I push my back against the door, taking a deep breath as he steps up so close, and I feel his warmth pour all over me.
“You have my purse,” I say with a swallow when his hand presses against the door, trapping me in.
“I also have your apology,” he says. His eyes look around my face, taking me in with every pass. His mouth parts , and the tiny pulse of his neck is beating wildly. “I shouldn’t have told you not to sleep with Bryce.”
“No, you shouldn’t have.”
“I’m also going to apologize in advance for telling you that I don’t want you dating anyone either.”
Oh, this exasperating man.
“Why do you even care?”
“I don’t care.”
“I ...” I pause, feeling my forehead crinkling as I look up at him
in confusion. “You like me.”
“Jalynn,” he says as if it’s a threat.
Lord knows I love a challenge. “You have a crush on me.”
He steps back while his eyes are trained on mine. “This is not
high school.”
“You want to get in my pants,” I tease with a devilish laugh.
“Trust me, if I could turn it off, I would.”
Oh, snap. Did he really just ...
“You want to turn off that fact that you want to get in my pants?” My words come out barely coherent.
“Yes,” he answers honestly. “No.”
I swallow. “No?”
“Jalynn ...” he starts but stops.
His eyes glaze over, laced with remorse. For what, I’m not sure. My hand tentatively stretches out. I place it on his chest and feel it beating—no, pounding against the skin. My lashes flutter as I look up into his clear blue eyes. “What are you thinking about?”
His cobalt eyes turn midnight as he stares back at me. His Adam’s apple bobs with a swallow. “You.” His hand rises to my cheek and rubs a small circle along the skin. “I can’t stop thinking about the way your eyes change from green to brown, depending on what color shirt you’re wearing, or how you have this tiny vein that pops out of your forehead when you’re mad, which is a lot. I can’t stop thinking about how you chew on pen caps or how you’re always biting this lip.” His thumb moves to my mouth, pulling my lip out from between my teeth.
His hard body steps closer, molding to my soft one. He leans in ever so slowly, his hand now cupping my chin as that deliciously woodsy scent infiltrates my senses.
I let my fingers travel up his chest and over his throat, cradling his jaw in my hand. His face is a mixture of rugged and soft, just like him.
“Are you going to kiss me, Austin Sexton?” I ask. “No.” He leans in even closer.
“No?” My eyes fall to his mouth, and I’m done for.
“Never.”

Austin... oh man. A book by 2 amazing ladies. I had a really early cut of this one. So I can't, and won't, get very specific with you. I know what you're all thinking right now... (she never gets specific with us...LOL!) You're right, I don't. Spoilers aren't my bag. *shrug* sorry, not sorry! When I learned of Ms. Runow and Ms. Colette's plans to cowrite a book series, I blinked a few times and then danced a little jig in my chair. Because seriously, how perfect. Their writing styles are remarkably similar and the talent between them... boom! (That was an implied mushroom cloud there!) Fireworks, glitter cannons, confetti, and the whole nine yards.
In this first installment in the Sexton Brothers series, we're introduced to Austin...the sexy, racing mogul and the Sexton family, by and large, by way of his story. Our female lead, Jalynn, gah, she's something... fiery and spunky... she's well - read the book! Stop trying to get me to tell you more, I'm not gonna. *giggle*
What can I tell you? Hmmm, the words, they just flow, you won't want to put the book down, I was reading this while traveling and didn't want leave their world. Immersion therapy, it's the only way, you just have to completely submerse yourself in all things JCo and Lru... they need a smush name, I'll work on it. Thankfully, there is more on the horizon for this writing duo. Bryce is coming soon! Thank you to the authors for the early ARC in exchange for my honest review. 4 stars.

What can I tell you? Hmmm, the words, they just flow, you won't want to put the book down, I was reading this while traveling and didn't want leave their world. Immersion therapy, it's the only way, you just have to completely submerse yourself in all things JCo and Lru... they need a smush name, I'll work on it. Thankfully, there is more on the horizon for this writing duo. Bryce is coming soon! Thank you to the authors for the early ARC in exchange for my honest review. 4 stars.

