Sumptuous. Extremely well written from a bevy of notable writers circa 1969. Fifty years later reads extremely well indeed. Also noteworthy for being a multiple view of the subject, not in the traditional biography form. And moreover generously supplemented with photographs of the man, Dickens, his works, the illustrations and just domains. Pity this book is no longer in print.
