Hottest man in rock today, that’s what the press calls me. And I’ve always been one to believe my own publicity. So, when my bandmate makes a bet that he can find a woman who’ll refuse me, I laugh.
The laugh’s on me when a weird chick with a baseball bat breaks up our party.
Yep, she’s the one. The one I have to seduce.
But, as I get to know Sophie, she does something to me. She’s got a stubborn mouth and an appetite for tacos that leaves me for dead -- and, under that tough exterior, she’s got a heart of gold.
I can’t just seduce her and walk away. I’ll break her heart and ruin her reputation. But what’s the alternative? Guys like me don’t fall in love.
Candy J. Starr used to be a band manager until she realised that the band she managed was so lacking in charisma that they actually sucked the charisma out of any room they played. “Screw you,” she said, leaving them to wallow in obscurity – totally forgetting that they owed her big bucks for video equipment hire.
Candy has filmed and interviewed some big names in the rock business, and a lot of small ones. She’s seen the dirty little secrets that go on in the back rooms of band venues. She’s seen the ugly side of rock and the very pretty one.
The press calls Ethan the hottest man in rock today, you kind of begin to believe it your self after awhile, I mean women just love him. So his bandmate makes a bet that not all women would fall for his charm and he could find a women who’d refuse him. “No way”, says Ethan....and he takes the bet.
Little did Ethan know that he’d choose the one that had broke up his hot party, the one that didn’t like him much. The complaining one. Darn it!!!
Yep, this was a fun read with lots of giggles and groans. Lots of growing up for Ethan and I liked how the relationship between Ethan and Sophie developed, how their perceptions of each other changed. A very insightful story. A great read. I highly recommend this book!
Liked the 2 characters and the opening chapter with Sophie being a strong funny character. It was nice to have the guy be the one to see his true emotions first and admit it. Would recommend this book. Looking at the next one in this series.
I can honestly say that there isn’t a book of Candy Starr’s that I didn’t absolutely enjoy. I believe she has a winning formula and an insiders voice with which she puts her rocker books together, and, she’s been a consistent author in my one-click repertoire since I found her 5 years ago.
The Rocker’s Wager was a reasonably quick and easy read, and Ethan was every bit then egotistical rock star who believed in his own popularity. Especially the ease with which he attracted women. Everything was too easy for him, and when under the usual influence of alcohol, he’d bet that there wasn’t a woman who would deny him. Not so a band mate says, and Ethan’s beloved fender guitar is on the line.
Sophie is gorgeously down to earth, and I loved her character and her loyalty to the people who were important to her. She really gave Ethan a run for his money, and he had to dig deep in a way that he’d never wanted to before. The chemistry between them was as easy was it was intense and fun. This is a well balanced rocker book that I recommend as time and money well spent. 4 Stars.
When rock stars are in a small town with a recording studio recording their next album they have to form their own fun with the locals. Only thing is one local is living in her home which is in the back of the motel they are staying at and their late partying has her showing up to the party, finding a bat and smashing the music that was blaring. All of this as she was in her pj’s and unicorn slippers. Sophie was a plain small town girl who had taken over huge responsibilities once her mother died having to run the florist shop her mom owned. Sophie had wanted out of the town with all the gossip so her dealings with rock star Ethan sure had mouths wagging.
Ethan had girls throwing themselves at him so he didn’t understand Sophie…even though she had those slippers with a cute little nose and boy, could she swing a bat, he didn’t have the effect on her that he normally had on women. So the bet was on when his bandmate bet Ethan that he couldn’t get Sophie bedded within a week.
Feelings were connected and hearts were broken all while feeling out new uncharted territory for the bad boy rock star and small town Sophie.
A rock star in a small town recording an album who thinks he's God's gift to everything. A small town florist who cares more about her sleep than a rock god's party.
Sophie is totally fierce!! Insanely fierce! She breaks up a party by breaking up a stereo with a baseball bat. I want to be Sophie when I grow up. In the very beginning, I thought Ethan was *awful*. Like the actual worst but the more he and Sophie got to know each other, the more I started to like him.
This is a great start to this new series!! I can't wait to see what comes next!!
This entertaining and well-written Rockstar Romance has steam, humor, and amazing characters. The Rock God is the H, hey a good-looking arrogant musician who believes his own press, due to the fact that women throw themselves at him. A Small Town florist is our heroine who is down-to-earth, sexy, and fierce. A wager is made, feelings are hurt, the true selves come through, and eventually a chance at a HEA. I liked it. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.
I really enjoyed Sophie and Ethan’s story. Ethan was a rockstar with women throwing themselves at him every where he went. When he finds himself in a bet to win over the small town florist, he is in for quite the challenge. What happens between them was a great story. Along the way they both discover their HEA unfortunately it’s not always easy to get there. Fan of both of them!
Feisty girl for the rocker. Only he screws up with a bet. When she finds out it bad. Candy finishes our story with a sweet declaration of love. Read it you will love it.
