When a busload of elephants on their way to the circus gets a flat tire near a construction site full of trucks, the heavyweights try to find a big truck that can help them get to the circus on time. 15,000 first printing.
I really like the way this started. The use of time in the rhyme was wonderful. But then it became repetitive...and those elephants are, quite frankly, destructive! While I think this book might appeal to kids who love trucks, it was flat for me. Maybe if I were doing a storytime of circuses and couldn't find anything else? Maybe?
The elephants are off to the circus, which starts in only two hours. However, their van transporting the elephants hits a board with nails and gets two flat tires. The elephants try out different trucks and other vehicles go get them to the show but there are always problems. Eventually they find the perfect truck and the elephants are on their way again to the show. This book is a very cute book that I enjoyed. I would like to keep this one in my classroom because it has a good message throughout. We should not simply give up if things don’t work out immediately. Students can learn this by reading this book and looking at the illustrations.
I really enjoy this book. I think there are a lot of things that can be pointed out in this book. Also, children can really learn even though it's, in my opinion, a silly children's book.
