Some experiences change your life. Some relationships do, too. As Sheila Walsh walked with her mother-in-law through her last moments, the two women learned lessons of life-ones that had previously eluded them. These memories have changed Sheila's relationship with Christ and her perspective forever. And they become a blessed chronicle that will change readers' lives as they, too, are plunged into God's river of mercy.

This book is very well-written account of being a daughter-in-law to the mother of an only son and the grandmother of an only grandson. Sheila Walsh beautifully unfolds both the highs and lows, as well as the twists and turns in their understanding and graciousness in doing life apart and together. There are humorous sections as well and deeply moving sections as they each learn more about the God they love, the man they love, the child they love, and ultimately how much they have grown to love each other. This also deals with the stage 4 cancer journey so many families go through. This was a two-sitting read for me as it was interesting to me on multiple levels.

This book tells the story of the author's relationship with her mother-in-law, who describes herself as difficult. This tricky relationship improves when the mother-in-law is diagnosed with terminal cancer.
This honest account shows what is important in a relationship - and what is not.

This was a book that I liked. Sheila was totally honest about her relationship with her mother-in-law. Rough waters were navigated, but God's River of Mercy washed over both of them. I don't want to give anything away of the story so I'll just say that Sheila, her husband, their child, and her in laws and even Sheila's mother back in Scotland interacted in believable ways. This book helped me understand how Jesus walks in my life, too. Christian celebrities are not in another stratosphere but are very human, too.

This is a beautiful true story about loving those that are sometimes hard to love. (ie. mother-in-laws) Also a great lesson in how to be more Christ-like.
