Klara Woods is an aspiring writer … with no inspiration. After one too many disastrous relationships, her quest for a leading man has fizzled out. Bored with her mundane lifestyle, she decides to do whatever it takes to get her head back in the game. When she finds out that one of her favorite authors, Christopher Kaiser, is leading a writers workshop, she’s the first in line to sign up. Could he help spark her creativity again, or will this be just another one of her bad decisions?
Christopher Kaiser is an international best-selling author whose books have taken the romance genre by storm. Rumor has it that his sexy stories are inspired by personal experiences with his many so-called muses. Touted as one of the South’s most notorious playboys, Christopher is too busy living his best life to settle down anytime soon. Besides, what would happen with his writing if he gave up his “explorations”?
Determined to take matters into her own hands, Klara decides to jump-start her love life with a catastrophe of her own making. Unfortunately, an innocent bystander prevents her desperate attempt for attention by rescuing her from yet another one of her bad decisions. Annoyed—and also a bit turned on by this sexy new hero—Klara goes home, defeated. Forcing herself to focus on her writing, she shows up to her first workshop and quickly learns that her hero from earlier is none other than her instructor, Christopher Kaiser. Will she actually learn something from this, or will she be too distracted by her hots for the teacher?
Kat Addams is an author of contemporary romantic comedies. She’s had a passion for making readers laugh since she wrote her first over-the-top comic book at the age of eight, earning her high marks and concerning looks from her grade-school teachers. She’s a graduate of the University of Memphis, where she studied English literature and creative writing, and fell in love with the rom-com genre. Her books can be described as equal parts shameless and heartwarming with a heavy dose of heat.
When she’s not writing about exotic men and daydreaming of worldly travels, you can find Kat in her hometown of Memphis, drinking craft cocktails on patios and raising her mini-me with a girl-power attitude—but not necessarily in that order. In her downtime, she loves to embark on outdoor adventures, empower other women, and lose herself in good books and good music.
Kat satisfies her darker side by writing paranormal romance with wicked humor under the name Fritzi Cox. Fritzi provides Kat with an outlet to cause mayhem and debauchery with an element of suspense. Whether you’re reading a book from either Fritzi or Kat, you’re guaranteed a hilarious adventure.
Klara is a hard working writer struggling to get inspiration. With terrible relationship history she is finding it difficult to write about that perfect man. She is bored and tired of the same life everyday.
She decides to attend a workshop hosted by her favorite authors. There is no way she is missing this one! Of course, typical Klara makes the same bad decision. He is drop dead gorgeous. Would this be a mistake or the fire she needs? Will she end up with a best seller or finally find her leading man? I highly suggest you read to find out.
I don't even know what to say about this book. I wanted a quick read but for whatever reason even though this book has under 200 pages it felt like it was around 350 pages. I really liked most of the characters in this book and the sexual tension between the main characters, also their chemistry and the way the story went. But I didn't like the fact that this book had the opportunity to be a slow burn romance and have the characters develop feelings for each other gradually and over time, yet in less than 2 weeks one of them falls in love. I have nothing against insta-love, but when there is a way to have a more realistic love story I'd rather have that. Also I thought I was going crazy with all that talk about Limerence. Another thing I did not like was the fact that Klara kept on insisting for Chris to tell her he loves her even if a few pages before it appeared that she accepted that he is not there yet and he needs time. I wanted to say something more about the last chapters but I'm thinking I already spoiled too much. I'm just gonna say that if the ending would've been a little bit different I would've given it a higher rating. I liked Chris' choice up until a certain point so I'm like 75% into what happened. Anyway I really hope you give this book a chance, and then maybe we can talk about the ending.

Let me tell everyone about a lady named Kat Addams. She is a hell of a writer! Her book, Grit and Grind was AWESOME. The book flowed with so much passion and romance, I was waiting for baited breath of what Klara or Chris would say. And let me tell you that Chris can talk the panties off of a nun if he wanted to. The things he said when he was with Klara- oh my God, I was getting hot and flustered. Where can one meet a man like that?! He has the most biggest heart and filthy mouth that any woman would want on her. Klara was a strong independent woman who I was cheering for as I was reading this. Kat Addams, for future books; more long drawn out very detailed sex scenes pleeaassee! Give us woman what we are looking for. My fellow readers- I strongly recommend this book. Her writing ran smooth like water.