Sure, I watch all the movies about street racing, but I don't think I've ever read a book about it. It created a new world for me and made the oft used cliches feel brand new. Austin is a handsome, moody alpha with painful secrets, Jalynn is the beautiful, smart girl who's given up it all to take care of everyone else, and together they're an unexpected perfect match.

We learn about the world of racing, the tight bonds of the brothers, and a bit about the messed up life their father has subjected them to as he's taken ownership of the journalism empire. Jeannine and Lauren tell a believable story about a man who is more than meets the eye and a woman who finds romance in an unexpected place. I love how this story was both a standalone and a perfect stepping point for the next novel, you get the romance you desire and an overarching storyline we're sure to see in the other brothers' books.

If you're looking for a romance novel that is a bit different, Austin is the book to grab.

Wow, what a great book! We are taken into the world of illegal street racing, and you want to be in this race to a HEA.
Austin and Jalynn's story is a full throttle romance that will have you wanting more.
After their unusual meeting, our lovelies navigate their way to a relationship.
There is so much more to Austin than meets the eye, and when we learn more about him, my heart hurt for him. It was not something I was expecting.
Jalynn is full of sass and snark, and I love that she stands up for herself. And when she goes toe to toe with Austin, boy do those sparks fly.
I adore Austin's brothers, particulary Bryce. However there is also a character that I want to stab with a rusty knife through my kindle - you will know who I mean when you meet them.
We also get set up for the next book, which I am impatiently waiting for.
Ms Colette is a new to me author, however I have read quite a few of Ms Runow's books. The story and characters flowed seamlessly, so I would not have know this was by two authors.
I can't wait for the next in this series.

Remember the one situation that had your heart and pulse racing, your nerves totally blank and you thought you must die due to over-excitement. That moment right before the rush hits you and you get a kick out of something exhilarating. That's what reading Austin felt like.
"I can feel him. Not just his body but also his energy. He's like the engine of his Camaro, vibrating within me."
If you love The Fast and The Furious and are into car racing in combination with a soft sided alpha-male and a strong minded and easy lovable heroine, Austin is just right up your alley. It's a cute love story packed with the right amount of thrilling action and romance.
"My mind freezes again. I hate that this frustrating man kisses like a god and leaves me in a puddle of goo."
Austin, the middle of the Sexton Brothers is simply funny, thoughtful, spontaneous, smart, and above all totally gorgeous. He comes from money and is on a mission finding his way in life. The car races give him some kind of inner peace. Until he meets this girl, that doesn't back down and captures his mind and soul.
Jalynn is pretty awesome. I love the way she manages Austin. How she stands up to him and falls for him piece by piece.
Together they have great chemistry and the way their love and relationship develops is just perfect to me.

This is the first book in a series about three wealthy brothers who are trying to run the company their mother built into a media empire. Austin is the middle son and known for his playboy ways.
Jaylynn is a “takes no shit” kind of girl, who spends most of her time trying to keep her older brother out of trouble.
The banter between these two characters is great. I also liked the development of the story and some insight to other future characters. This is my first book by this author and I will certainly be reading more since I really want to know more about the other brothers and the future of the business.

This book is about Austin who is a rich dude but likes street racing and Jaylynn whose brother is Austin’s enemy kinda. Austin and jaylynn met in a car racing, everyone knows Austin as “falcon” and he hides his identity cuz he is a rich dude and his mother will says that if he and his brother does some illegal shit then they wont get a penny from her and thats why he has to hide his identity as also follow his passion. Jaylynn saw who Austin is but she didnt know that he is famous rich dude and austin thought they will never meet again until he sees her again cuz she is his brother’s new Assistant. This book was okayish, really fast spaced. I liked the relationship between austin and Jaylynn and also their banter. But it wasnt 2 or more star worthy tbh, there were things i liked but there could have been more emotion involved. It was meh kinda. Seemed bland

Not only are authors Jeannine Colette and Lauren Runow new to me but both the narrators Amelie Griffin and Alex Kydd are as well. This is a hot story about Austin Sexton, a successful businessmen by day and at night he is as equally successful as Falcon, an underground street car racer. Haunted by his past, his nightmares, he struggles to keep them at bay using racing as his therapy.
Jalynn was a great heroine, feisty and sass. Strong, brave and independent, she stood up for what she believed in and wasn't afraid to give as good as she got. The chemistry between Austin and Jalynn was off the charts and I loved the banter between them.; it all made for a great story to listen too. There was plenty of humour to off set the more serious back story and I found myself highly entertained.
I have no idea where one author left off and the other took over as the story flowed well. The narrators did a great hob in bringing the story to life and this will not be my last read/listen to from both the authors or the narrators.

