Short introductions and the unabridged texts of Magna Carta (1215), The Mayflower Compact (1620), The Petition of Right (1628), An Agreement of the Free People of England (1649), The Bill of Rights (1689), Declarations of the Stamp Act Congress (1765), Declaration of the First Continental Congress (1774), The Declaration of Independence (1776), The Articles of Confederation (1778), and the Constitution of the United States (1787).
This is an excellent collection of, as the subtitle puts it, "documents in the struggle for liberty". I was reminded of this book because recent events have persuaded me to re-read the Constitution, and that persuades me to make the recommendation to re-read the Declaration if Independence and the Constitution at least annually. Tie it to Independence Day if that makes it easier to remember. Plenty of food for thought in each.
