My name's Heidi Rice, I'm a USA Today Bestselling author. I'm married with two sons (which gives me rather too much of an insight into the male psyche!).
I love my job because it involves sitting down at my computer and getting swept up in a world of high emotions, sensual excitement, funny feisty women, sexy tortured men and glamourous locations where laundry doesn't exist ...
I also tutor a 14-week in-depth online Write a Romance Novel course. So, if you have ever wanted to learn how to write romance from a bestselling author, check it out here: www.profwritingacademy.com/course/wri...
Now I believe wholeheartedly that readers should give honest and open reviews on Goodreads and Amazon and elsewhere. If you didn't like a book you are entitled to say so (even if it's mine! ouch). But you may notice that none of my book reviews are less than four-stars. That's simply because as an author myself I know how pathetically sensitive I am about bad reviews and with that in mind I prefer to spread the love among other authors — and don't do public reviews of books I didn't like. Just thought I'd clarify that!

She couldn’t take this job. She didn’t want to see Dominic LeGrand again. Especially as Dominic wasn’t the reckless, delinquent boy who had starred in all those innocent adolescent fantasies a lifetime ago, but a billionaire property developer now.
A very sexy love story, 12 years in the making. This is not a second chance romance because our MC's weren't romantically involved 12 years ago. But it's the heroine's opportunity to be with the man, on whom she'd had a raging, hormonal adolescent crush.
Ally is a sweet, industrious and steadfast heroine, working as a cycle courier, to pay her bills and finance her education at Fashion Design School. She's an independent 25 year old, who makes no excuses for herself and isn't plagued with self pity.
This is the heroine, Ally:
And her striking bone structure, the translucent skin and those bottomless eyes the colour of a fine whisky, only enhanced by the hint of eyeliner and the lush sparkle of lip gloss, made her irresistible.
She's had a hard life and she's a little lacking in self assurance, but she doesn't view herself as an oppressed woman or via the lens of the currently popular victimhood narrative. She's a doer, rather than a complainer and doesn't expect other people to solve her problems.
Ally, is a good combo of smart, sweet and thoughtful, without being an undignified martyr type of heroine. She's sometimes guilty of over thinking a situation, but it didn't detract from her character arc, in my opinion.
Twelve years ago, her late mother had been engaged to the H's father. The then 13 year old heroine had spent an unforgettable summer in Provence, France where she had bonded with the 16 year old H. The hormonal adolescent Ally had been awed by Dominic and subsequently saddened and distraught after the vacation had ended disastrously. The subsequent emotional trauma from that incident, had led to the eventual self ruination of her mother's life.
Dominic is the strong, silent type of alpha male H, who is withdrawn, tortured and sometimes stoic but who still posseses the sensitivity to treat the vulnerable Ally with respect. He's the stereotypical charming Frenchman and he often uses his roguish, wickedly seductive persona to lighten intense situations - especially when the conversation becomes somewhat uncomfortable.
This is the H, Dominic:
Dominic had always been striking, but maturity had turned his boyish masculine beauty into something so intense it was devastating. The blond buzz cut had darkened into a tawny brown streaked with gold,...
Those sensual lips always quirked in an insolent, don’t-give-don’t-give-a-damn smile; those chocolate eyes full of resentment and secrets; the mysterious crescent-shaped scar that hooked his left eyebrow; the brutally short dark blond hair that had lightened in the sun and given his brooding beauty a golden glow. Dominic, who had been beautiful and bad and fascinating, and landed like a fallen angel into that perfect summer bringing with him danger and excitement.
The storyline is built around the temporary marriage of convenience trope. Dominic has been smeared in the tabloids by vindictive ex girlfriends, to the extent where his future business partners are concerned about the negative ramifications of his nefarious playboy image. He's never forgotten Ally; she's the adorable little girl who had doted on him and made him feel special. Yet he doesn't immediately recognize her, because his insta-lust for the 25 year old heroine is not exactly what he used to feel 12 years ago !
