Space Cowboys #2

Moving Earth

Rate this book
The artifact on the moon was supposed to move the Earth to safety, away from attacking alien civilizations.

That was the theory put forth by Natty Young, the Nikola Tesla of his times, who found the artifact buried on the moon and dated the obelisk back several billion years. The species that put it there were henceforth known as The Guardians.

But Natty was wrong.

When the artifact activates, Earth and its people are catapulted into an intergalactic war, far away from their home galaxy.

Even with the help of the super-sentient Nautilus starship, Earth’s chances of surviving this predicament are less than zero.

But the intergalactic war is just the tip of the iceberg floating atop a much deeper, darker mystery.

When the truth is finally revealed, Leon, the ever-dauntless leader of all Special Forces units, armored by his surrender-is-never-an-option mentality, collapses right in front of his Special Forces men and women. Never a good sign.

Was the artifact on the moon meant to be a Trojan horse all along? Was it hacked? Or are they being parented by a several-billion-year-old civilization tired of coddling? So many questions, not enough answers, and not nearly enough time.

While action-packed sci-fi/techno-thrillers set in the near future are my forte, I also stray into other genres from time to time, such as space operas, paranormal fantasy, and detective stories. All my novels can be described as action-thrillers, no matter the sub-genre.

You can sample my writing with a free sci-fi e-book set in the near future by visiting my website https://deancmoore.com and signing up for my email list.

I live in the country where I breed bluebirds, which are endangered in these parts, as my small contribution to restoring nature's balance. When I'm not writing, or researching my next book, I may also be found socializing with friends, or working in the garden.

If you'd like to know what compels me to write, it's simple. I write as a force for peace. Fiction has a way of engaging our whole minds, not just our intellects, but various layers of our conscious, superconscious, and unconscious. Novels also encourage our left and right cerebral hemispheres to get in sync and, with just enough magic and wizardry, can help to transform people into more enlightened souls (the writer included) better than a hundred years of therapy or rational arguments to the same ends.

I've remained a lifelong student of philosophy, spirituality, psychology, science, and the arts.

Mark Freeman Enterprises (MFE) is my company. I sometimes publish under that label or simply under Amazon Digital Services.

Moving Earth (Space Cowboys #2) by Dean C. Moore is a great story to read. This is book number two in this great series that I have enjoyed reading very much. I recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about Sci-Fi in their stories.

I got a courtesy copy from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader copy of this book. I thought this was a great book, I was surprised by the humor that was in this book. I liked the fact that my favorite author Robert Heinlein is mentioned in this story.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
After reading Sentient Serpents (Space Cowboys 0) and The Star Gate (Space Cowboys 1) I was looking forward to reading Moving Earth. Although it is a stand-alone novel, I would recommend reading Moving Earth after reading the earlier space opera novels.
So many ideas and theories come to play in this novel set in this galaxy and galaxies beyond the Milky Way. Battles between space ships, aliens, planets, stars and space stations, there's so much going on. But still the people of earth, or those created by the super-sentient ship that is Natty's play chest, are still human, or should I say humanoid. But the line is pretty thin, when a human is upgraded, modified or expanded. And is there a soul, if a human is bio-printed multiple times?
Somehow the author manages to keep the characters in this really big book interesting and kept me engaged in their development!
But, for me, the star of this novel is the multitude of ideas and the speed at which the authors deliver them to his readers! Universe, multi-verse, alternative time-lines, the stage is grand. Weaponized ghosts, nano-technology, levels within levels, teleportation, technology, world eaters, dyson spheres, there's so much in this book!

Dean C. Moore is my go to for science fiction that both enjoyable and makes you think (a neat trick). In his Space Cowboys series he’s proven that he can do both of those Things and also add superbly thrilling action into the mix. That was certainly the case with the first book in that series, The Star Gate (separately reviewed) and its now again shown in Moving Earth (Book 2). This is one fantastic novel. See the publisher’s blurb for a perfectly good summary that doesn’t give away anything essential. Just add to it that this book is extremely well written, has a truly neat plot that’s clearly contributing to a growing plot line that’s going to be intricate, fun and exciting, and populates this with a great cast of really well crafted characters. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.