Ok wow, Kat Addams is turning out to be one of my favorite writers. Grit and Grind was a perfect dirty romcom for me. The tale of two romance writers not seeing what’s in front of them, well okay one not seeing what is in front of them and another trying to hold back. Klara a southern girl, who funny as hell, and an over thinker. I really related to her, because hello overthinker right here, holding out a big sign with an arrow pointed right at me. Chris is a dirty gentlemen in every way, with a heart of gold that has a hard time opening up. The supporting characters shine just as much as the main ones. Okay let’s talk about Ms. May gawd I love that old broad. She is a loving dirty old woman, that reminded me of my maw, no lie. It brought memories of my grandmother watching Ricky Lake when she has the male strippers on her show and my maw looking at me and saying “I could use a piece of that.” LOL memories, I see where I got that personality trait. Then you had John and Grayson, every girl needs a pair of friends like that in their lives. This book brought memories back to me, so many laughs, and a heartfelt story of a southern belle. I highly recommend this book for anybody that wants a good laugh and a side of dirty talking, this book deserves more than five stars. Kat Addams thank you for writing this story and bringing back some memories that I haven’t thought about for awhile, and making me snort while I was laughing, you’re a doll. ♥️
Kat Addams debut book is packed with flirty banter and hilarious conversations. I found myself laughing out loud multiple times while reading the drama play out between Klara and Chris.
I'm going to be real with you, Ms. May was my favorite character. She's a good ol' sass-mouth southern grandma who calls it like she sees it and doesn't beat around the bush! I was in stitches every time she was talking.
I very much enjoyed this story about a playboy author and a philanthropic aspiring author, two different worlds but truly, not so different after all. Thanks for all the laughs!
I was really looking forward to reading this story and it was an enjoyable read. The characters are well written. I loved Ms. May and Grayson especially. This story had some fun dialogue, steamy sex and angst. The back and forth got to be a bit distracting for me and I wanted to yell for Klara and Chris to just "man" up and tell each other how they felt. There were fairytale moments and desolate moments all leading up to their HEA.
What a fun and intriguing romance! Great chemistry! Hot sexual encounters! An interesting storyline. And, the hero finally redeeming himself. Chris is one swoon-worthy character. And, who couldn’t help to love Klara? She’s smart, funny, and has a heart of gold. And, what a wonderful setting in Memphis! This has everything that a reader desires...
This is the first book I have read from this author and it was a great read it was a lot of fun that had me laughing out loud. Klara and Chris were great and the chemistry between them was fantastic. I really enjoyed this book and I will be looking out for more books from this author
This story made me laugh, ache and despair. I love the humor and banter between Chris and Karla and I love the characters in general. The book was well written and new but occasionally felt a little long.
Klara and Chris's story is enjoyable, fun, fresh and kept me entertained from beginning to end . From the very first interaction, I smelled trouble and it was the very good kind of trouble. I like that story flowed naturally and the characters were easy to relate to. Chris and Klara are both going through the motions and meet at different points in their career. Chris is more career focus, relationship are never long term for him. While Klara is ready for her career to take off but still wanting the perfect life where she can have love and a career. Once these two agreed to give into their attraction for each other , that's when the heat factor got high, matching the Memphis heat . Their chemistry was good and these two weren't shy about what they wanted and needed from each other. One of my favorite things about this story, had to be when Klara attempted to talk dirty, I promise that was one of the funniest thing because it was cute seeing her step out . Looking forward to seeing more from this author.
Grit and Grind was the perfect combination of sexy and funny. I really enjoyed reading this Debut Novel by a Kat Adams. I been eyeing this book for a while because i had heard so many wonderful things. The Story revolves around Klara and "oh so sexy writer Christopher Kaiser" (Chris for shorts). they met by accident(or did they?😉) and sparks fly in the oh so well town known as Memphis. Klara has had really bad luck with relationships and she is a struggling writer who has a hearth of gold. Chris is a well known writer who goes from town to town looking for inspiration for his sexy romance novels who in reality has never experience love before. By destiny Klara is a student were Chris is teaching a workshop and sparks keep flying but Chris is very stubborn and i love him but sometimes I wanted to slap him across the face and tell him to put all his "LIMERANCE"feelings to the side and give his feelings a chance. They were also some amazing characters in this book that i love so much starting with Ms. May(honestly she is my kind of old lady I would like to hang around), the Johnson's and the two devil kittens. By the end of the story my heart was pounding so hard, there were so much emotions on those last chapters and honestly I didn't know what was going to happen. So if you want to find out what happen then you really need to read this book.