At the beginning of the story, he's just dumped the woman who'd agreed to be his temporary convenient wife and he's in a huge bind. The OW had been paid a lot of money and gifted with a lot of luxuries, but that hadn't stopped her from creating a cheating scandal and breaking her part of the arrangement, just because the H had stopped having sex with her. But, you know how it goes...
Ally turns up at just the right time and the scheming H realizes that she'll be a perfect replacement for Mira the tarty, vapid hagwitch. His decision is made easier by the undeniable insta-lust between the MC's.
The MC's share insane sexual chemistry and are unable to keep their hands off each other. The reader can almost smell the lust in the atmosphere, when they're in the same room. And the H, shows remarkable savoir faire, for a man living in the MeToo era, because he ensures that he receives permission before he makes his move:
‘So you are smart as well as beautiful.’ His thumb glided across her lips and her mouth opened instinctively on a sigh, the blood rushing in her ears.
‘If I asked to kiss you, Alison,’ he said, the rasp of need in his voice both raw and sublime, ‘what would you say?’
She nodded without thinking.
At first, the shy virgin heroine is unsure whether to throw caution to the winds and sleep with him, since they're not in a long term relationship:
The bulk of the story is set in New York, where Dario and Megan ( the sexy MC's from The Virgin's Shock Baby ) make a couple of awesome cameo appearances. It was cute to see them, especially the doting Dario. But I would've loved for Jared, my fond fav from Captive At Her Enemy's Command to make a speaking appearance. Ally even receives guidance and assistance from Megan, who recognized the heroine's fashion designing genius and offers to invest in her fledgling design house.
The MC's relationship is bonded mainly by their sexual connection, but we're aware of the deep, hidden emotional feelings they share, since it's revealed via their internal monologues. It's revealed early in their relationship, that the H feels threatened by the feelings she inspires in him.
He's so unused to these emotions and to intense sexual chemistry they share, that he is grateful to put some temporary space between them - in an effort to preserve his self control:
A week-long cooling-off period wouldn’t be a bad thing at all. He needed to get a choke hold on his hunger before he made love to her again. Or things had the potential to get out of control, the way they had the first time.
While not being the best Heidi Rice novel I've read, this was quite enjoyable - especially the erotic sex scenes. These two burned up the sheets from the very beginning all the way to the end...
Sex did seem to define their relationship, in the first half of the story. But, the MC's childhood backstory drama was eventually dealt with in the final quarter when they're forced to confront burning, unanswered issues.
It's also revealed that Dominic is more than merely an ambitious billionaire property developer. He's involved in a special charity that saves street children, who've no one else to turn to. It's a minor storyline that's linked to the H's own suffering as an abused child, beaten, tormented and mocked for his bastardy, by the one person who should've protected him: his late, sadistic father.
Ally, for her part, saw the fulfilment of her dream to helm her own fashion house. In the lovely epilogue, in which the MC's from The Virgin's Shock Baby and Captive At Her Enemy's Command make cameo appearances, the heroine's fashion house Allycat puts on a splendid fashion show. The H is right there by her side, to kiss her onstage after they celebrate her success, as she's showered with well deserved adulation for all her hard work.
Safety: No cheating, no OM and the OW was not a factor because the H had ended his relationship with her before he was reunited with the heroine.

ARC provided by NetGalley and Harlequin in exchange for an honest review.
Alley and Dominic share a season of time together in their teens that wasn't necessarily memorable in a good way. Alley's mother and Dominic's Father had an affair or Alley's mother was the "mistress". Each parent had some real emotional and mental issues and would not be given an award at all for their parenting skills, and that's an understatement right there. Dominic's father was abusive and Alley's mother was emotionally needed and insecure. Each watched their parent cause hurt and pain to each other as well as their children. Alley and Dominic in a sense were each other's emotion support. Alley idolized Dominic and he looked at her sweet innocence as hope. But tragedy struck and each went their parents parted and so they were separated.