"Walk softly but carry a big stick."
Moving Earth, Space Cowboys 2, is a big book and it would be easy for it to lose it's way in the ongoing action. But it doesn't. Instead, it maintains the tensions, and curious confrontations, and excitements , to the end. And, amazingly, it is also very humorous in parts, as well.

I had expected to enjoy this science fiction ("S..t. Someone has moved the p!anet! ") and supra human tale but was unprepared for just how immersive the story became. I should have realized from the very beginning when the super smart child, Haley, realizing that the earth has moved out of it's usual celestial position and she, her dad and her barely conscious mother dodge the cascade of meteorites apparently aimed specifically at them, still conducts a witty conversation with her father whilst also driving the car. I was instantly hooked.

A great, fun read which does not require previous knowledge of the characters. Just dive in - and enjoy.

This is one hell of a novel! Dean has written this sci-fi novel in a class with authors like J.K. Rowling, George R. R. Martin, Terry Goodkind, and Brandon Sanderson. Keeping focus on the world's he built and the characters that are defined by a constantly changing environment from the first page to the last is extraordinary. Dean has outdone himself with this novel and I hope it's that he will continue to have that awesome factor I love so much. I felt like I was part of the team, one of his characters come to life as I escaped for hours into his world. This is a very big novel,I couldn't stay up long enough to finish it, no matter how much I didn't want to leave it. I found that I was right back into the thick of things as soon as I picked it up again. I loved it and think you will too!

Wow, what a ride! If you like your sci-fi space opera style then this is for you. All my favorite characters from the first book, Star Gate are still here along with multiple new characters and clones too. They're up against the Collectors to try and break out of their space prison. They're going to bring along as many worlds as they can. There's tons of action, political intrigue, bad guys and good guys. Let's hope the good guys win because that's not always how it works. While this is the second book in the Space Cowboys series, it can easily be read as a stand alone. This author really has it going on and I'm looking forward to reading more. I absolutely loved it!
PS I'm grateful to have received an ARC. My review is voluntary.

Once again, Dean C. Moore has brought us a Space Opera full of excitement and adventure, with characters that are rich and well-developed, and so easy to identify with that you can’t help but believe in and root for the characters throughout the story! There is just the right amount of plot twists that it is hard to put the book down (believe me, I tried). The narrative keeps the reader engaged and flows easily through the imagination. While this is the second story in his space opera series, it could also be a stand-alone book with little or no knowledge of the prior story in the series or the prequels to the series. I am excited to see what Dean C. Moore has for us next with this particular cast of characters!

Imagine teleportation…on a galactic level.

A story of an amazing number and variety of alien worlds, incredible, nearer-than-you-think technology on hand, or discovered, seized and modified to use against a myriad of enemies…across the entire universe.

Author Moore incorporates many, many of today’s forward-thinking concepts – mind uploading, 3D bioprinting, singularity, and more – into a wild ride well beyond good versus evil. This is not a 10,000-word sci-fi space opera, but rather a War and Peace-length read which will have you chuckling one moment, grinding your teeth the next, and soaring fantastically within the story, and within your mind.

Entertaining and compelling, thought-provoking at the deepest level. Worthy of your time, if you’ll commit to it. Do it!

Wheels within wheels. Earth is attacked and with the help of advanced AI they are free of the aliens but venture into space to find more challenges. Transgalactic Civilizations and Transgalactic Empires are all meshed into his amazing book. It appears that the various galactic civilizations are being held in a so called galactic prison being controlled by the Collectores who pit one agaist the other to creat pychic effects for their own being. The author in my opinion has put together a master piece of galactic magnitude which is hard to put down. A very long book but well worth the reading if you are a hard core SF fan.

