Pat Booth, author of Palm Beach, The Sisters, Beverly Hills, Malibu, and Miami, writes a spellbinding tale of a beautiful and extraordinary young woman who is spiritual, intensely sexual, and endowed with the power to perform miracles.
Tari Jones has it all. A gifted medical student living in the hottest locale in the country - South Beach, Miami - she has just begun a tumultuous affair with Hollywood bad boy Rickey Cage. Her beauty, vitality, and wit charm everyone around her. But when Tari is called upon to respond to an emergency-room crisis, she reaches into the depths of her soul and discovers, inexplicably, that she possesses the power to heal.
Faced with her unusual powers and the knowledge that she must spread the word that love is at the essence of mankind, Tari struggles to reconcile her spirituality with her provocative, sensual nature. She finds herself torn, as well, between her desire for Rickey and her forbidden yet unabashed longing for Marcus Douglas, a fellow doctor and a Roman Catholic priest. The choices she makes about life and love collide in a violent and startling climax.
A little too much sex for my liking, but the setting and characters made up for it. Not earth shattering writing, but quite adequate if you read for the sake of a good story.
Oh, Pat Booth, what happened? From raunchy, 1980s capitalist name-dropping wet dreams to whatever the hell this story was about. It's all about a perfect girl with a TERRIBLE name who realises she's the daughter of god and...OK, I didn't really finish it. There's a few sex scenes but honestly, nowhere near the awesome opus of Sisters, Beverley Hills, Palm Beach or even the early, sleazy fun of Sparklers. I am really not happy to report that this book is almost unreadable. But Pat Booth's other work is great fun, so I still strongly recommend looking at any work except this one.