Years later, Alley who is now twenty-five, is a mail courier (she also goes to school part time as she wants to become a cloths designer) who has just been dispatched for one more delivery for that day. The name seems familiar and when it finally dawns on her that it's Dominic she has already accepted the delivery, but wishing she had turned it down. When Alley arrives she finds a furious woman marching to her car and in the process pushing Alley out of the way and injuring her. Alley realizes then that's the latest of Dominic's women (she seems to keep tabs on him sometimes). She hopes he doesn't answer the door or if so doesn't recognize her. But of course he does. He realizes she's hurt and insist she stay dry off (it had been pouring) and let him tend to her wound.
Dominic rose from a troubled and destitute childhood. He worked hard and become a successful businessman. He's in somewhat of a bind, there is a property he wants to purchase but the sellers look seem to require someone the has a good reputation, not player like Dominic. Dominic became engaged for business purposes, but this particular woman had been cheating on him and it made the papers/headlines. So he was back to square one looking for a potential "wife" when Alley appears at his door. Innocent and sweet Alley seems like the perfect answer to his dilemma and they do have some hot and intense chemistry as well.
The two play catch up on what they have been up too in life. And their attraction is so intense they end up having sex. Dominic finds out she's a virgin and feels a little guilt but also finds it too his benefit. Alley, as a possible wife, with her clean reputation as exactly what he needs. So he offers her a fake marriage in exchange for payment for her school, cloths etc as well as large sum of money. She accepts. They then formulate their plan for their marriage and how it will work. And why not sex as an added benefit since it's so explosive.
Now this is my problem with this "romance", there's not much heart, emotion or relationship development. It's pretty much based on sex, that's it. I also did not connect with either character as they didn't have much development or depth. They live in different countries and only meet when they are need to make a social appearance as a couple. Then it's sex and see you next time. Dominic comes across cold and we don't really know why he's this way till the last few pages which was out of nowhere and abrupt. And Alley, I never really warmed to her at all, she was one dimensional and at times beyond naive (now there's naive and then there's I'm clueless naive, she was second category). The ending was abrupt and the epilogue was okay but not satisfying.
I need my romance to have some heart, emotion and then sex. That's my take on this HP.
These 2 had the fastest hookup ever within the space of an hour I am guessing ,but no worries, they knew each other when they were younger when their own parents were lovers. Lots o sex in this one. Epilogue was okay, but I needed babies!!!
I picked up this book only because my GR friend Carmen in her review mentioned that my favourite couple Dario and Megan of The Virgin's Shock Baby made a few appearances. I like to see the H-h's of previous books make appearances. I like to see how their HEA is progressing. And, I can never forget how Dario's six-month old daughter had him all wrapped around his little finger in the epilogue of his book. It was amusing to see him here as an over-protective 'papa bear' as Megan called him, admonishing her for lifting heavy things --a plate with few snack items on it (lol)-- when she's heavily pregnant with their twins.
Regarding the story and MCs of this book, have to say although Ally did seem sort of vague and Dominic seemed emotionally stunted, I still liked them both somewhat. However, I have very mixed feelings about the book. It had some really wonderful moments and then there were few things that didn't sit well with me especially the fact it was very low on the emotional level and very high on sex for most part of the book that at times I had to recheck I picked up a HP and not an erotica by mistake.
Then I came upon the scene where Ally had period cramps and Dominic treats her to some tender loving care even massaging her feet. It completely bowled me over. It was the only scene where I felt some emotional connection between the two and reaffirmed to me I was indeed reading a HP romance and not erotica. That's what made me give it an extra half star.
I like sex in my romances, but I don't want it to be the only defining factor between the MCs, like my GR friend Esther said in her review. I would like more feelings involved leading to or during sex --even if they want to hide their feelings from one another-- as opposed to just overwhelming lust between them. I like to feel that distinction in the relationship between them and relationship they would have/had with any other woman and man, although there was no OW/OM in this book.