Klara is a college student whose dream is to become a published author. She is feeling quite uninspired, and is having problems focusing on her writing. She enrolls in a writing workshop with the famous author Christopher Kaiser, hoping that it will give her some good pointers on the writing process. Let’s just say they meet in an unexpected way. Sparks fly. He is only in town for two weeks. She agrees to show him the local Memphis scene and he agrees to teach her about character observation. They inspire each other to get a ton of writing done, that is, when they manage to keep their hands off of each other. They could set Memphis on fire with their chemistry! I love that Klara is such a feisty, caring and kick-ass lady! Chris literally doesn’t know what has hit him. He has never felt this way before. He is amazing with the romance and sex that he writes about in his books, but he is afraid to consider that what they are feeling is love. Him and his damn limerence! If there was ever two people who loved each other so completely, it was he and Klara. Will he realize the truth before it is too late? I absolutely loved this book! I just read it twice in a row because I didn’t want to let these characters go. It is such a great love story with a ton of heat! The way that Kat describes the city makes me want to go visit the interesting places that she mentioned. This book was a lot of fun! Grit and Grind was an original read that I really enjoyed. It's the story of Klara, who's a hard working writer, and so bored with life that she's struggling with inspiration. Plus, she's the queen of bad decision making to boot, as she has a gift for choosing the most disastrous relationships, so the journey to find the right leading man, has taken a backseat. She has an opportunity to go to a writers workshop that her favorite author is running, she decides she's going. Christopher Kaiser is a best selling author, whose books have taken the romance world by storm. Of course, he has plenty of inspiration since he's a hard core playboy who has no intentions of settling down. Unfortunately, Klara has one more bad decision situation before the workshop, and a stranger rescues her & who has Klara hot & bothered to her annoyance. That stranger/hero turns out to be Christopher, so she's mortified when she goes to her first class at the workshop. Now, these two have some serious chemistry, so you already know that they're going to act out some of the chemistry. So has Klara finally found the perfect leading man this time? Or will Christopher not be able to commit? Finally, will Klara be able to restart her writing life since she has her perfect muse in Christopher? For the answers to these questions, you'll have to one click on this sexy story! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Kat Addams is a new author to me and I’m so thrilled I found her ♥️♥️ her books are such an easy and fun read for me. 𝕋𝕚𝕞𝕖 𝕗𝕝𝕚𝕖𝕤 𝕨𝕙𝕖𝕟 𝕪𝕠𝕦’𝕣𝕖 𝕙𝕒𝕧𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕗𝕦𝕟 💃🏼
Klara is a firecracker!!! She overthinks just about everything but honestly...what person doesn’t?! She was so relatable, what with her witty humor, sassy demeanor, and loving temperament.
Chris is a dirty talking (and writing) gentleman with a heart of gold but has such trouble opening up to anyone. He’s a love em for a while (to get inspiration for his books. How HOT is that though?!) and leave em guy. BUT the women he spends his time with are of the same nature so it works in both favors.
I love how both Klara and Chris get inspiration from each other for each respective book they are writing and “researching” *wiggles eyebrows* (y’all I really wish insta would allow us to post gifs).
Now let me talk about the best supporting character I’ve ever read about. 𝐌𝐬. 𝐌𝐚𝐲. Oh my gosh how I L O V E D her. She’s a dirty talking old woman who says what she means and means what she says 100% of the time. She’s hilarious and crass and I just loved her so so much.
I enjoyed reading Grit and Grind(Dirty South Book 1). All about Chris Kaiser is a single romance author & lecturer in his late thirties & Klara Woods who is twenty six year old a student in college and a romance writer with a love of plants and running. She runs into Chris one morning while out running. He actually saves her from getting run over by a fellow runner she has dubbed farmer John! Turns out Chris is the Lecturer teaching the writing conference she is attending! Read about Chris & Klara as they tour Memphis together and get to know each other on a more personable basis. They have a lot in common, and share manny passions! If you like to laugh, cry, sob and in general just enjoy another person’s company, then this book is for you!! I loved all the ups & downs and the fun spontaneity in and out of the bedroom, especially when they went people watching over drinks!! I really loved reading this book, and hopefully you will as well! Looking forward to reading book 2!!
5 Grit & Grind Stars!!! Such a cute, flirty and sexy book! I can't wait to read more from this author!!!
What a great debut author from this author!!! I fell head first into this book and I couldn't get out! I loved the witty banter between the two characters. The storyline was unique and fun to read, which is good because there's a lot of the same out there lately! This is an author I will definitely be reading more of in the future!
Aspiring writer Klara has a case of writer's block so when her favourite author is in town to teach a writer's workshop she is first in line to sign up. Chris is the male erotica author in question, who has muse in each city he has visited. He also doesn't believe in love.
When a stranger prevents her from executing her plan to get to know a fellow runner better, she is astonished to discover that he is in fact her favourite author. As they spend time together because of the chemistry between them, they become each other's muse for the time he is there.
Klara was certainly sassy and Chris determined and motivating. I am going to be honest and say that I didn't find this hilariously funny. I, unfortunately, only found it mildly funny in places. This could be down to my own (lack of) of sense of humour but I only found myself smiling at some of their antics. I still found it an enjoyable read.
