Children's ABC book with realistic animal drawings. Most pages list 3 animals per letter along with information about one of them. At the end of the book is a listing of the letter and animals and what continent they are from along with map showing some of them.
Laura Watkins is an accomplished liar and one of the world's foremost aunts, who accidentally wrote Tales for Gullible Children while concocting stories for her two nieces. She lives in Oregon, but frequently visits the gullible children in Missoula.
When looking for books to read to your toddlers, what do you look for? I look for engaging with a light educational topic. T Is for Tiger brings educational, engaging and beautifully illustrations to both the reader and the toddler.
I loved that it included facts about each animal and showed the map of some of the highlighted animals location.
I received this ARC copy of T Is for Tiger from Callisto Media - Zephyros Press. This is my honest and voluntary review. T Is for Tiger is set for publication July 2, 2019.
My Rating: 5 stars Written by: Laura Watkins Age Range: 2 - 4 years Paperback: 46 pages Publisher: Zephyros Press (July 2, 2019) ISBN-10: 1641524804 ISBN-13: 978-1641524803 Genre: Toddler Activity Book
My little was ready for me to read this to her because she loves animals. We guessed first what animal might be on what pages and sometimes we were correct. The animals inside are drawn from real life species so they are fairy realistic. Sometimes you get a fact or two about one or two of the animals associated with a letter.
However, not all the letters and animals are treated fairly. When we went to "D" suddenly it covered only one page and no fact was given about the animals. My little noticed and ask me why but I could only say that was the author's choice. I think each letter should have been treated the same (two or one page spread) and the animals needed facts for at least one per letter as well.
At the end is a two-page listing of the letters and animals again saying which continent they came from. There is also a map showing some of the animals. While it would have made for a full map, my little noticed that not all the animals were represented.
"T Is for Tiger: A Toddler's First Book of Animals" is beautifully illustrated, cleverly written, and gently educational. I have loved books and animals since I was old enough to know what they were, and I am entranced by this wonderful little book. Author and illustrator Laura Watkins is a marvel--superbly talented and with a great love of creating moments of magic. "T Is For Tiger" is so much more than an alphabet book for young children. It charmingly interconnects varying species with their shared environments, offers interesting facts about many of the animals, and it also includes a listing and a world map identifying the continents for each of the animal groups in the alphabet letters. This is a book that both children and parents will enjoy reading over and over again. "Q" is for "quokka"--called "the world's happiest animal" because their mouths appear to smile. Maybe they have read "T Is For Tiger".
T is for Tiger: Learn Your ABCs with Animals Around the World! is a delightful alphabet book for toddlers illustrated by Laura Watkins. One of the nice things about this book is that each alphabet letter is represented by more than one animal; for example, “A is for albatross and alligator,” and “C is for cardinal, chipmunk, and cat.” The drawings are cute, charming, and have a calming feel. One of my favorite drawings, spread over two pages, represents the letter K, and shows koalas watching kangaroos hop through the outback, as a kookaburra sits perched on the branch of a tree. The book introduces children to animals they may not heard of yet, such as quokkas and urials, while also throwing in familiar ones, such as moose and mice. The book is paperback, 46 pages long and 8 x 8 inches in size, with a soft matte finish.
Cute picture book for kids that showcases animals around the world with adorable illustrations while highlighting the alphabet. Each letter is accompanied by a list of three animals (all from the same continent), and a cute picture of one of them, most are also accompanied by a fun animal fact. At the end of the alphabet (and thus the book) there is a world map showing where on the continent some of the animals are. The illustrations are hands down the highlight of the book, there are no playful rhymes or fun word games. Your toddler may recognize some of the animals; but urials, quokka, and xantus might have them befuddled. Overall it's a cute educational book, not a classic, but one your kid will still pick up again and again.
This is a nicely illustrated paperback book that walks your youngsters through the alphabet, one letter at a time, by animal (A is for Albatross and Alligator!)
Some of the letters (like A) include multiple animals and fun little facts about the animals - others do not.
I give the author kudos for coming up with some of the animals she did. but agree with the other reviewers that it would have been nice to have seen fun facts for the animals on all of the letters.
Regardless, the illustrations are great and I would recommend the book!
Disclosure: I received a copy of this book from the publisher, but I was not required to post a review. My comments represent my personal impressions of this book!
What a joyful educational book for children and adults. I learned a thing or two reading the stunning book. It made me and my niece laugh and smile. Both of us had to stare at the illustrations for a few minutes because of the magical realism that came out in the colors. I loved how at the end a map of the world indicated where the animals lived. The side notes of unique additional information about the animal's I found important and entertaining. Beautiful, soulful important book for everyone to enjoy.
What a lovely book for teaching toddlers about animals and the ABCs. Each illustration is colorful, appealing and friendly looking with faces that are anthropomorphized. Definitely a nice book for a little one's shelf.
This was a cute book. My daughter and I enjoyed reading about all the animals. I liked that the book named the animal and gave one fact about the animal. There were not alot of words on the page which is great for younger children.