Emotional scenes --like the impact of Dominic's abuse at the hands of his cruel father that made him emotionally closed-off or Ally seeing the scars on his back, also Dominic's guilt-- all were left for the end instead of slowing building it into the story.
Ally's mother had been a mistress to Dominic's father which is why they'd gone to live with him in France that summer when Ally was thirteen and Dominic sixteen. His father was nice to her but very abusive toward his own son and Ally never knew why. She didn't know Dominic was his illegitimate son. But, she used to stand up for Dominic against his father until the day she and her mother were thrown out of his house and her mother never told her the reason behind it. She and her mother end up living in abject poverty and her mother eventually died heartbroken. Ally promises herself she'd never let any man keep her like a mistress and use her. As for Dominic, he'd run off from his father's house battered and bruised after a merciless beating and lived on the streets for a while until he'd made his way up in life.
Now, twelve years later they meet when Ally, who worked as a bike messenger to pay for her fashion designing course, is tasked with the job of delivering a ring to Dominic. He however had just broke off his engagement to a model because she was caught having an affair with her ski-instructor. He wasn't in love with her. He only needed her to be his temporary bride in order to clinch an important deal.
Their reunion seemed so casual and frivolous with Dominic teasingly calling her Allycat as he used to do in the past as if they were casual friends/colleagues who met on and off. Both fall instantly in lust. Dominic also sees Ally as a solution for his need of a temporary wife and proceeds to seduce her. She's totally smitten by him and doesn't need much seducing. They have sex and next morning when he asks her to be his temporary wife she agrees.
After a brief cold marriage ceremony in US they live apart for most of their marriage --he in New York, she in London-- and only meet up for couple of days at different cities in the world mainly for sex because Dominic was totally closed up where personal feelings were concerned and Ally was happy to have him in whatever way possible and didn't want to tilt the applecart by pressing him for more than what he could give her. So, every time they met he'd get an instant hard on and her panties would get wet and they'd combust. Once was even while watching an opera, another was when Ally was badly hurt on discovering Dominic was hiding something important from her and all set to leave him. Barely, had they started arguing over it when he tells her "let me love you and take away your pain" and she knowing he was talking about sex, instantly sheds her clothes.
Besides the sex, the story also took us into Ally's fashion designing business. How she started designing her own outfits for the various functions she and Dominic attended, which catches Megan's eyes and when she comes to know Ally designed it herself, she chides Dominic for not telling her Ally was such a good fashion designer. He didn't know and was stunned to hear it although he liked the dresses Ally designed. The scene between the two couples was very nice, but at the party Dominic finds out from his assistant Ally had refused to accept the alimony money he'd set out in the pre-nup. They argue over it and when they reach an impasse, he decides to use it to set up her fashion designing business. Megan too ends up investing and he and Megan encourage Ally to participate in big fashion events. Although Dominic encourages and helps Ally in solving business problems like when her suppliers back out, etc. he still shuts her out emotionally.
Then, after the sex at the opera, he receives a call from a woman and telling Ally to enjoy the opera, he rushes out and Ally, suspicious he's having an affair follows him and discovers he's not having an affair but had gone in search of a boy from the home he'd set up for homeless boys. She further discovers what had transpired that night when she and her mother was thrown out and its connection to Dominic Turns out because of that guilt he'd stayed away from her. But, I didn't really see much of the guilt throughout the book.
The epilogue was nice with Ally becoming a rage in the fashion world and her proud husband by her side with Dario and Megan and Jared and Katie H-h of Captive At Her Enemy's Commandattending her fashion show.
So, overall a nice read that could have been much better.
When I picked this one up, Harlequin’s Presents line had been on my mind (due to discussions in a writers’ group). It had been ages since I’d read one of these, and I thought something by Heidi Rice was a good way to return.
The Presents line is, as some authors call it, “fairy tales for adults”. It delivers a steamy, larger than life story, with tropes galore.