Grit and Grind follows Klara as she tried to develop her writing career, finish college and work all at the same time. A chance encounter with her sexy guest lecturer, Chris, who also happens to be one of her favorite authors, leads her to exploring a whirlwind relationship unlike anything Klara has ever experienced before. Their passion for each other leaps off the page, but Chris’s inability to commit leads Klara to doubt their budding relationship. I loved the book, the characters were complex, although Chris was a bit whishy washy for me, but he was sexy and sweet all at the same time, which I enjoyed. I loved that Klara stood up for herself in the end, putting her foot down. The ending was great, and over all I enjoyed the book greatly. 4.5/5 Stars! Grit & Grind is about a college student called Klara and follows her as she finishes college, develops her writing career and works all at the same time. After a chance encounter with Chris who is her guest lecturer and also one of her favourite author it leads her to a relationship that she never expected.
The chemistry between Klara & Chris is electric but Chris can’t commit to Klara. Chris did annoy me at times but he was also very sexy & sweet so made up for the annoying bits.
I loved that Klara is an independent woman and will stand up for herself and put her foot down if she needs too.
The ending was great and over all I enjoyed the book.
Liked the story. I like stories about authors. It gives a different perspective considering hey know all the tropes they have written and the backgrounds. I live the characters Chris and Klara. She is sassy and smart and just plain lovely. He is slightly older maybe 8-10 years. An established writer who has had a nomadic lifestyle with muses in all the new places he has been. Clearly commitment phobic mostly from just not staying one place too long to putting in the effort. They had a world wind romance. Obviously balancing each other out and driving each other’s passions and goals. But walls and fears get in the way. Both characters grew up and learned a lot. And who they are as a person. Liked the ending. Cool meet-cute.
Wow, that was a wonderful book. It's about Klara, who wants to become an author plus, she isn't so happy in love department. One day, when she is jogging before her morning class, one guy saves her from bumping into someone. Only Klara does not appreciate his saving. And then, surprise surprise just when she thinks she will never have to see him again, it turns out that she isn't that lucky. Her savior, but definitely not in her eyes, turns out to be her new teacher. This was my first read from this author and I will definitely read more.

What a great debut from Kat Addams! I loved this story. What's not to love about two writers sharing a steamy connection? When I say steamy I mean get a fan and some water and get ready to blush. But it wasn't just a steamy read. This story has so much heart to it. This is a romance fans dream book. It had everything: comedy, romance, drama, surprises, sweet scenes, sexy scenes, wonderful story... I couldn't help but fall for Christopher along with Klara. I wish they were real because I want to read their books! And don't go thinking this is the normal romance story. This author will have you on the edge of your seat in this book. I seriously can't wait for more from this author.
Hot for teacher! Grit and Grind is the first book in the Dirty South series. This is a great romantic comedy with wonderful Southern ladies involved. The storyline is original, with humour, drama, and sweet romance.
Chris and Klara meet in an unorthodox way before she finds out that he is her teacher in a writing workshop. Sparks fly and the chemistry is off the charts between these two but Chris doesn't know what love feels like. Will Klara be able to teach him before it's too late?
This is my first book by Kat Addams and I am looking forward to more. I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book with no obligation.
This was not good. I was so bored in the first chapter! With all the rambling and the description. Best part was her mom’s southern sayings. At least they got a chuckle. I skipped to chapter 12 and boy did I feel like I saved myself from torture. They story didn’t get better from chapter 12 either. Limerence ugh. I hate the words “amazeballs” and “hoo-ha.” Grow up. I came across on sex scene and the dialogue was kinda cringe not going to lie. I didn’t like either character. I am really leaning toward not reading anything else by this author and deleting anything I have gotten for free. No thanks. I don’t have time for this amateur stuff here.
Grit and Grind is the first book I have read by Kate Adams and it is a very enjoyable read that offers lots of small town charm, humor and sweetness. The characters attractions was strong and their chemistry generated lots of sparks. The storyline was engaging and fun it offers a solid amount of drama and emotional turmoil as the couples relationship evolves into more than they ever imagine. Looking forward to reading more from this author.

This was a sweet, steamy romance. It was cute, funny and quirky, everything a true southern romance should be. And honey, it had alll the feels. The words pulled me right into the story and made my heart flutter and gave me butterflies. I smiled and giggled all the way through it.
One of the things I loved and appreciated was there weren’t separate chapters used for a POV. You got to read what each, and what Ms. May, thought throughout the story. It added to the scenes, gave them more depth.
I look forward to reading more from this author. Well done Ms. Kat.
This might be my first Did Not Finish, if not it’s been a long time since I had one, and I slogged through the first Fu Manchu book. There’s some possibility in this romance; the premise, the characters, even some of the writing but at 29% I’d had enough of jumping between character POV’s with no rhyme, reason, or even a double space between paragraphs to indicate we were switching. The sexy time was, for me, clunky and uninspired. I’m kind of a completist so I have no doubt I will come back and try to finish this at some point, but not for awhile.
