Wow!! This book is SO cool! I have to admit, I bought this from a FB ad. 🤦🏻‍♀️ But I’m so glad I did!

It is a somewhere in between a dictionary and a thesaurus. It is not an exhaustive list of words with mundane definitions. It is meant to inspire young writers to build creative stories and to develop new ideas.

The book is organized by theme and then further by topic. Each theme has a section of adjectives that are related to each other. These words have illustrations, concise definitions, and words that might pair well with the original word. Then there is a large section of nouns organized by topic. The nouns have small illustrations and several possible word pairs.

It might take a little bit of practice for kids to learn how to use this book. Once they do, it could be a phenomenal resource.

My issue with this book is the chaos. It's colorful. There was an attempt made to organize 1000+ words. There are a ton of images/illustrations. And the author, Mrs. Wordsmith, is actually a team of 7 writers. There are 23 artists. The publisher is DK, which I believe is Dorling Kindersley...something like that, and this confirms my suspicion that they produce and market colorful books just to attract buyers and persuade them to believe they are spending their money on a quality item, when it fact, it is not a quality item. It is just a pile of illustrated words sold under the guise that it is "educational." I consider it a fake book that was fabricated by a team. Oh yeah, and it comes with a QR code and suggested apps so kids can play Word Tag online somewhere, which actually takes kids AWAY from actual reading and writing. Boo. Hiss.