Contracted as His Cinderella Bride worked for me. I actually enjoyed it a lot more than many Presents books because both hero and heroine approached their fake relationship like adults, and there was no melodrama. Rice delivered all the wealth and opulence – as well as the alpha male – without making the book seem “old school”. And this was a heroine who was a little down on her luck, but who had ambition, and a career in her future.
I loved the London and New York locations, and I especially loved that the author seemed to know her settings personally. They weren’t just window dressing. The reference to the overcrowded Trevi Fountain on the trip to Rome was also welcome, because, honestly, these days there’s nothing romantic about the place:
From my last trip to Rome in 2016. You can’t even see the water!
There were a handful of things in the steamier scenes I could take issue with (we really need some new terms that aren’t “velvet over steel” and “bundle of nerves”!), but I did like how the author subtly changed her terminology when the characters went from England to the United States. In fact, I loved that.
This book delivered exactly the quick-read fairy tale (for adults!) I wanted.
Ally is a bike messenger on her way to deliver a package to a guy she hasn’t seen since she was 13 years old. He is the son of the guy her mom was dating. Until something happened that led to her mom getting a black eye and them leaving in a hurry.
Now twelve years later, she see’s Dominic again and he’s in need of a fake waif for a couple months. He proposes a deal that will leave her a million dollars richer at the end of the couple months if she agrees to marry him.
This leads to them rekindling they friendship (kinda) and him taking her virginity within an hour of then meeting again. The chemistry was supposed to be that strong. It didn’t feel way from my POV. But ok.
I found the book enjoyable. I was a bit disappointed by Ally’s lack of confidence. At the start of the book she seemed such a fighter, but after meeting Dominic and agreeing to his terms, she just went along with whatever crap he put her through. She regains her lady balls by the end of the book and finally stands up for herself.
I did like the journey that they took to get to where they ended. Dominic wasn’t as big of a butthead as I thought. He redeemed himself in so many ways. Good on him for surpassing his awful father’s expectation of him.
All in all, I liked the book and the characters. I was kept entertained and while I wasn’t enthralled, I did find myself engrossed at times.
I felt the hero was too experienced and grown up at 28-years-old to have so many mommy and daddy issues. They were bad enough he was going to divorce his wife just so she wouldn't find out about his childhood after a couple days of marriage. He couldn't love anyone because he felt he wasn't good enough to receive love in return...after all Ma and Pa didn't love him and Papa was physical abusive. He made his own rules for his marriage and as his love grew for his wife, of course, he had to distance himself...never considering how it would make her feel. His young wife went through the whole story broken-hearted and I was ready to plead for just a couple minutes of happiness for her, hence, for me.
I found it depressing and I certainly don't like to end a book still feeling sad.
I doubt I would read this again. Must say though, I love Heidi Rice.
it was a good story but I didn't like the hero, Dominic was good looking, rich and French- but I never warmed up to this character. Ally was nice but I didn't care for her either, I liked her better then Dominic but not much. They shared a summer when she was 13 and he was 16 which changed their lives for different reasons- I didn't care. I found Dominic would laugh at the most inappropriate times and it was annoying. It had a good ending and when I finally read about Dominic's past I just didn't care anymore. We should have found out a little bit about him as the story unfolded so we could start liking him, but we got it at the end, and I'm talking the very end, it was too late. I just didn't care anymore. I'm giving it three stars because it was a good story, it was just a bit cold.
Contracted as His Cinderella Bride by Heidi Rice is a sexy reunion romance for two people who met when they were young through an ill fated romance between their parents. Now they get to choose their own paths, one that leads them to a much brighter future.
When the summer romance between her mother and a wealthy French man ended abruptly, it was in fact a near miss for 11 year old Ally Jones as the man in question turned out to be abusive, to both her mother and his own teenaged son Dominic LeGrand. But the fallout from that summer was a descent into tough times for Ally and her mother who has since passed away. At the same time Dominic found a way to turn his circumstances around and has since become a wealthy businessman.