Jeannine Colette and Lauren Runow deliver a fast-paced, action-packed book that read as quick as its hero drove. Underground street car racing is the theme in this book, and Austin Sexton certainly lives up to his reputation. This book was hot, the Sexton brothers are certainly going to burn up our kindles, and I cannot wait to read Bryce’s book.
Austin Sexton was a man that had his fair share of issues, and his way of letting off steam was the need for speed. While by day he was a successful businessman, on the track he was a formidable foe, one that every street racer wanted to beat. His reputation preceded him, and his skill and success on both fronts warranted the title. Underneath all the bravado and persona was a man though, a little broken and running from his nightmares.
Jalyn was a great heroine, and probably only someone with her demeanour would be able to put up with Austin. Jalyn was his equal, her sass and good heart kept Austin on his toes, their banter was on point and their chemistry off the charts. Jalyn had Austin wrapped around her finger with effortless ease, and the poor sucker didn’t even realise it, but when you meet the one, the heart knows and just won’t let go.
I am a huge fan of Jeannine Colette and have read a fair few Lauren Runow books too, but I couldn’t tell you wrote what, the writing was that seamless and effortless, cohesive and the flow was perfect. The character connection was perfection, with all characters and the buildup to the Sexton family as a whole certainly has me salivating for more. There is one person introduced that I want to see the back of and I’m hoping that throughout these books a certain Sexton sees the light and sends someone on their merry way, after all, there is always one bad apple.

She's not interested in money or who he is.
It was a fast and sexy ride. I loved that Jaylnn told it like it was. She took no crap and I that is what our Austin needed. Someone to look at him as a man not as a commodity.

Loved Austin! He is the middle brother of the Sexton boys and has had quite a life already.
After losing his Mom and then his father remarrying a young blonde bimbo, he joins the Marines where he is eventually discharged (for unknown reasons at the beginning of the book). He goes back to working for his family's company, the company his mother worked hard to build into a multi-million dollar company. Unfortunately for the Sexton brothers, their father turned over his shares to his gold digging wife, Austin's stepmother. This proves to be his challenge. You see, Austin has a secret he is keeping from everyone....even going by another name....and his stepmother is out to bring him down. There's a stipulation in his Mom's Will which allows the boys' shares to be sold should they ever be convicted of a crime. WTF?!? Who does that?
Anyway, he's met his match when he meets Jalynn......who just so happens to be working for his brother, Bryce.
This story line was awesome!! I loved Jalynn's badassness and I loved Austin's wit and charm (and sarcasm)! My heart was racing towards the end of the book.....ah, so good!!
I have loved Jeannine's writing and she knows it! I could never understand how two authors can write a book together, but Jeannine and Lauren are a great team!