Overwhelming odds? Bring it on. In this space and time adventure across many dimensions comes this epic tale that will keep you on your toes as the cast of characters takes on the multiverse to make it a safer place for every life form. I truly enjoyed the quick pace and action of this novel. Just when things seem to be well in hand and going according to plan - boom! New situations and more revelations about how things really work. I was amazed and never guessed how skewed paradigms could get. There are a few crude areas. I would recommend this to all sci-fi lovers that want an epic portion of adventure and fast-moving plot line. This should be rated for mayhem throughout!

If you enjoy Star Trek, Firefly, Battlestar Glactica and throw in a bit of Dr Who whimsical then you must read this series immediately. This book continues from book 1 with all the usual and beloved suspects thrown in the mix together with new enemies/frenemies and worlds. As usual the upmost attention to detail is given to every single character, scenario and adventure unfolding in this ultimate epic space opera adventure. Loved the fast paced action, the drama and well-orchestrated plot. This is a must read for young adults and up - you will not be disappointed!

I received an ARC copy and this is my honest and voluntary review

Moving Earth, the latest installment in the Space Cowboys saga is an action-packed science fiction story filled with scientific principles, speculative fiction, intrigue and an immense amount of detail. The character and world/civilization development in this story is second to none.
If you are looking for a science fiction story that will keep you engaged and wondering how much of the technology/principles might be possible Moving Earth is a solid choice.

Keep your mind wide open and pray to Techa your spirituality is in good standing order!

A mind-blowing, intensive work that doesn't need you to read the previous book, but it does help a bit for frame of reference. This work is incredibly well-thought out, highly researched and yet sends the reader on a ride that reminds me of a juicy story from the A-Team, with the multiverse held in the balance. You may think you you know where this story is going, but man, does it trip you out like an 8 hour high, and keeps going. Loved every page!

What a rush...

OMGL (Oh my good Lord)! Imagine Sir Isaac Asimov as Alive in Wonderland meets Chris Angel, Mind Freak. I won't spoil the ride, but I would highly suggest you read the previous books. It will help make sense. Otherwise, you might think yourself on a bad LSD trip. It was very difficult having to stop reading in the wee hours of the morning, as you just have to know what's next for Leon and Omega Force! Get in, buckle up, and hold on tight!!!

I did receive this book for free. I greatly enjoyed it and wanted to leave this review.

Expansive, thought provoking book. More science than some text books, but that does not bog down the story. Lots of engaging characters, some you learn to love, some you learn to hate.

Don't read if you don't want to get caught up in a long, well written tale.

Wow! This book is a wild ride. So much action, so many characters, sooo many clones. Sometimes it's hard to figure out which clone you are following but it is well worth reading this book. Fast paced and intriguing. With twists within twists within out right betrayals.

Fairly sure there is at least one or two more books coming. Waiting somewhat patiently.

Once again the Alpha og Omega teams with their friends has to save the day, together with their sentient ship and multible timelines to snoop around.

The Earth is moved and is in peril from a very dangerous foe.

This time the ante has been upped…. and it is the earth that is the price.

I like the descriptive language used. Lots of sci fi references. Great for geeks. Humour, too. They’re continually getting out of the frying pan and into the fire. They miraculously invent just the tech they need, or find it - over and over again. But this stretches credulity. Similarly, their understanding also takes intuitive leaps all the time. Seems far fetched. There was some swearing, and sexual innuendo in a number of spots. Some homosexual content, but not graphic; more done in passing, and sometimes to provide comic relief. The end of the book sets the stage for the next in the series, but isn’t a cliff hanger. The end of the book has a number of references as to where the author got some of his ideas – based on scientific theory – that was interesting. This is a very long book, with lots of convolutions – it could have been broken into perhaps 2 shorter books. I received an ARC copy of this book, with no obligation.

This book reminds me of the stories written in the 60's after the author dropped acid. I tried, I really tried to read it, but 80 chapters in, it was just too much. It reads like a video game. I see that other readers really liked it so, you might, but I just could not go any further.