Their paths cross again when Ally, working as a courier, is tasked with delivering a ring to Dominic’s house. To gain a business contract with a conservative American group, Dominic is determined to show them that he’s no longer a playboy but seriously involved with someone. In reality he’s a plan for a marriage of convenience but since he’s just broken up with his intended possible bride he needs a new fiancee. Ally’s arrival turns out to be perfect. Feeling guilty over what transpired that earlier summer and how his circumstances are so much better than Ally’s, he offers Ally the part of pretend fiancee, for which she’ll be handsomely rewarded. And, there’s a definite spark of attraction between them as adults. Dominic’s terms are strict – no complicated feelings involved, just a straightforward arrangement, which Ally accepts. But what happens when deeper emotions inevitably come into play?
I really enjoyed this story! There’s some mystery surrounding that fateful summer when Ally and Dominic first met, and Dominic has felt a lot of guilt over not knowing what had happened to Ally and her mother – and he certainly doesn’t feel better knowing the circumstances of her current situation. It’s not until later in the story that more is revealed about that time.
Ally has some initial hesitation about accepting Dominic’s offer even though she can really use the money as it feels like she’s following in her mother’s footsteps looking for a rich man to support her. As such, while she’ll agree to a clothing and money allowance for the time she spends pretending to be his fiancee, she refuses to accept any post ‘relationship’ settlement. If she’s going to do this, she wants it to be on her terms. I liked her character a lot, her resilience and her willingness to stand up to Dominic, and then to fight for him and their future together when he balks at accepting her willingly given affection. Trust is in short supply for Dominic and he must learn to trust Ally and his feelings for her. Sex is certainly not a problem, and there are some sensual and passionate scenes that move their relationship forward. Eventually they find a way to compromise about their feelings, and the past and move on to a better and brighter happy ending. It’s a lovely Cinderella themed romance.
Well written as usual by this author, a favourite author of mine going back several years and I do love her 'voice'. This is the usual Mills and Boon type of romance, with quite a few steamy scenes and instant attraction because of the short length - nothing very different from the publisher's usual fare. The H/h knew each other one summer as teenagers and meet up again twelve years later. There's a small amount of drama. Mostly set in London.
The second half felt really rushed, as if the author had so much more to say, but had to fit her story into a certain word count. I'd love to see what this author would write if she was out of the restrictive M & B umbrella!
Strangest plot. The h is a courier girl who bikes her way thru London to deliver items. She barely has any rain gear and is living in penury. Sadness.
She’s asked to deliver a gazillion dollar engagement ring on her broken bike. She meets the H who has recently broken his engagement with his fiancé. He recognizes the h since her mom was once seeing his dad. They quickly shed clothes and ...
That’s how quick I lost respect for the h. The H was also uninteresting and slightly beta. Pass.
This book was a romance without much of it! I didn't like the hero! I also didn't care much that he only wanted the heroine in his bed, without sharing anything with her, despite the fact she was his wife. Frustrating.
Dominic is just a blunt one, ‘I wish to take you to bed, Alison. How do you feel about that?’ Dominic tends to screw things up, 'And wanted to punch a wall. How could he have screwed up this negotiation, so fundamentally?' Dominic can be a litter testy at times, ‘stop apologising about the damn dress. The dress is not the problem. It’s stunning , and it’s been driving me to distraction ever since I saw you in it...' I liked this book, I loved Dominic.
Ally and Dominic's story takes the MoC trope and gives it a different spin which I thoroughly enjoyed.
This was an interesting set up; years ago - her mother and his father were lovers and Ally spent a happy time at the chateau in France when Dominic was there. Years later they meet when she delivers a ring to him just as the woman who had agreed to be his MoC bride broke off the deal. The story just goes from there like a luxury train, beautifully orchestrated by the author.