Austin by Jeannine Colette & Lauren Runow is the 1st book they have written as a team. I have been following the two talented ladies since their first books. I was excited to read this book to see just what the two authors would come up with.
Falcon is a mysterious, undefeated street racer. The crowd at the illegal street race part like the Red Sea when his '69 Chevy Camaro rumbles its way through the abandoned lot. The guys envy his car and girls just stare at him. He wears an over size hoodie and always has a hat pulled low over his brow with his hood covering the sides. This is his high! He feels he is a god of the racetrack, and this his hidden life.
Everyone knows him at the races as Falcon, and not Austin Sexton, middle son of one of the most prominent families in San Francisco. Part owner of the billion dollar company Sexton Media, and is President of the Digital Media within Sexton Media. His deceased mother had built this company from a local quarterly magazine into a billion dollar empire. Austin and his two brothers, Bryce & Tanner, own 50% of the company. The problem is that their father and wicked step-mom own the other 50%.
Jalynn Smith, meets Falcon at the race she attended in an attempt to try to save her brother Beckett. She has an “Opp!” moment, when she accidentally crosses a line causing a false start. Next thing she knows she is being pulled by one of the racers and put into his car. The race starts over, but Falcon now has a passenger which was previously unheard of ever happening. Jalynn Smith, meets Falcon at the race she attended in an attempt to try to save her brother Beckett. She has an “Opp!” moment, when she accidentally crosses a line causing a false start. Next thing she knows she is being pulled by one of the racers and put into his car. The race starts over, but Falcon now has a passenger which was previously unheard of ever happening. I have read quite a few books by Lauren Runow and jumped at the chance to read this one that she co-wrote with Jeannine Colette.
I love a good read with some adrenaline rush behind it so the blurb for his book hooked me immediately. Am I actually really happy that this did not read like a Fast and Furious style book. It stayed true to the aspects of street racing (which I may or may not have been a part of when I was younger) and I enjoyed that is was not too sensationalized.
Austin Sexton has also felt this need to escape and running his mother's company with his brother doesn't give him that thrill. But his choice of street racing, isn't exactly on the up and up, so he can't let others know what he is up to. Only a select few know what he does and he wants to keep it that way.
Jalynn has always been the protector of her brother - been there to clean up his messes and keep on the right path. The night she joins him at a street race, she becomes more than just part of the crowd. She meets the the man behind the scenes up close and personal, but has no idea who he really is til she sees him the next day - in a place she never expected.
I love the bantering, the flirting and the chemistry between Austin and Jalynn. She definitely gives him a run for his money and puts him in his place a few times. There were a few scenes where I would have knocked him flat on his ass, but she still held her own. And I love that slowly, Austin lets his walls down around Jalynn but never gets too sappy either. Neither one lose who they really are once they realize what they really want.
I am excited to see what Jeannine and Lauren bring us next with the Sexton brothers.

I was given an advanced readers copy of this book and have decided to leave a voluntary honest review. When Lauren told me about Austin I was so excited to read it. Now that I finished it Lauren and Jeannie Colette did not disappoint at all. I love the fast and the furious as well as paul walker. I've always been into sexy muscle cars and race cars. The track is like whole other world. The adrenaline rush is epic. I'm not driver but I've been in the car for a few races I know exactly how Austin feels. I couldn't be anymore happier with how this book turned out. Loved it from start to finish. I can't wait to see what these ladies have in store for Bryce and tanner, and more Austin!!

He works for his family's and they are a media legacy but at night his passion is racing. When a sassy gal crosses his path at a race and then he finds her in his daytime world he needs to make sure that she is not going to share his night time activities. Their witty sexually charge banter is such a joy to read ! Loved it !!

Illegal racing in the 415 is what keeps Austin Sexton sane. Unexpectedly at one of those races he meets Jalynn. Their story is hot from the word go! Not only did these wonderful authors give you a quick liking to these characters but they make you want to know more of the story. The best thing is! The story continues with the next book and Sexton brother. Bryce! Can’t wait to read it!❤️

This book has so much more depth than what I was expecting.
Reading the blurb, I thought that this would be one of my light reads that I could kind of turn my brain off and submerge myself into another world. Well, I got my escape, but this book totally caught my interest from the very beginning!
Austin is so much more than a rich playboy. He was in the military, he takes his work seriously, and his escape is illegal racing. This is what sets his demons at bay and allows him to function as a semi-normal human being. He works for the family company that was hand built by his mother before she died and shares the responsibility with his brother, father, and his father's wife. Needless to say, this leads to a lot of fights in the book.
We meet Jalynn in the very beginning when Austin is being his racing alter ego, Falcon. It was not the best meeting for the two of them and they get into a bit of a tiff but then figure that they will never meet each other again. Well that holds true for about 12 hours when Jalynn reports into work and finds out that he is her boss's brother!
Sparks fly and hearts connect and some really crappy things happen in between these that moment and the end of the book.
It was a great read with a lot of heart and amazing characters. Definitely read this book!

Loved Austin, a fun romantic read. I loved the Sexton brothers Austin and Bryce. Strong male characters with great personalities. Jalynn was amazing, great sister and overall a fun and lovable character. I love the song references in the book. The story was exciting and the relationship between Austin and Jalynn was magnetic. Looking forward to reading Bryce's story.
I give Austin 5 stars for its fun romantic read.
