Robin Hill School continues to bring important lessons to beginning readers; this story is especially helpful for those who are about to have their first graduation!
Graduation day is here! But a special guest almost ruins the event. Luckily, Mrs. Connor’s class uses all the skills they have learned in the first grade to save the day!
Margaret McNamara is the Christopher Award–winning author of more than two dozen books for young readers, including the Robin Hill School series. The Fairy Bell Sisters series is inspired not only by her love of the classic sisterhood novel Little Women but by her own experiences growing up with older sisters (and a baby brother). Margaret and her family live in New York City, but they spend part of their summer on an island in Maine very much like Sheepskerry Island.
Teamwork saves the day! This would be a great book to read and to engage students about how working together can get work done faster and easier. Express how different minds and creativity can stir up during teamwork! Children need to learn how teamwork can be effective and how others can be helpful to them.
Read this story at the end of the year to your first grade students as they are getting ready to progress into their next level of education. The words are also on an early reading level. Students can read it independently as well.