I love virtually everything Heidi Rice writes. She is so skilful and talented and I love the way she develops fabulous characters and creates credible plotlines. Amazingly good sex scenes and I loved meeting up with the characters from other books. (The Virgin's Shock Baby and Captive at Her Enemy's Command. ) A fabulous read. 5 stars
The perfect summer Ally Jones spent with gorgeous French billionaire Dominic LeGrand was unforgettable, despite her unrequited feelings. Now Ally’s a struggling courier and is stunned when her latest delivery brings her to Dominic’s door. Yet what’s even more shocking is his proposal! Dominic needs a temporary wife, but with the enticing promise of his expert seduction teasing Ally to her limits, can she really just play the role?
Lose yourself in this tantalizing marriage of convenience…
Found this to be an almost perfect take on the billionaire, grumpy i am worthless hero and the heroine who is not quite the weak link but the stronger of the two characters with a lot of fight and determination that might just win the hero over. all in all a good plot and a good story line.
Dominic was a business associate and friend of The couple in "The Italian's one Night heir". He was also like a step brother to Ally when their parents were engaged, Ally Wa 13years old and had a huge crush on Dominic when he was 16years old . However, the engagement between their parents broke off by some reason and an abused Monique (Ally's mom) escaped with her daughter straight into a desolate life leading to her death. Twelve years later, Ally met Dominic again and fireworks explored, her crush transformed into fatal attraction. They immediately fell into lust and have into it. Realising Ally was perfect wife material and he needed one for a business deal he proposed to her. After.some misgivings she had in and they were married. They marriage was extremely physical but the couple was quite distant, Dominic refused to share himself, his life, his secrets. Despite his care for Ally and his tremendous support of her fashion talents he keep to himself. When Ally forced him to faced his feelings and she was fighting for them he gave in and they both renew their marriage without a contract. And they both faced their insecurities and worthiness. Nice read HR!
Heidi Rice is a new to me author and she delivers a very good read. Ally is trying to finish her fashion designing course and working as a courier. She is overwhelmed and tired when she finds herself at Dominic's door. So when he offers her a marriage of convenience along with picking up her tuition and giving her a million pounds she finds it hard to refuse so she jumps all-in. But Heidi loved him once a long time ago and she finds herself falling again. The big question is will Dominic ever be able to love.
If you are looking for a well written, quick, escapist read then this might be in your wheelhouse. It didn't quite push all the right buttons for me but I think that is just because my taste doesn't run to these billionaire stories. I can recommend this one to CR readers who don't have billionaire prejudices.
This was a new author for me and I really liked her book. The cover was so charming and it looked like your neighborhood romance. I am glad I read this book and I am going to continue to be reading them I am so glad I found her. Heidi hit the ball out to the outfield for a triple!
Contracted as His Cinderella Bride by Heidi Rice is part of the Conveniently Wed series. This is the story of Dominic LeGrand and Ally Jones. Dominic needs someone to cover as a person he is involved in to help promote him being in a stable relationship and not the playboy label he has. But they have additional history that is pulling them together along with their feelings.
A big thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Presents for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. They knew each other when they were younger. Alison and Dominic decide on an arranged marriage. He is afraid to show feelings and she is a pushover. But I still liked it. 3.5 stars
Ally Jones' job as a bicycle courier is usually pretty standard, but when she is tasked with delivering a wedding ring to Dominic LeGrand's home, she balks. She and her mother were thrown out of Dominic's home when she was a child, and she's been scraping to survive ever since. Just when her life seems to be turning around, she has no desire to get reacquainted with the boy she knew, even if he was kind to her at the time.
When Dominic discovers that the woman he has chosen to marry is cheating on him, he throws her out. He didn't expect her to declare undying love, but he did expect her to be faithful! As she storms out of his house, she plows into the courier who is delivering her wedding ring. He brings the woman into his house to dry off, and discovers a blast from his past. Little Ally is all grown up, and he still needs a wife to complete the deal he is working on. Can he convince her that his money is a fair trade for a few months of her time?
If money doesn't do it, their combustible chemistry might!
If you like your books with damaged, hurting characters, or with a substantial amount of heat, pick up this one. I enjoyed the story!
