My husband bought me the Better Homes & Gardens Complete Guide to Home Repair: Maintenance & Improvement many years ago. I have used it many times as a reference and read it through just once looking and taking in all the helpful information that keeps a home up to date and efficient. It is a wonderful reference with all the illustrations of each step of projects. Over the years I have installed five toilet tank replacements when my husband was away on business. In each case they were all a bit different but this book made it possible to get them fixed without an expensive plumber bill.
It has helped with installing shelves, how to use tools and even how to turn off a sump pump when it started making an awful sound.
This is one book I will never get rid of and always know I can use it for a reference with a great index and glossary to guide me. I am a lady that started knowing nothing about fixing things but now I know where to find help.
